Training with Leonard

Two days later

Genji's Pov:

"Brenda! I need some assistance here!" "No way I am going down there! I hate spiders the most! Add to that you are supposed to be able to deal with beasts of the 9th grade already. " I looked at Leonard who just smirked "Sorry but my dear little sister wanna train her disciple and make him stronger so I can't interfere."

Two days ago, Brenda promised to help make me the king by training me and helping with doing the tasks given by Edd since I don't know much about this place. I thought that things will be working smoothly like that but... Why is she with Leonard up while I'm stuck with a bunch of spiders here?!
Leonard shouted smugly "I heard that you even broke Lucine's armor. Why not use the same trick to clear up the monsters here? They might be a lot but they are very weak and can be slayed easily." That guy was getting on my nerves with his attitude. If they are this easy why not deal with them on his own? I tried all the tricks I could think of and ended up finishing the job but...

"Little brat, if you can summon a giant wave then you could avoid drowning us, right?" I smiled innocently from behind Brenda "I can't control my magic yet so I couldn't do it. Sorry..." Brenda scolded her brother "Leo! We are here to train him to control this power not to scold him for failing. You better treat him more nicely!" I was enjoying how Brenda was lecturing her brother while I teased him from her back by sticking my tongue out.
Brenda took the chest we found and checked it "It looks familiar... I think I saw it in the magic item encyclopedia." "Let's open it first and find out what we got here." I opened the chest and an orb was there. Leo was about to touch it when Brenda stopped him "Don't! It's not safe to touch it directly. Gin, you have your pendant, right? The one you choose from that magic items shop." I took the pendant from my pocket and showed it to her "It's with me. Why asking?" Brenda didn't answer at first, she took the pendant and knocked it gently on the orb and they started glowing before the orb disappear and the pendant change its shape.

Brenda commented "Just as expected. Gin, you have good eyes. Your pendant is an old relic from the old kingdom Amoralia. The final shape is something no one did witness before since it's an over 600 years old relic but you need more than this orb to make it get back to her old shape." I had a question when Leonard beat me to it "Brenda, I know you are a big fan of history but things about Amoralia's treasure weren't mentioned in any book. How did you know about all of this?" "It's the mirror lady! She always told me about Amoralia and how great it was. I wish that I can live in Amoralia once again." "Once again?" Both I and Leo cracked our heads confused when she explained "It's her words, not mine hehe! Anyway, we gotta find more of those lost relics!" Leonard turned to me and asked, "How did you get the map to this place, little brat?" "I found it. Also, I have a name so stop calling me a little brat!" Leonard was going to ask more when Brenda came in the middle "Now now you guys shouldn't fight. In fact, I had a request to ask my brother" Brenda suddenly showed sparkling eyes "Brother, since we are going to the capital next week, can you please help us train and get stronger and better at controlling our power?"
If I didn't know that this girl is an old lady already, I would have fallen for that yet her brother... "I would have accepted training you but this brat- Nevermind! I'm doing it for seven days only so I can keep my life." I couldn't understand his last statement but I guess he meant his sister gonna beat him to death maybe.

Leonard began training us on the following day. The first two days were all about mana control, and the third was all about casting basic spells. By the fourth day, we had begun training by hunting monsters in the forest, and I had the opportunity to seek vengeance on the serpent and orc who had welcomed me on my first day here. We camped and spent the entire day there. We had a two-on-one fight with Leonard by the sixth day, and we both lost no matter how many times we tried. When the last day arrived, we went through some weapon training before going to buy new ones.

When we returned home from shopping, we found that Aunty Lila made a feast for dinner to celebrate the end of our training. The lady of the house asked happily "How were the results of the training, dear Leo?" Leonard looked at me first "For Gin, he can infuse a weapon with his water magic and make waves of water slice his enemies-" Brenda cut him "And he even can summon a Tsunami!" I sighed at her blunt interruption when Leo continued "Gin's mana regeneration is great. With more training, he will be able to cast an unlimited amount of spells without any problems. On the other side..." He looked at Brenda with a stern look while she just smiled innocently "This girl is really something! She doesn't want to focus on training for the small area or single target attacks but the ones blowing a country! I won't deny that her spells reached a different level and she became sharper and stronger with her weapon and magic, she can even defeat me probably but her weakness is group fights, especially when Gin is around. When we had that two against one her focus wasn't on defeating me or the battle, but it was on protecting Gin tho she isn't the tanker of the party. Her healing skills had the greatest development compared to the battle one yet... She didn't develop even one new single target attack nor developed her old one."
Lila smiled brightly "What they did is already great enough! I'm proud of you my kids! I will miss you guys when you go to the capital and join the academy."
The lady started shedding tears when Leonard interrupted "They are just going to be acknowledged officially by the prince and get their names registered for free in the Academy then will come back. I'll be the one taking them there and I'll ask someone to travel with them back once they are done with everything they need there." Lila wiped her tears "Still, I've never been separated from my little Brenda since birth for more than three days. I'll miss her so much." Brenda suddenly asked "Hasn't Dad sent any letters? He has been to the capital for more than a week now..." Lila replied worriedly "Yeah I know. He usually sends letters once a week whenever he is out there for a long time than expected, but maybe he sent it but it didn't reach us."
We finished dinner and started preparing our stuff to travel tomorrow to the capital. Lila was going to make me an empty room but Brenda made a fuss about it and wanted me with her so I just refused the new room getting more hatred from Leonard. As were putting the clothes in the bag Brenda asked "Did you talk to that guy or get any new tasks?" "Nope. He didn't even reward me for the previous task of that relic so I guess he only contacts me when he is free-" As I was talking the phone vibrated "It's a call from him!" Since I already shared the secret with Brenda, I didn't have to hide before talking to him. "Yo Gin! Missed me a lot didn't cha?" "Cut it and tell me what you want, Mr. Edd." The man sounded grumpy "Cool down young Gin! I was just checking on you since I am sure you have many questions to ask me about. I can hear them out now since I got some free time." I looked at Brenda before asking "First question will be about you. How do you know when I finish the tasks you give me and where I am and what happened to me? Last time you knew that I was dealing with the knights and knew when I defeated them. Are you spying on me?" "You are making me sound like a stalker when you say it this way while I only do that out of the goodwill. Genji, just treat me as your guardian."
