Chapter 32:

Mar Kirr

Hacker Class

Alden gritted his teeth as he activated [GRAVITY] allowing him to stop himself from getting burned into smithereens by flying into the furnace. Alden levitated in the air, stopping for a moment to catch his breath but the Tank Boss did not wait for him. The greatsword was already falling upon Alden, forcing him to fly away. The greatsword cut empty air but the impact caused by it sent Alden off balance, causing him to fall to the ground.

"I can't get close, " Alden jumped away from another attack that nearly killed him. "I can't risk getting hit by his attacks. I'll die instantly if I do."

Alden struggled to think due to the onslaught of attacks. Another attack sent Alden flying through the air so that he landed a few blocks away. Alden quickly got up from the crater that he was lying in, "He always sees me coming..." Alden thought before his face lit up. What if he doesn't see me coming?"

Alden darted into one of the buildings while summoning a cloak. A black cloak appeared, and Alden wore it before throwing the hood over his head. The moment he did that, he disappeared.

That was another skill of the cloak his father had left him, besides great defensive capabilities it had a stealth ability that allowed the user to hide within the darkness. It wasn't a very effective ability as it demanded a specific condition to be used but that condition was met as Alden was in the darkness, allowing him to use that ability.

Each second was burdensome as Alden waited for Mar Kirr to arrive. Then he heard the footsteps crushing pebbles, each footstep was slow, and Alden waited to see whether he would be discovered by the Tank. Alden pressed his back against the wall and caught his breath, there was a window that allowed light to enter the old dusty room in which Alden hid in.

"Hiding will not help you!" Mar Kirr bellowed from the outside. His footsteps stopped and Alden listened expectantly but was relieved when the footsteps continued once again.

"Now!" Alden thought.

On the outside, Alden's dagger suddenly appeared from within a building, and it flew toward the Tank Boss. He raised his sword with a flash easily deflecting the attack. Then, to his left, he heard the sound of a falling rock. He disappeared at that instant, when he moved toward the building, breaking the wall as he charged in. He looked around the small room, searching for Alden within it but Alden was nowhere to be seen.

Then, suddenly he spun around, his sword swinging behind him. Alden ducked and swung his staff. It hit Mar Kirr and barely scratched him. Mar Kirr kicked at Alden, sending him flying through walls and rolling in the dust and rocks.

"My attacks barely even scratch him!" Alden thought to himself. If only I had a better weapon... Alden had needed a good weapon but he was not able to find one that he could afford. He decided he would use his [BLACKSMITH] ability to create a weapon but he needed materials and a forge...

Alden's eyes widened in realization.

"A forge! I needed a forge," Alden thought excitedly. He could create a weapon that could help him defeat Mar Kirr. He needed a forge, which he now had and he needed materials, there was plenty of Moon Metal in the dungeon. In fact, behind the forge was a whole mountain of them.

All he needed to do was isolate himself from that monster. Alden's eyes lifted to gaze at the Dungeon Boss, Mar Kirr who was slowly walking towards Alden. Mar Kirr was confident in his victory and that was why he seemed so lax.

Alden leaped backward and disappeared in the shadows of an old broken building. He had to make this work.

"These small tricks will not save you...Boy!" Mar Kirr called as he darted into the building. From below, something silver shone as it flew toward Mar Kirr. Mar Kirr effortlessly hit the dagger away, amused by the effortless struggle.

"Lose all hope of winning," Mar Kirr said. "You have no chance of living."

Mar Kirr suddenly felt something fall unto his shoulders, before he could react he heard a voice mutter.

"You talk much," Alden who had hidden in the dark and used gravity to stick to the ceiling, had dropped onto Mar Kirr. Before he was thrown off, Alden activated [GLITCH].

Alden disappeared from sight and in an instant, he had teleported as far away from the forge as he could. As soon as they appeared on a large open field, which had no buildings at all, Mar Kirr grabbed Alden and threw him far away from him.

"Heh, " Alden chuckled painfully, from where he lay above a bunch of rocks. He was wondering how to separate himself from Mar Kirr so he could teleport back but Mar Kirr had made that easier for him.

[GLITCH (lv1) ACTIVATED]
