Chapter 32:

Extra: Welcome to the Whimsical Matchmaking Brigade

The Whimsical Matchmaking Brigade

"Hmm, White Day is coming up," Ryota said, rubbing his chin. "What should I do?"

"That's what I'm wondering," Sato replied. "You're dating Mai now. Are you going to give her chocolate?"

"Chocolate, huh?" Ryota thought about it for a moment.

He was never good with chocolate.

And White Day was the day for him to return the favor.

"It's a problem," he continued. "I don't have any chocolate, and I can't just go buy some at the store."

"I can't see the part where it's my problem."

"Sato!"

"Remind me how you confessed to her, Ryo-kun."

Yuki asked with a playful tone in her voice.

Sato jumped from his seat, smirking.

"Oh, I remember. I don't think Ryota confessed. Mai confessed to him."

"Sato! Don't say that!" Ryota blushed.

"She went like, 'I love you, and I want you to become my boyfriend!' and then he went on a tsundere mode, and they had this awkward conversation," Sato continued. "And that's how they started dating."

"Oh, come on, Sato! It wasn't that bad!"

Yuki laughed.

"Sato, you suck at making fun of people," she said, shaking her head.

"That reminds me. What the hell are you doing here? You should be in the student council room!"

"Ah! Did I forget to tell you? I resigned."

"WHAT? Why?"

"Why? Because it's so much fun here. I can be beside you here!"

"Looks like someone will receive a confession soon enough. Should I start recording?"

"Ryota!"

"Okay, okay."

Ryota took his phone out and put it on the table.

"You won't return to the student council?" Sato asked, scratching his head.

"Of course not! I will be here for you, sweetheart!"

"Ryota! Save me!"

Ryota looked at Sato with a sympathetic smile. "I can't see the part where it's my problem. Good luck!"

At that moment, Mai walked into the room holding a small bag.

"I am so late!" she exclaimed. "And you three are still here?"

She went straight to Ryota, hugging him tightly.

"What's up with that?" he asked. "What happened?"

"Nothing, just saying hello."

"Last time I checked the dictionary, 'hello' was a word, not a hug!"

"Oh, come on, don't be so stiff!" she replied, patting him on the shoulder. "That's so cold, Darling!"

"Um, Mai-chan," Yuki said, trying to ignore what she was hearing. "What is in that bag?"

"Oh, these are chocolates."

"Chocolate?"

"For everyone. There's one for each person here."

"Is it okay to take them?"

"Of course. I made them myself."

Before she could even finish her sentence, Sato reached for the bag, pulling it from her hands.

He glanced at her, licking his lips.

"O-Oh! That's..."

"Delicious! exceptional! Mouth-watering!"

Yuki was already eating one.

Ryota and Sato followed her lead, biting into the chocolate.

"Mai-chan! Your chocolate is really something else!"

Sato laughed, biting another chocolate.

Wait, another chocolate?

Ryota noticed something.

"Pre- I mean Mai, you said there's one for each person here, right?"

He glanced at her, waiting for her response.

"Yes, I made five pieces. Me, Yuki, Hatsumi, Sato, and you. Though Hatsumi didn't come today."

It was a second later that Sato realized his mistake.

"Oh, right. She made only five. I ate two!"

He smiled, hoping Mai would ignore what he said.

Ryota laughed.

"Time for me to leave," Sato said, standing up from his seat.

He took his bag and walked out as quickly as he could.

It took Yuki a fraction of a second to figure out what he did.

She took her bag and followed him.

"Sato! You dummy! Don't run!"

Mai watched as the two of them ran out of the room.

She giggled, shaking her head.

"He really doesn't change, does he?"

"You won't eat your chocolate, Mai?"

"Um... I'll keep it for Hatsumi."

Ryota didn't like that idea.

He swiftly took the last piece of chocolate.

"What are you doing-"

"Eat it!"

"But..."

"Just take it."

He took the piece of chocolate and put it between his lips.

He grabbed Mai's hand and pulled her closer.

Gently, he pressed his lips against hers.

Mai pulled back, blushing.

"Um... Ryota... what..."

"The chocolate."

"Huh?"

"You finally took it."

"I don't know if I should be angry or happy about it..."

She turned away, covering her blushing cheeks with her hand.

A moment later, she realized the chocolate was in her mouth all this time.

"Oh, I'm such a dummy!"

"Yep. A cute dummy."

"That was my first-"

Ryota chuckled, feeling content with himself.

A soft knock on the door interrupted them.

They turned their attention towards the entrance, curious about the unexpected visitor. The door creaked open, revealing a timid girl standing on the threshold, her eyes darting nervously around the room. She took a hesitant step forward, her voice barely above a whisper. “Um, excuse me,” she began, her tone trembling slightly. “I am sorry to intrude, but I have a problem, and I heard that the Whimsical Matchmaking Brigade might help.”

"Welcome to the Whimsical Matchmaking Brigade. How can we help you today?"
