Chapter 41

The Fiend

After exploring the first floor of the ruins and becoming completely disappointed I came to the ground floor.

First I checked the entrance to see if any goblin returned. But the area was clear.

Then I checked the big room below the stairs. It was as big as the main hall and had many stone slabs and counters, like a place to showcase something.

Maybe this was a gallery or something.

Here after exploring, I found piles of bones, goblin excretions and even some rotting flesh.

There were also fruits and weapons like knives and bows lying here. This room was probably being used as storage by the goblins.

But why is no one here? Or is it that all the goblins have been killed. No. but there must be some leader type goblin here right?

Otherwise, why would those goblins stand to guard this place and on whose order.

For now, I collected the weapons. There were 8 knives, 5 bows, many arrows, 3 spears. Sadly they had no swords or potions here.

But they did have some money. There were two torn leather bags lying there and they had some rotten food, clothes and some money.

Throwing away the food and ruined clothes, I stored the bags and the money.

I will count it later. There was nothing more here, except for putrid smell of goblins.

I then moved to the main hall and went to the left hallway. Rooms similar to first floor were built here too. But this time there were a few goblins in the first one.

I was taken by surprise but luckily the goblins were not facing the door so they did not notice me. I quickly hid myself.

There were 3 of them and they seemed to be eating something there.

I quickly went past the first room and scanned the rest of the rooms. Thankfully the second room was empty.

The second room had goblin excrements again, bones, rotting flesh and fruits strewn here and there. There were also straw shaped round beds that were probably made by goblins for resting.

Finding nothing of worth, I moved to the third room. It was also empty and had the similar things. The last two rooms were also similar.

I then came back near the first room, and hiding myself near a column, I threw a stone in the corridor.

One goblin came out to check the noise and after it got away from the sight of the goblins in the room, its throat got slit open from behind and its body vanished.

Of course, It was me cutting it and putting it in my item box.

Repeating the same, I killed all three of the goblins safely and scanned the room. There was nothing here as well. Now I am thinking that this whole thing was a huge waste of time.

Onto the right hallway, I scanned the first room here too, but although empty I found some leather bags with their content scattered here and there.

But then I started hearing some sounds. I quickly stored the bags and the content without checking them and slowly walked near the gate to check the hallway.

There were loud grunting sounds coming from the last room in the hallway. Cautiously, I moved towards it. The second room was clear and had nothing.

The third room had two goblins but they were in strange state.

That was the first time I had seen such thing. Two goblins were biting each other off and were in complete frenzy. The sight was disgusting and horrifying.

But the grunting noise still continued was not coming from them.

I just quietly finished the goblins off in one single thrust to throat.

Since they were in such a state they did not pay any attention to me and were holding each other with their claws. So a single thrust passed through both their necks.

After collecting their ears too. I moved on the 4th room.

I was shocked and horrified by the sight inside again. It seemed as if hell had went loose here. The whole room colored red with blood.

There was red blood on floor, on walls, everywhere. But there was no goblin here. Although the grunting noise was still going and was probably coming from the last room.

But for now I went inside the 4th room and what I saw, almost gave me a heart attack. I barely managed to hold my scream.

There was a limbless half eaten body of a man with his organs and one eye hanging from his body. Her other half was still intact.

The site was so horrifying that I just lost my bearings. I started sweating and trembling and seemed to have gone in some sort of panic attack.

I couldn't breathe and exit the room and ran to the 3rd room to hide myself and calm myself down.

I tried to breathe deep but I couldn't get myself to complete my breath. It appeared that something was exerting pressure from inside and I could not get the air to go inside my lungs.

I was completely panicked. I never thought something could affect me like this.

After some time I was able to breathe again and calm myself down. But the trembling continued. I drank some water and wait. Then after 10 minutes or so my trembling stopped.

I think I need to finish the fiend responsible for doing such a thing. And I know where he is.

The grunting has stopped but something is still there in the last room, otherwise I would have heard him coming through the hallway.

I slowly cautiously moved towards the last room. I peeked inside from the side and there was a monster inside.

It was a head taller than goblin and about 4 and a half feet tall. It was eating something and there were 2 more bodies lying in that room.

Apart from that, there were also a lot of bones and torn bags and other things scattered all around.

There were also 5 small goblins feeding on the open stomach of one of the dead bodies. Again a site of hell was in front of me.

I am quite enraged now and my anger has overcome my fear and my trembling has stopped.

I have scanned the whole place and I am sure this is the only fiend left so I am ok with going head on here. First lets scan this fiend.

It's a hob goblin and a level 20 at that. So this is the boss here and fiend responsible for all this.

Although I said that I would be going guns blazing at him, I still want to make a preemptive strike.

So I took out a bow and arrow and hid on the side of the wall.

I peaked inside while aiming with my bow. The fiend was sitting on the floor munching something I don't want to identify.

I stretched the bowstring as hard as I could and aimed at its back and fired it.

The arrow was fired and it lunged deep in its body.

The hobgob made a huge noise and immediately got up and looked for enemy.

I immediately ran and hid in the 4th room. I stored my bow and took out my sword. The hobgoblin came to the hall, roaring in anger making shrieking noises that were so loud that my ears started ringing.

I have to silence it immediately otherwise, it was possible that monsters may start coming here.

The hobgoblin ran through the hallway and crossed the 4th room. I ran behind him with my conceal on.

I then did a single horizontal slash to its throat. The sword got lunged in its throat midway.

Actually I made it so by stopping midway. I actually wanted to make him suffer before its death.

The fiend turned around with shock in its eyes and fell down.

It just kept looking at me and whistling sounds kept coming from his throat.

He wanted to shout, but because the air was leaking due to the cut, only low whistle like sounds came out.

I took out a knife and stabbed its limbs. It started to move around its limbs frantically in pain.

But after a few stabs it died. My anger reduced a little. Now came the little goblins.

Those too needed to be disposed off. First I collected the hob goblins body in my item box.

Since I don't know if there is something worth in its body, I decided to collect it whole.

I then entered the last room and saw that the small goblins were huddled together in a corner. Seems like the scream of their leader had scared them.

I just fired arrows at them from the distance and finished them off. It had to be done and I was not sorry. Such is the world here.

Collecting my arrows and ears of the goblins, I decided to drink some water and went to the 3rd room to calm my nerves.
