A journey date, part-2

"So what are you doing here at this hour?", asked Haruto.

"I was headed from the city of trade and I am going to go to the city of knowledge."

"The prince has grown a thirst for books I see?"

"Nope."

They both were arguing about that, while Miyu was just sitting the shade, enjoying the scenery and the little wind that came every now and then. The oak tree covered a very vast area. There were no people in the area, as it was noon and everybody went to their homes to rest.

Haruto realised that Miyu was upset about something. Its strange, she wasn't like that just five minutes ago.

"Prince Satoshi, you should accompany the lady a bit more. She seems to be upset about something."

"Miyu is upset?"

"I think so, judging by her expression."

Satoshi went to see what was the problem. He went down to her and asked her,

"What's the problem? Why are you pouting again?"

"...Food."

There was no helping it. It was noon, so it's normal that she would be hungry. But does elves always pout whenever they are hungry?

"What seems to be the problem with the lady?", asked Haruto.

"Food. She needs food. She is hungry."

"I see. You two then stay here, I will pick up a watermelon thats been growing in our land. And its a big one!"

"I will come too."

"Wont the lady be a little concerned being alone?"

"Thats true..."

Satoshi couldn't just leave Miyu here on her own. Because, thats the only thing Miyu hates. Well, that means Satoshi was to stay with Miyu for the time being while Haruto went to get the watermelon.

He went and sat beside Miyu, but she wouldn't stop pouting. She didn't even talk to him. He knew that to calm her, he needs to give her food. But he wanted to tease her a bit.

He put his head on her shoulder, which caught her off guard. She wasn't expecting him to do something like this.

"Stop pouting, will you? Haruto has already went to get some food. You are the first person I have had not to follow my command."

When she heard that food was coming, she calm downed a bit.

"Whats this? Whats this unusual sense of tiredness and slumber? Did the journey take a toll on my body? My eyes feel heavy..."

Before he could completely close his eyes, Haruto came, with a giant watermelon and wooden swords.

"That was fast."

"Well, I was expecting some lovey-dovey acts between lady and the prince. But too bad for me I guess."

"You serious?"

Haruto came and divided the watermelon into big pieces. After both of them had two slices, they gave the rest to Miyu and let her eat while they were practicing their swordplay.

A sword was flung in the air, which fell on the ground. Prince Satoshi was holding the wooden sword at Haruto's neck, finalising his defeat.

"As alway, the prince is undefeated."

"It was hard to defeat you too. The course paid off. I couldn't find any blind spots. If you haven't messed up the last part, the match would last for who knows how much time."

"Getting complimented by the prince is an honour."

"I told you to drop the prince part."

"Well, then. One more match?"

"Sure."

Miyu was watching them fight, while she was there, peacefully eating her portion of watermelon. That cute eating face alone was enough for Satoshi to be distracted, but still, Haruto couldn't defeat him.

Once again, it was Haruto's loss. He still couldn't win against the prince. The prince was getting tired of playing, and he was pretty tired from the journey too. So they decided to call it a day.

He went and lied down beside Miyu, who was sitting. Looking at the plate of hers, he noticed something,

"Miyu, where is the skin of the watermelon?"

"I ate it."

"Huh? You ate those too?"

"Yes."

She truly was an unusual elf girl. Who in their right minds would eat the watermelon with the skin?

Laying down, his eyes were getting heavy. He was getting sleepy. As he closed his eyes in slumber, he heard a noise.

"Whats wrong, Miyu?", asked Satoshi.

"As a token of gratitude, I will offer you my lap as your pillow for today, or you don't want that?", she said.

"It would be a pleasure."

"You sound perverted.", she giggled.

Miyu placed Satoshi's head on her lap and stroke his head until he slept. The stroke was a accelerating factor in his sleep, which made him fall asleep even faster.

After Satoshi put his head on her lap, he noticed that her lap was very soft. It was a little bouncy, in fact. Well, he was too sleepy to notice the small details, so he just went to sleep without thinking much of it.

It was becoming afternoon. Speed was sitting down, taking a rest. Prince Satoshi was sleeping on Miyu's lap, while Miyu was stroking his head. Haruto went out to do some work. Miyu wasn't sleepy at all. In fact, she was very energetic.

She was looking at the stream of water that irrigated that area. It had clean running water. That's where most of the people in that area of the city of crops would get water to drink, she guessed.

Two hours pass by, Prince Satoshi was still sleeping. Miyu didn't know the right time to wake him up. Until she saw Haruto coming back with his black horse. He was wearing a sword too. A real sword this time.

"I am back. The prince is still sleeping?"

