Chapter 12:

The Little moments

I Ruined My Wife's Family

Chapter 12

"Rei-sama, what are you doing?" The maid, Koko, was a young maid with blonde hair and blue eyes. She blankly waited for Rei to tell her what he was doing. It wasn't a wonder only for her but the whole staff.

"Trying to learn how to clean?" Rei, the rich son of the family, who they have been working for over twenty years, was in the kitchen for the first time.

"Yes, I can see that but why?" Koko noticed her tone seemed rude so she added. "This work is beneath you, Rei-sama. You don't have to do it."

"I want to help..." Rei looked around as everyone stopped what they were doing and just focused on him. He was on the sink, washing dishes on their behalf.

You are not helping, you are causing more of a mess. Is what she wished to say but she resisted the urge to let him know. She was next to him, also on dish duty.

"I can see that but I mean, you don't need to help us. We are hired and paid to do this." Koko tried to be as polite as possible. It was making them uncomfortable seeing him with them. He was their master.

Her hand rotated on the plate, trying to focus on her job.

"Well... I... I wanted to help my mother-in-law. She cleans alone at home and I wanted to lift up her burden." Rei softly said as cleaning the dishes became easier now that he was doing it for the fifth time. All the staff that were eavesdropping, looked at his back, surprised by the revelation. "I wanted to learn what everyone does so I can do it too."

They usually never talk with the young master of the house so his words eased them, the tension immediately gone in an instant. The people who didn't have courage to speak to him, finally gained it.

"So you are doing this to help your mother-in-law? Rei-sama! That's so sweet!" A middle aged maid interlocked her fingers together, smiling. "Oooh, I've not heard that from my own son-in-law. You can ask me for anything, I'll gladly help."

"If you want to learn how to cook, you can come to me." An older chef tapped at his counter, where the chopping board was . "I'll teach you easy dishes that will impress her."

"I can show you how to mop?" a nervous, timid, younger maid in charge of mopping responded.

"If you need help with the windows, can I help too?" A young butler pointed at the window with multiple panes. "I can show you a technique to make sure it goes fast and smooth... if that's what you are looking for."

Rei was slightly surprised when more people kept talking to him. He never had a conversation with the maids, chefs, or his butler. He only talked with the main butler. He smiled wide, nodding. "I would love to get everyone's help."

He smiled, bowing. They immediately bowed back in worry but they also couldn't help but find him extremely endearing and polite which none of the members of this family were. "I'll be in your care."

"We will be yours too." They smiled back at him, actually looking forward to teaching him

It's been two days since he met Kaito and since he started learning how to manage a house from the maids and butlers. Cooking was the most difficult part to master but his chef reassured him it's not easy for most people.

Rei looked at his phone, waiting for the clock to hit seven thirty.

"Why don't you just text her if you miss her that much." Koko's emotionless eyes bore into Rei as she swept the ground of their garden. There were more dead flowers and trees now that winter approached.

"Ughh she doesn't have her phone with her." Rei whined, annoyed, sweeping the floor aggressively. "Not that... I miss her or anything like that. I'm just making sure I take her on time. I'm just punctual."

What a lie but Koko didn't point it out as it's not her place to interfere with her master's personal life when she knew nothing. She continued sweeping the garden, watching as Rei, once again, cleaned but really, brought all the dust in her side.

You are not helping, you are just creating more work. Is what she wished to say but knowing he was trying for a sweet goal made it easy to forgive. "Like this master."

She demonstrated for him and he followed along, being softer with his swaying, focusing on the dust. Suddenly, the alarm rang and Rei immediately pulled out his phone. Seven thirty. He handed Koko the other pair of broomsticks, taking off the apron on his body in a hurry. "I need to pick my wife, so I'll leave you to this."

"As you wish, Rei-sama." She bowed.

Back in Rei's room, Kana ran towards their bed, arms spread apart as she jumped into the bed and she rolled and hugged the pillows, swaying left and right. "I miss this room!"

Rei gave her a derpy look, acting annoyed. "What about me?"

She missed the room but not him? He let out a sigh as he sat on the floor, leaning on the coffee table with half of his body laying there, letting out a whiny groan. Despite what he said, he felt happy. The tingling feeling was in his chest at the thought that, even if she didn't miss him, she missed his room. His room out of all. The room that used to be lonely and boring gave someone comfort. He couldn't resist the smile, he covered his face so she wouldn't catch on.

She blushed at his words, also covering her face from his view. "Why would I miss you? Don't get ahead of yourself."

"Let me get ahead of myself," Rei muttered to himself.

