Chapter 4:

Chapter 4

Fake Eyes

She was done explaining the chart she had drawn last night to the engineers. It was really late right now. Probably, eleven or twelve at night.

She sighed. She didn't know whom to call, Jay or Mr. Xu. The chart was still spread out on the table and people were still visiting the museum. Though the place she was in was restricted to enter, someone entered. She quickly noticed.

"Oi, who are you? I'm sure you're not security!," she said.

"Forgot me, miss Kim? We just met yesterday," the man said, as he smiled.

"Mister Min?! What are you doing here? You're not allowed here!," she said as she realized who it was.

"Miss Kim, you said you'd help me, right?," Elvis said.

"Yes, mister Min, but I gotta finish work first," she said.

"No, miss Kim. Your boyfriend will be here to pick you up, then. You gotta help me before that," he said.

"He's not my boyfriend!..What?! How do you know him?! How do you know he's gonna come pick me up?!," she asked, panicking.

"Miss Kim, you're very interesting, as I said earlier," he said as he smirked.

"Security! Security!," she shouted as she felt uncomfortable.

"Oh please, I'm gonna hurt you? Not at all!," he said, jokingly.

"Security! Security!," she shouted again.

"But if you're gonna keep screaming like a damsel in distress for the security, I'm not gonna forgive you. I'll kill you!," he said, furious.

"Security!," she shouted, worried about her safety.

A guard showed up followed by two more. They had guns. They pointed them at him. He took out a dagger from his hoodie.

"Don't move!," the first guard said.

"Oh, why? You gonna shoot? Shoot away, then. Come on. I know you can do it," Elvis said, with a cocky grin.

"He's crazy!," the second guard said, worried.

"Mister, stay away from the girl! We won't hesitate to shoot you!," the third guard said.

"Then why don't you shoot already, damn it?!," Elvis shouted.

The guards couldn't understand him.

"Miss architect, please slowly make your way towards us," the first guard ordered.

Wren nodded. She had left a pen on the table earlier. She would hit him with it if he tried to touch her. She slowly ran towards the guards. But, he was too swift and grabbed a hold of her hair. She quickly took that pen and jammed it into his neck. He hissed in pain. He choked her by furiously grabbing her neck. She was not able to breathe.

"Get him!," the third guard yelled.

The guards quickly got to them and cuffed Elvis. One of them took Wren out of his grip and then outside. They took his dagger.

A group of people had gathered now. As Elvis passed by, he gave Wren a look of malice. He was going to kill her for real.

Wren called Jay later. He picked up. She was crying and couldn't stop shivering.

"J-Jay?," she said, sobbing.

"Wren? What's wrong?! Why are you crying?! Where are you?!," he asked, worried.

"I-I'm at the museum. I-I..that guy tried to kill me. H-he had a dagger. Jay, please come to the museum fast! Please, Jay!," she said.

"Wren, don't worry! I'm coming! Just wait a bit longer! I'm gonna be there soon!," he said, reassuring her.

"Y-yes. Come fast," she said as she cried.

He hung up.

Just then, a police officer put a hand on Wren's back. She was kind and her smile radiated warmth.

"Don't worry. It'll be ok," she said.

"Y-yes. Thank you!," Wren said, stopping her tears from falling.

"I'm your mother's friend. I'll make sure this doesn't get out to the public. Your respect and honor will be safe," she said, smiling at her.

"T-thank you! Thank you so much! I- I don't know how to thank you!," she said, bowing her head.

"You don't need to. It's my job to keep this a secret from the public," the woman said.

"Wren!," a man shouted as he made his way inside.

The police quickly aimed their guns at him.

"Officer, he's a friend," Wren said to the woman when she saw the man and the police's reaction.

"Don't shoot! He's not dangerous," the officer ordered.

They immediately stopped. The man made his way towards Wren. He carresed her cheek and pulled her into a hug. He was extremely worried.

"Wren, are you okay?!," he asked.

"J-Jay, I-I....I'm so glad you're here!," she said.

She broke into tears. She was holding them back for so long but they couldn't be stopped any longer. He was taken aback by her words but he knew he had to keep his composure. He couldn't blush when she was crying. She gripped his shirt tightly as she cried her heart out. She was so very scared right now. His heart hurt seeing her like this.

"Wren, it's okay. I'm here. Don't cry anymore," he said, gently stroking her back.

"Jay, I love you!," she immediately said.

"What?!," he asked, shocked.

She quickly kissed him. He kissed her back. He could not help the echoes of her confession that kept ringing in his ears. He couldn't comprehend the fact that she loved him, and that she kissed him.

When she pulled away, she saw the love in his eyes. But he was not ready to confess yet.

"Excuse me, but I have to talk to you," the officer shouted at Jay from behind.

"Yes, please," he said.

He sat her down on the bench and kissed her forehead. Her cheeks were stained from her tears. She couldn't keep sitting at the museum anymore. It scared her.

When Jay was done talking to the police, they headed home. Wren slept on the way home. The police had already told Wren's mother what had happened, so Jay didn't had to explain anything to her mother.

When they entered the house, Wren's mother started crying. Wren was shocked at her sudden change of behavior. She thought it was because Jay was there, but her mother was not someone easily influenced. It was real! Her mother really cared for her daughter!

Wren broke into tears of mixed emotions as her mother cried because of worry.

The house was absolutely drowning in their tears that night.
