The Memory of a Smile

When its head finishes forming, we don't see any eyes or hair; it's just a kind of faceless monster, all dark, bolts of electricity and dark filigree surrounding and covering the energy. They emanate from his body in a bursting form, as if his body could not contain so much energy. Sometimes a fire, ice and lightening appears on its body and then submerge back into it.

Even without having a mouth, it makes an ear-piercing roar. Raion falls to the ground, feeling the same nature and energy, all the power that this beast has. “Everything is suffering…” he whispers when I help him up.

“Don't worry, King, we could handle everything before, we can handle this.”

“Focus on one thing, one goal and everything you do should be for that,” Dai says and summons his best armor, the heaviest and most exhausting, but all his stats and abilities increase. “Let's finish this and go for a drink, please.”

“I really need it,” says Yuki and we all drink the last potion we have. “We'll see who lasts longer drinking. Seeing the future King drunk will be a nice experience.”

“First, let's worry about all the surroundings,” Raion asks, his cheeks pink, probably embarrassed to imagine himself in a drunk situation.

The monsters have increased by a thousand, we are completely surrounded.

But at that moment, a tornado comes out of nowhere and several people fall. Among them is Captain Mina. In front of him there is someone, taller and stronger, with a hat on his head and a smile from ear to ear.

“We came to help,” says this new man, the power he emanates is incredible. “We'll cover your backs, you take care of that ugly thing.”

“Thank you, Captain Mina!” exclaims Yuki and throws him a kiss and he blushes. Yuki can be cruel sometimes and her charms are terrible. She winks at me and smiles, “Charge, guys.”

So we do, our auras shine. We approach it and dodge its attacks. Now it not only plays with the elements, but also with the creation of weapons, tornadoes, anything comes out of his hands and we can barely keep up.

Raion tries to give us an advantage, but we are not achieving it. When we land our blows he recovers immediately. I feel connected to Raion and he knows it, we can feel our presence without seeing each other. When the strange monster attacks me, I shield myself, but it pushes me several metters and Raion holds me, alleviating the impact.

“He is using the five magics… of the five original tribes.”

“Wouldn't that be impossible?” I ask Raion after getting up from his arms.

He shakes his head. “Not really, many years ago there was a person like that, they say that maybe he was the origina—”

“I don't think we need history lessons now, Rai” I say making his face a bit red.

“On the other side they are the same,” he recaps and summarizes the important part. “They have not yet defeated both dark beings, now there is one of these beings from the other side as well, along with a powerful light like you, Kaiko.”

“Ah, yes? It's true… if I concentrate, I can feel them both, also fighting.” I wonder who those two people will be, looking seriously at Raion. “What do we do? We summon all our energy, right?”

“Whenever you want, guys, eh” Yuki and Daichi shout, who have been protecting us from the attacks. I wave my arms to annoy them, “Focus, Kai, damn it!!”

I look carefully at Raion, waiting for his answer, and he nods.

“Yes, Kai, let's summon all our power,” Raion takes a breath and starts to summon his golden energy. “We are all part of one another, remember this, Kai! I will summon my power one last time.” Golden aura and filigree emanates from him, in a peaceful way, flowing from it as if it were nature itself. The grass and flowers begin to grow from the dry earth beneath him.

“All or nothing, my King!” I exclaim and prepare to charge at the enemy.

Raion's energy bursts from himself, he is with his palms together and his eyes closed. His golden energy travels towards me, towards Yuki and Daichi, making the three of us as one.

Raion opens his eyes and I see a golden glow in his pupils. Love, memories, affection to Loaw, Kian, Yuki, to myself and especially to Daichi, all that flows through me. I can feel that Daichi is a strong pillar in the life of the future King Raion.

My power is at its maximum, my rings appear and my left sword is reborn with its same aura. From my arms, the turquoise armor extends to my shoulders. Little by little I feel how it continues to extend until it forms a complete armor.

I can feel a new power in me, or maybe I always had it, hidden, latent, waiting to be awakened. The armor begins to shine golden in some areas. My filigree, flames and aura, everything is combined with him; the feeling is incredible.