"Did you say something?" Kana didn't catch what he said.

"Nothing. I was just saying, Director Kousei called and he gave me the script of the drama. The filming will be in a month." Rei pointed a finger towards the coffee table he was laying on. At the mention of the script, Kana immediately got off the bed, sitting down across him as she grabbed the script with enthusiasm.

If only she was that excited to see him. He slid back down, pushing his stomach away from the table and stared at her. She lowered the paper, placing it on the table, turning the page. He had his chin on both of his palms, ignoring everything.

"Did he find all the actors?" Kana asked, looking to see which character she was meant to play. She heard she got a main role which... she wasn't sure how she got it. They usually casted the main roles first.

"Hmm, I heard everyone was already picked except the male lead but then the actress who was supposed to play Maki had another drama shoot that overlapped so she withdrew from this so you got the role instead." Rei moved his head left and right, not looking away from Kana.

"Oh really? I guess I got lucky." Kana smiled, happy about the opportunity. "It seems like I'll play the antagonist? I'll be the one creating problems for you and the female lead."

Rei stopped moving. The character she was playing would be a character that would get a lot of hate as she was a pest, trying to break the lovers apart. He didn't want her to take that role because he knew how fans can be passionate enough that they can't tell the difference between the actress and the character but... "You will make an exceptional villain. I think you have talent for that."

He felt like he saw the potential when she acted the hitman on his behalf and when she kicked Ren without hesitation.

"Ahh! I've always wanted to play a character like this!" Kana turned to another page and got off her seat to bring a notebook.

Rei had his feet hit each other under the table, moving for no reason. Usually, a lot of famous actors avoid these types of roles because their agency wants them to only be admired and liked, never hated. "What? Do you like these roles?"

She returned back with a notebook and a can of cola that she can never drink at home. She passed him one and he amusedly took it, noting how she was breaking the family rules in his room all the time.

"I wanted to play a character like this... because I think it would be fun to be rude." Kana chuckled and Rei followed, understanding why. It is always nice to act the worst person on earth but not actually mean it.

Kana then went silent, drinking the cola and turning a page. She wrote some notes on what she thinks Maki's personality traits are. Rei continued to stare at her as she studied.

It went on and on, Rei's eyes never tore away from her. She shifted on her seat, trying to ignore the intensity he was looking at her with.

"What are you thinking about so deeply?" Kana asked, wondering why he didn't look away from her for ten minutes already. It was distracting.

"I'm imagining kissing you," he nonchalantly replied, eyes on her lips, fingers on his own lips.

She spit out her drink, shocked by the bold words that came out of nowhere. She wiped her mouth. "You need help."

"You are right... I do." He leaned in close, inches away from her face, smiling teasingly. "I need you to help me with that."

"Work on better pick up lines." She shook her head, standing up to move away from him, taking the script with her. She fanned her face with the paper, being as discreet as she could about it.

"I'm working on them. I'm working on it." He mumbled, pouting as he watched her back, walking away from him. "Why is she so hard to win?"

Rei dropped down to his back, feeling the painful hit on his body. He stared at the ceiling, raising his hands. The fact he actually wanted a kiss... surprised him. His heart thumped at the possibilities but he shook his head, trying to ignore. Can she stay away from his mind? She didn't need to be in his head when she was already nearby. He lightly slapped his cheeks before heaving himself up in a crunch style, standing up. He will focus on work, so he went to get on laptop, where he knew Kaito messages him about the updates about what he found.

In a dark room, in a place where barely anyone was frequently visiting, Ryouga pulled out his tie, reading the text messages he was sent from all his spies. He scoffed. "What? His lawyer is going to side with the victims? Is he trying to ruin our family's reputation?"

Minami slowly walked up to him, sitting on his lap as she wrapped her arm around his neck. "What is it, honey? Is something wrong?"

He raised his head to where she was. "Nothing serious. It just seems I'll have to teach my brother a lesson."

He threw his phone on the side, standing up, making his wife slip past as he went to grab a burner phone. He dialled the first number that popped up, waiting for someone to pick up. With a slight click, a deep voice greeted. "Hey. What is it this time?"

"It's just a small job." Ryouga casually said as his finger trailed on wife's arms. "I need you to scare someone. Don't kill him, just break a few bones. If you cripple him too, that would be good too. I only ask you to keep him alive. I'll send you his picture so I want you to get it done by this week."

Minami smiled, leaning into his shoulder seductively.

"Consider it done" They closed up and Ryouga smiled. He has left Rei alone for a long time. It was time to remind him of his place again.