"Yeah."

"I think it's better to wake him up. Otherwise, you guys won't be able to make it to the city of knowledge before sunset."

She was hesitating a bit to wake up the prince. To which, Haruto assured her,

"The prince would love to be woken up by you, lady."

"Is that so?"

Miyu slowly woke up Satoshi from his two hour slumber. Opening his eyes, the first thing he saw was Miyu's face. Then he realised what situation he was on and what happened before he had gone to sleep. The lap pillow was very comfortable, according to him.

He got up from her lap and sat upright, before doing some stretches. Looking back, he was a little embarrassed, because he could see his face mark imprinted on Miyu's lap, indicating that he was sleeping for a very long time.

In the meantime, Haruto was taking care of speed and his horse, whose name is Kuro. Like Prince Satoshi and Haruto, these two horses are good friends too.

"I guess its time to restart our journey. It feels great after sleep!", said prince Satoshi.

Going up on speed again, they set out again. But Haruto was following them.

"Are you going to join us in the journey?", asked Satoshi.

"Yes."

"Don't you have work to do?"

"Listen here. I am practically unemployed because you don't give me work. I am directly under you, so get to eat for free. I have a sense of guilt too."

"Well, okay then. I hope you can keep up with us because we are going to crank up the gears."

"My Kuro is fast too, don't underestimate him."

"Well then. Speed, are you ready?"

Speed responded, signalling that he is ready for a race. With an unexpected amount of speed, both Speed and Kuro started running. It was becoming sunset very fast too. So they had to reach the city of knowledge before that. But Miyu seems to be enjoying the date more than anyone.

"This is the best time of my life!", she screamed in joy. But they were going so fast that the wind was blocking her speech.

"Did you say something?"

"Nothinggg"

Soon, they could see the gates of the city of knowledge. It was half a kilometre away. So they slowed down a bit. It was almost the time for sunset. The sky was turning red as the sun sunk into the horizon. A strong wind blew by them, moving the paddy of the paddy fields on their both sides. The clank of the metal armour could be heard from Prince Satoshi.

Like they planned, they reached the city of knowledge before sunset. The city of knowledge is a completely different environment from the previous cities. It was packed with students studying in different courses. Entering the city through the gate, Haruto chanted,

"The prince has arrived!"

"Oh come on. Not you too. You know I hate this chanting."

"Thats why I intentionally did that."

Miyu noticed something. Instead of chanting right away, the students took position beside the two sides of the walkway and then uniformly chanted,

"The prince has arrived!"

Prince Satoshi was the head of all the student councils in that area, so he was respected by the students. As an ability holder, he was the first person to pass all the courses just at the age of ten.

"Wow. They really respect you."

"They do."

It was nighttime. The city of knowledge is the most well lit cities among the other five. Thats because the students study at night too. Well, thats a given.

"So, where are we going?"

"To sleep."

"Huh?"

"Don't you see? Its nighttime. We should be thankful that we were able to come here before sunset. Its better to sleep now and do the rest of the work tomorrow.

"But where are we going to sleep?"

"You don't need to worry about that."

They stopped their horses and stopped at a very famous place. It was in font of the University of Rudy. Made by King Rudy I. It has been standing for more than 150 years now. Their destination is the topmost room of the university, but they aren't going to disturb the students studying there.

"The students study at night too? Don't they need sleep?"

"Well, they teach the students in three shifts, morning, day and night. So they mostly sleep during the day."

Satoshi, being the gentleman he is, went down first and helped Miyu get down. This time, due to some imbalances, she was almost about to fall, but Satoshi saved her. They both were a little flustered about that.

"Well then, I will take care of Speed and Kuro. You can take the lady to the room and leave the rest to me.", said Haruto.

"Well then."

Satoshi looked at Miyu. She knew he was about to do something.

"So, do you want to hold hands or do you want a hug? I am going to do that teleportation ability."

She didn't answer his question. Although she was a little flustered, she just went up and hugged Satoshi when he did the teleportation ability.

Opening her eyes, she was inside an unfamiliar room. It too, was a room for Satoshi on top of the University. Actually, it is the room for the head of student councils. It was used by the previous heads and his sister too when she was the head of the student councils. It was not the office, it was just a living place. The office of the head was one story under.

This room was also a beauty and a masterpiece to look at. It had a bed at the center, a table on the left, a wardrobe on the right and also a couch. There was also this giant glass window from where they could see the whole city of knowledge.

Now, they were stuck in a pretty sticky situation. It was night, and there is a girl and a boy in the same room...

For some reason, he just couldn't let himself sleep with her on the same bed like they did the previous day. Just thinking of that makes his heart skip a beat.

