Chapter 50:

What Do You Want?

From the Depths of an Emotionless Heart

The meal was ready and ate their food and went to sitting area.

Saya and Mika sat on the front deck of the yacht, quietly watching the sunset.

Mika felt like he needed to say something, anything.

"Did you have a good sunbath today?"

"Y-yes."

"Did my mother give you a hard time? I hope she didn't bombard you with too many questions."

"No, she didn't. You have a really nice mom," Saya replied. Wearing her sunglasses, she looked at the last traces of orange from the setting sun.

"Saya, I really don't understand why you-"

Mika's attempt to speak was interrupted by his father's call from afar.

"Hey, kids, come on! Let's play bingo together!"

Saya had already stood up. Mika glanced at her, and without even looking at him, she started walking.

"We shouldn't keep your family waiting."

They all played bingo together, and as they continued their journey toward Sado under the moonlight, the night seemed magical.

Morning came, and Mika stepped outside with sleepy eyes. The cold breeze and the smell of the sea greeted him. The sea sparkled so brightly that he blinked and looked ahead.

The yacht had anchored in the harbor of Sado.

"Good morning," his father greeted, wearing a hat and sunglasses as he looked at Mika.

"Good morning," Mika replied.

"Did you sleep well?"

"Yes, it wasn't too bad."

"I'm glad. Shall we prepare breakfast for the girls?"

"S-sure."

Mika and his father began to prepare breakfast. When they were finished, the girls woke up and they all sat down to eat breakfast together.

"What's the plan for today, Dad?" Mika asked as he put some cheese on his plate.

"We thought today could be a beach and ocean day. Your mom and I are planning on going to a local bar in the evening. You two can enjoy yourselves however you like," his father said.

Mika and Saya exchanged glances. They both seemed unsure of what to do.

"Well, are you going to the beach?" Hana asked with a smile.

"I guess so. There's not much else to do. Unless Saya has other plans..." Mika said.

"Yeah, that sounds good," Saya agreed.

After breakfast, everyone started getting ready for the beach. Applying sunscreen, Mika grabbed his towel and headed out. They walked to the shore together and found a place to rent sunbeds.

"Kids, have fun. We'll be at the beach café for a while," Mika's father said.

"Isn't it a little early for drinks, Dad?" Mika remarked.

"Don't worry about it! Just have fun. You two go ahead; our deck chairs are on the other side."

Saya blushed and felt embarrassed as she listened to Mika's father.

"What's making you blush, Saya?"

"It's nothing."

They settled into their sunbeds. Mika played with his phone. In the group chat with Kai, Yuki, and Mana, they were all busy chatting and making plans to meet.

"Are you coming, Mika?" Kai had texted.

"Sorry, I'm out of town right now, won't be able to make it."

"Oh, I see...that's too bad then," Kai replied.

When Mika put his phone down, he saw Saya lying on her sunbed, wearing her sunglasses. Although he wanted to talk to her, he couldn't think of anything to say. His father's words were still in his mind. Finally, an idea came to him.

"Hey, Saya," Mika said.

Saya turned her head slightly toward Mika.

"Yes?"

"I'm going to get something to drink. Do you want anything?"

"I don't know."

"What do you mean, 'I don't know'? If you want something, just say it."

"I want something."

"What do you want?"

Saya didn't answer. Mika couldn't understand what was going on. He felt another kind of emotion again. It was like a disgusted burning in his stomach. He didn't even want to look at Saya's face.

Suddenly he was standing in front of her.

"Mika?" Saya said, surprised.

"Are you going to give me a proper answer, or should I come back empty handed?"

"W-well, how about some lemonade then?" Saya said, her surprise quickly fading. The moody version of her from earlier seemed to disappear in an instant.

"Okay. Just give me clear answers like that," Mika said before walking away. He went to the cafe to get the drinks. When he came back, he noticed that there were a few guys around Saya.

They all seemed to be around her age. Saya had taken off her sunglasses and was listening to them with a confused expression on her face. You could see the tension in her eyes. Mika approached with the drinks in his hands.

"Don't worry about it. Come with us to the sea," the blond guy said.

"Yeah, come on. We can play some games together," another guy added.

Mika came closer. The other guy had taken a seat on his deck chair and was watching Saya.

"Excuse me, gentlemen," Mika said. He walked past them and put the drinks on the table.

"Hey, who's this?" the blond one asked.

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"D-Does M-Mika m-mean... my b-boyfriend?" Saya stammered in panic.

"What's going on? Did you have a thing with Saya?" Mika asked, looking at her.

There was a moment of silence.

"Besides, this is my tanning bed. If you don't mind, I'll sit here," Mika added.

The guys exchanged glances.

"Oh, she's got a boyfriend," the brown-haired guy said as they left.

They all got up and started walking away, grumbling.

"Do you know them, Saya?" Mika asked as he sat down on his sunbed and watched them leave.

"N-no, they just came over and invited me all of a sudden," Saya said, taking a deep breath.

"Are you okay?" Mika asked.

"I'm fine, thanks." Saya had completely shaken off her moody state from earlier and had started to drink the lemonade Mika had brought.
