The first job.

Entering Prince Satoshi's room, she closed the door. She let out a big sigh, before stretching herself. Looking around the fimiliar room, she went to his desk where all the important papers were kept.

"Alright. This is my first job as Prince's personal assistant! I can't let him down!"

As she guessed, there was paper and pen for her to use. She sat there, feeling like a King.

"This is the place that he sits on every day for work. I can't believe he can concentrate working in such a messy desk. I want to do something and rearrange the table, but it contains important paperwork so I guess I should ask him first before doing it."

Looking around, she thought of something,

"Its becoming more and more hot. Well, there is no one here, so I guess I can put down my cloak for now."

Removing the cloak and putting it in a nearby chair, she then again went back to work.

She realised tthat her previous idea was not so good, so she scrapped that. As it is going to be the prince's emblem, it should represent the people. She was trying her best to make one that would represent all of the five cities.

She was looking around for some inspiration, something that would make a spark in her head.

"Found it! I got an idea!", she screamed with joy, before she started to draw.

After around ten minutes or so, she completed the drawing. She picked the paper up and looked at it a second time for confirmation. It was such a simple, yet elegant design.

It was just a simple drawing of a book and quill. Now, people might not understand at first what meaning it carries,

"The book signifies knowledge, the quill signifies the sacrifice of the animals, a mechanic makes the books and a merchant sells it!"

Her childish personality is also acting up on this. It was a childish idea nonetheless, but it was still better than the previous emblem, which only had two swords crossed together.

Put put down the paper, placed the paperweight and leaned back on the chair. Her first work was finally done as the personal assistant of Prince Satoshi.

"... but all this seems like too real to be a dream. Makes me wonder if I am actually dreaming or not. Maybe I became isekai'd to this world, according to the mangas. Well, thats just a speculation. But If its a dream, I don't want it to end, ever.", she whispered to himself.

She got up again,"Alright, time for final touches."

At this time, the doors of Prince Satoshi's room moved. Both Satoshi and Haruto were entering the room. But the problem is, Miyu already removed her cloak. She tried to hide behind one of the curtains, but slipped on a paper and fell to the ground. That large noise concerned both of them, who then hurried to her.

"Lady, are you okay-"

There, he saw it. Haruto saw Miyu without the cloak. Having green hair, green eyes, and most importantly, long ears, which were flapping around.

"Ouch... that hurt."

"... an... elf?"

Realising the situation, Satoshi knew the secret couldn't be kept any longer. He closed the door behind them.

"Prince Satoshi, could you please care to explain?"

In short, Satoshi explained everything,

"So thats how you met the lady, huh?"

"Yeah."

"That explains the reason why you became suddenly interested in history."

"Could you please keep it a secret?"

"Who do you think I am? I am zipping up my lips if you want."

"Well, I won't recommend you to go that far. But thanks."

"I am your childhood friend. I won't say a thing. I won't do something that would make you not to trust me, after all the effort I put to gain your trust."

"Aren't you a bit doubtful to trust me this much? Well, elves are hated by the people, so I thought you would react differently."

"Like I said previously, I will support the Prince's decision. And I don't believe in those past tales. If one is truly bad, I need to see for myself to confirm. The lady didn't do anything bad like that, so she is good in my eyes."

They were having a conversation sitting down on the couch. Satoshi noticed that her ears were down, signalling that she was sad.

"Umm, Haruto. Couldn't you please go out of the room for a moment."

Haruto understood the assignment. He immediately went out, giving time to Satoshi and Miyu.

When she heard Satoshi asked Haruto to go outside, she was scared. It was the first time that she felt fear from him. She thought he was going to punish her for it. Well, it all happened because of her blunder, after all. It was only natural for her to get some kind of punishment.

"I-I am sorry, Prince Satoshi. I-I am s-sorry. I will accept any punishment you give me."

"Any punishment, you say?"

"Yes."

She was expecting the worst form of punishment. But instead, got the best one. She sat down from the couch and to the floor, closing her eyes and looking down, as if she were to be executed.

But then, she felt something warm. She could feel the warmth of Satoshi's heart. As she opened her eyes, she saw Prince Satoshi, wrapping his hands around her, giving her a hug.

"Prince Satoshi?"

"As punishment, I ask you to stay like this for a couple more minutes."

She couldn't resist her tears. Somehow, it just felt from her eyes. To calm her down, Satoshi started stroking her in the head the same way her sister did in his dream. But its too bad that he forgot about that dream.

After a few minutes of crying, Miyu calmed down. Her face was red from all the crying, but her ears went up a bit, signalling that Satoshi had made progress in brightening up her mood. She truly is such an unusual elf girl that he had encountered.

"Aren't you mad?"

"Not at all. I wasn't expecting it to be hidden for a long time. Getting exposed is going to happen sooner or later, but I guess it happened a little bit sooner that I had planned.", Satoshi giggled a bit.

"I am sorry."

"You don't need to be sorry. You don't need to worry too. For you are under my protection.", said Satoshi, wiping out her tears.

"Thank you for what you've done for me."

"I should be the one thanking you instead. My boring life has become a lot more enjoyable after you came."

After everything settled down, Haruto entered the room.

"Prince Satoshi, I do have to say, that was some next level flattery."

"...you heard?"

"I could hear it. I didn't know that our prince was capable of doing such a thing."

The prince looked away in embarrassment. He himself didn't know how he made himself say that. He just did that on the heat of the moment.