“It's the moment of truth,” I prepare to summon energy in my legs and run towards the enemy. “Let's see how you swallow this power, damn monster!”

Emperor Command: Crossed Celestial Flames.

I cross my swords in an X and in one step I break the sound barrier, it almost hurts me, but Raion's energy protects me and increases resistance. I manage to cut the monster in half, although it roars in pain, it regenerates instantly.

I charge again and this time it's harder; a shield made of pure energy surrounds it and I can barely pierce it with my sword. I retreat towards Raion, while Daichi and Yuki try to make it retreat, cutting its arms, attacking from a distance, freezing it and throwing huge blocks of earth.

They protect us in a way that they don't seem to rest for a second, I don't know what we would do without them. We are running out of time, their energy and life are decreasing, but it’s not fast enough.

I am about to charge again, but Raion stops me. “Wait a second,” he says and closes his eyes, as if looking or sensing something. He grabs my hands tightly and I start to see what he feels, I close my eyes and see, among the current of energy there are two bright silhouettes fighting against this fearsome being.

My body begins to shine more than before, now the energy it gives off is not only golden and turquoise, it is also red and violet, “It is from both of them!!”

“That's right, we are united, the four of us, a union to all living beings around us.” What he says makes sense, because I feel a tingling in my wrists and chest, I am sure it is the power of them. “Now we are ready.”

With each step I take, I leave a footprint on the earth full of life, could it be that united magic can make the earth reborn? It will be a conversation for later with Raion, one more thing to do and talk about before dying.

A blinding light begins to emerge from me, it prevents me from seeing and I close my eyes. My helmet of the armor grows; I don't need to see to feel that unnatural darkness that the monster gives off.

I feel like I can fly; I start to dodge all the attacks as if I were in rhythm with nature.

I hear the heartbeats of Yuki and Daichi in full combat and I help them by giving support. With each step I make the monster retreat. Each time, pure magic is released. I decide to charge all my energy in one blow, to end this once and for all.

“Release all our power when I tell you,” I hear Raion's voice in my head, “The three of us must do it at the same time.”

For several seconds I make the enemy retreat, while he summons more and more monsters, lightning bolts that are born from the earth, spheres full of dark energy. I can feel all that without seeing, I can feel the absolute pain they have. We have to end it now.

“Get ready.” Raion spent his last energy on his last spell and I feel how we are united by his sacred Bandhan power, “GO, NOW!”

I run without stopping towards the monster, which summons several magical barriers, but I destroy them all with ease. I run at the speed of sound once again, I feel how my body asks for rest, the blood in my ears and the pain in each of my muscles. It’s not fast enough, I need more.

I increase my energy, breaking my limit, shining more and more, a blinding fire that purifies everything in its path. I feel how my power, our power, increases towards infinity.

King Emperor Command: Sacred Nova Cataclysm!

My body goes through the last barrier and breaks all its defenses. I destroy the unnatural being and impact directly on the Core. The darkness seems to try to eat me, absorb me. I feel all the hatred, the anger, the injustice. The power I carry in me is greater, the kindness of all, the desire to continue, the desire to give our best. I feel Yuki's love very strong inside me, I want to be able to hug and be with her once more. I want to protect our friends, families.

The combined power of our dreams, to leave our mark and know that we matter, all the experiences of my friends surround me, make me shine like never before.

I see the other two silhouettes shining with the same intensity, defeating this horrible evil on their sides and putting an end to everything. Our power defeats this darkness and anti-natural energy. My body burns like it never burned before, consuming everything in its path. The roar of hatred and pain of the monster gradually ceases, giving way to our victory.

A white and pure light begins to emerge in front of me, surrounding me. I hope that finally the dark beings will stop, that we can finally rest. I want those Vivrras with all of them. I can see my friends smiling and singing victory

In this light I see the smiles of those two silhouettes making me remember, finally, what I wanted to remember for years…

I can't help but feel a certain sadness and nostalgia for all those moments I spent with him. I treasure in my heart every second, despite having forgotten. My tears do not stop, it flows incessantly, like a river following its destiny.

I wonder what will be mine now.
