Chapter 4:

The First Friend

Reborn as a Prince in Another World

I spent the next few days of my new life getting used to my new environment and learning new things.

I continued to bond with my new parents and enjoy their company. They were always there for me, supporting me and encouraging me. They also gave me a lot of freedom and space, allowing me to explore and discover things on my own. They trusted me and respected me as their son and their friend.

I also continued to learn about this world and this kingdom. I read many books and papers that my parents gave me or that I found in the library. I learned about the geography, history, culture, politics, economy, military, magic, technology, and more of this world and this kingdom. I also learned about the other countries and races that existed in this world, their allies and enemies, their strengths and weaknesses, their goals and ambitions.

I also continued to learn about myself and my abilities. I practiced my skills and talents that I inherited from my parents or brought from my previous life. I trained my body and mind, improving my strength and speed, my intelligence and wisdom, my magic and swordsmanship. I also experimented with new skills and talents that I developed or discovered in this life. I tried different types of magic and weapons, finding out what suited me best. I also tried different types of hobbies and interests, finding out what I liked most.

I had a lot of fun and excitement in this life.

But I also had a lot of loneliness and boredom in this life.

I realized that I had no friends in this life.

Sure, I had my parents, who were wonderful and amazing. But they were not enough for me. They were too busy with their duties as king and queen. They had to deal with many issues and problems that affected their kingdom and their people. They had to attend many meetings and events that required their presence and attention. They had to travel to many places and meet many people that needed their help or cooperation.

They could not always be with me or play with me.

They could not always understand me or relate to me.

They could not always satisfy me or challenge me.

They were my parents, but they were not my peers.

I needed someone who was like me.

Someone who was young and curious.

Someone who was smart and talented.

Someone who was adventurous and brave.

Someone who was fun and interesting.

Someone who was loyal and trustworthy.

Someone who was a friend.

But where could I find such a person?

I looked around the palace and the city, but I saw no one who matched my criteria.

The palace staff were too old or too busy for me. They treated me with respect and courtesy, but they also kept a distance from me. They were afraid of offending me or upsetting me. They were afraid of losing their jobs or their lives.

The nobles were too arrogant or too greedy for me. They treated me with flattery and praise, but they also had ulterior motives for me. They wanted to use me or manipulate me. They wanted to gain favor or influence from me.

The commoners were too ignorant or too poor for me. They treated me with awe and admiration, but they also had no connection with me. They knew nothing about me or my world. They had nothing to offer me or teach me.

The children were too immature or too boring for me. They treated me with curiosity and envy, but they also had no interest in me. They played games that were too simple or too childish for me. They talked about things that were too trivial or too mundane for me.

I felt like an outsider in this world.

I felt like a stranger in this kingdom.

I felt like a loner in this life.

I wished I had a friend in this life.

And then I met her.

She was the first person who caught my eye in this life.

She was the first person who spoke to me in this life.

She was the first person who became my friend in this life.

Her name was Luna.
