Chapter 6:

Doing something about my rank (part 3)

Your average isekai story

The cave walls were completely wet in this cold , and there was a thin line of water flowing below.

I took a deep breath and clenched my teeth. Damn, my left hand hurts like hell; I definitely broke it. I wish I had a potion right now. I think an average healing potion costs a fortune.

After 4 hours of continuous walking, I reached a dead end in the cave—or at least that's what you would think if you ignored the small crack in the corner through which a person could barely squeeze.

I squeezed my body through the crack and started moving. For a minute, I thought I got stuck, but somehow I managed to reach the other side of the crack.

It was beautiful.

The cave wall was covered with glowing roots. The water of the pond was incredibly clear, and in the middle of the pond, there stood a snow-white tree. Glowing crystals were scattered around, which were mona crystals used for storing mona. Unfortunately, I hadn't brought any mining tools with me; I bet I could have made a fortune by selling them.

No, right now my goal isn't making money. I slowly started walking towards the tree. As I entered the pond, a chilling feeling covered my body, and I noticed my hand was healing. I knew the speed of healing wasn't something you could rely on daily, but it was better than nothing. Then I suddenly realized it wasn't water, but something thick like honey. It felt so soothing that I decided to sit there until my hand was fully healed.

After the healing was complete, I reached the tree and saw the fruit – the item I had been trying to find. It resembled an apple at first glance, but looking at it felt like I was gazing into the depths of the cosmos.

I plucked the fruit and saliva pooled in my mouth. I took a bite of it, and let me tell you, it wasn't a taste you'd ever crave. In fact, it was more than horrible; the word "horrible" wouldn't even be sufficient to describe the taste.

I think the taste was so awful that I can't even recall when I finished it. But as soon as I did, it felt like I was engulfed in fire, and my body was slowly burning. My bones were breaking, and every tissue in my body was tearing apart.

The intense pain caused me to lose consciousness.