"You sleep on the bed. I will sleep on the couch.", said Satoshi rushing to the couch.

Miyu pouted a bit. She was kind of frustrated. She went to him and held his hand, which surprised him.

"No. You are going to sleep with me."

"Ehh? Miyu-san, do you understand what you are saying?"

"Well because, you are giving me so much stuffs lately. I feel like a spoiled brat not letting you sleep on your own bed.", she said while being embarrassed.

"But still-"

"No talking. We slept together yesterday too."

She was trying to act all cool. But she was flustered too. Well, if anyone were to eavesdrop on their room, they would surely think of it as something else.

At last, Satoshi agreed to her proposal and went to bed. Miyu, on the other hand, put her cloak down before she came and let out her beautiful green hair fall down. Due to her being covered all the time during the journey, he couldn't her fully to appreciate her beauty and how beautiful she looks.

Flapping her ears and being embarrassed, she said,

"Why are you staring at me like that, you pervert."

"Ouch. That hits hard in the heart. I was just appreciating your beauty. And besides, this is the first time someone called me a pervert."

"Serves you right."

She came and sat on the other side of the bed, before they both went to sleep. But Satoshi couldn't help but feel distracted because of her. But she, on the other hand, slept almost instantly.

Her sleeping face was very cute. Satoshi couldn't help but touch her cheeks. It was warm. The gentle touch almost woke her up, so Satoshi refrained from doing it again.

"Elves always sleep fast I guess.", he said to himself, before going back to sleep.

The next time he opened his eyes, it was already morning. He looked around, before realising, Miyu was not in the room. What had happened to her? Where is she?

He hurriedly opened up the door and rushed downstairs, when the sound of bows were heard from the archery room. It was very early in the morning, and no shifts were going on at that time.

Entering into the archery room, he was amazed and relieved at the same time. Stood there Miyu, holding a bow, taking the perfect position. She drew back the arrow wonderfully and with great attention, before letting it go. The arrow hit the bullseye at the first try.

After that, she looked at Satoshi. But before she could say anything, she was suddenly embraced by him.

"Idiot. Don't ever run away like that. I was worried, you know?"

"Sorry sorry."

The situation calmed down a bit. Satoshi and Miyu sat down. She didn't expect him to act like this. He was being a little overprotective.

"Miyu, I didn't knew you were such a good archer."

"Am I? Hehe. The archery club at our school paid off I guess."

"Huh?"

He still didn't realise what she was talking about.

"I am surprised. With your skill, you can surly be a Class A archer."

"Well, as the personal assistant of the Prince, I had to have some special skill, right?" She said with a grin.

"There you go teasing me again. Well nobody's looking so I can do some teasing too-"

He grabbed Miyu's cheeks with both of his hands. They were surprisingly soft.

"Satoshii, it hurts.", she mumbled.

Hearing that, he immediately removed his hands. Not because he felt like he was hurting her, but because it was the first time she called him by his name.

"What happened?", asked Miyu.

"N-nothing"

After some time, Satoshi got up.

"I should go and freshen myself up."

"I have already done that. I want to practice archery some more."

"Alright then. Suit yourself."

Satoshi went to the restroom. There, he stood before the mirror.

"New day, new me. But Miyu's still beautiful... what am I even thinking?",said him before washing his face and coming back to the archery room.

The students were already coming to the classes for their shifts. But the students of the archery club was making a fuss in the corridor as well as other students of other courses. All of them gathered to see Miyu's magnificent archery skills.

Seeing the Prince walking into the room, all made space for him.

"What magnificent skills you have! I am surprised. Which course did you do to master such skills?", said the head teacher of the archery course. He was a very old and good man who served as the chief archer for Satoshi's grandfather.

"Umm. I honed these skills by myself.", Miyu said proudly. Well, that was to be expected from her boastful character.

"Oh my. Is that so? You will make for a fine archer.", would you like to give a trial to our course?"

"You want to join the trial?", asked Satoshi, putting his hand on her.

"Prince Satoshi-sama! Long time no see! Its she your acquaintance by any chance?"

"She is my personal assistant."

"What a coincidence!"

"Can I just do the trial before the course?", asked Miyu.

"Sure. As you please."

She looked at Satoshi for confirmation. Satoshi agreed, nodding his head. Satoshi had to work finding the books relating to the history of the world, and Miyu would most probably be bored as there was nothing else to do besides reading books. So it works for both. Miyu and Satoshi too.

As Miyu was getting acquainted with her new classmates, Satoshi is now off to find the history behind the elf and human war.