"Ooh, is this the drawing of the emblem you came up with? It's beautiful!", said Haruto, going to the Prince's desk.

"Thanks."

"Let me see too.", said the prince,"Oh, you are right. It is beautiful."

"Should I finalise it for you, Prince Satoshi?"

"It would help a lot."

"Alright then. I got myself a new job. Now its time to work. I am heading out now."

"Okay."

As soon as Haruto went out of the room, Miyu collapsed to the ground. But thankfully, Satoshi was there to save her from falling. He grabbed her and prevented the fall. It was yet another strange behaviour of elves. They tend to sleep after are sad.

Having no other option, she picked her up and placed her to the bed. Elves are surprisingly lightweight. He hardly felt the weight of her. But he didn't know if it was him who was just very strong or not.

As he put her down to bed. He was looking at her sleeping face again. But this time, his intrusive thoughts almost won.

As he was watching her closer and closer, until he was too close to her face. He was about to kiss her in the lips while she slept, when Hina-san knocked at the door.

"Satoshi-sama, Satoshi-sama!"

He immediately backed up. Going out of the room, he went to see what the matter was. Hina-san came with a letter, addressing his name. As he opened the roll, he noticed that it was from her sister.

"Big sis sent me a letter? For what reason?"

It was an emergency invitation to the Kingdom of Fina, Princess Yumi's new home. But an emergency invitation at this time was suspicious. The letter told Satoshi to prepare for the journey as soon as possible.

"What is it, Satoshi-sama?"

"Sorry Hina-san, but could you please arrange me two swords, a bit of provisions and Speed?"

"You look distressed, Satoshi-sama. What seems to be the matter?"

"Big sis asked me to go to the kingdom of Fina. I will be heading there tomorrow."

"As you please."

After that, he went inside to his room again, sat down on his chair and and let out a big sigh.

"Another journey. Seems tiring enough."

He could see Miyu sleeping in the corner of his eyes.

"Well, I guess it won't be a boring one, seeing that she will be with me. I shouldn't call Haruto yet. He is busy making preparations for the emblem. So its just me and Miyu, then."

Life these times were going full of surprises now, after this elf came into Satoshi's life, seemingly from nothingness.

A few hours later, Miyu woke up naturally. She couldn't remember how she fell asleep, but she was on the Prince's bed. The prince, on the other hand, was sitting on his chair doing paperwork. On the looks of things, it was nighttime. Miyu was sleeping the whole day.

"It was a pretty long sleep, wasn't it?"

"Yeah."

For some reason, she was still tired. It felt like she could sleep more. But it seems like the Prince was doing all the work for himself. So she felt guilty falling asleep again.

She got up and went to the prince. The room was a little dim at night, but she could see everything pretty clearly.

"Do you need anything to help?", said Miyu, standing beside him.

"I don't think so. I can do these myself."

"You know, you should arrange your paperworks a bit more."

"I was thinking about that. It would be problematic if a certain someone slipped on a paper which would risk their identity."

"You are teasing me again, just when I thought of helping you.", she pouted.

"Sorry sorry. Its just that you are so cute, I can't help it."

Upon hearing that, she became flustered. She covered her face with her hands in embarrassment. Her face and ears were both red, and her ears started flapping.

"... Baka. Baka Satoshi.", she said, making a gap between her fingers.

After that, she helped him clean his desk up and made it neat.

"You know, you would make for a great wife."

Miyu felt like she is going to have a fever because of all the flattery the prince is doing.

"Would you be my wife?", Satoshi said, "Just kidding-"

"... If s-someone like me is o-okay with you...", said Miyu, being embarrassed. Her ears were showing that she was very excited. Her heart was beating so fast that she felt like it could even outshine the speed of a horse.

Satoshi just realised what had happened. He accidentally confessed to her. His heart suddenly started to palpate more than before.

Out of embarrassment, Miyu went and jumped on the bed, face down. While Satoshi was thinking of what he just did.

"Well, if it had come to this, then...", he said to himself, before going to Miyu and hugging her, while she was in bed.

He didn't say a word, but his actions spoke louder than his words. After a few seconds, he let go of her and went back to his table, where he started working again as if nothing happened.

Well, it was all on the outside. On the inside though, he was super embarrassed. He couldn't even bring himself to speak up about the fact that they were going to the Kingdom of Fina tomorrow.

In the end, he just wrote about the journey that they were going to make in a paper and handed it to Miyu, who was still embarrassed.

"U-understood."

"W-well. T-thats good."

They confessed at night, and in the morning, they were going on a journey alone? That feels too good to be true.

Drowsiness hit her again for some reason, and she felt really sleepy. Satoshi isn't going to sleep until he finishes the work. And he is going to sleep on the chair, because right now, he just can't bring himself to sleep on the bed with the Miyu anymore.

"Finally, I completed all the pending works. Now I can sleep peacefully."

Before closing off all his works and going to sleep, he reviewed the journey one last time. They are going to the city of fish, where the only port of their Kingdom was situated. They were going to the neighbouring Kingdom of Fina by sea. The reason? The waters are a safe way to travel long distances.

After that, his body couldn't hold it anymore. It was past midnight, and he can barely stay awake. He just slept off without turning off the chandelier.

In the morning, a soothing voice was heard becoming sharper and sharper. Opening his eyes, he realised that it was Miyu, waking him up.

"Prince Satoshi. Please wake up. Its time to head out."

She was wearing once again, a new and gorgeous outfit. Wearing that very fimiliar cloak, she seemed to be pretty excited for the new journey they were heading to.
