A tragic news arrived

“I pray to Goddess Josephina, Rise O Earth and pierce through my enemies- Rock Bullet!”

My body became a little warm and then a conical drill of rock about 10 centimeter was formed from in front of me.

It then started spinning and with a whistle like sound launched towards the tree in front of me.

The recoil was there but not big enough to make me fall.

“Yeah, Baby! this is magic”

I was too excited and shouted in joy.

The stone bullet lunged itself into the tree and then after making deep hole in it, the stone bullet itself vanished.

I stood there awe stuck. I did not expect to be able to use magic so soon.

But I was successful. Now I too am a mage too, although a modern theory based one.

I want to become a true mage and want to be able to fire such spell on my own without the wand using ancient technique.

I went towards the tree to inspect the impact. The hole was about 6 cm deep and 3 cm wide.

The bullet has disappeared. It seems the mana which is converted into rock or earth element and then launched is once again changes into its natural forma and dissipates in air.

Once the constraints applied by magic circle end the mana goes back in its natural form.

So basically magic circles apply some laws to the mana temporarily. And the mana is converted into forms according to that.

This is similar to mass and energy conversion in a nuclear reaction.

The difference here is that the amount of mass produced from mana is not small.

Maybe the conversion equation of mana and mass or other element or waves is not the same as Einstein’s equation.

There might exist some genius scientist here too who might have already deduced the conversion equation.

Goddess sama had told me to try to advance the worlds’ technology, so finding such genius would be very useful for that.

But right now I have to focus on my current situation. She had told me not to worry about it and my destiny guide me, so I will do whatever I can for now.

Now lets check the range of this magic. From my scan I was able to see that I only consumed 2 MP for firing one rock bullet. My internal mana or ether to be exact and just for activation.

That is very reasonable and I can fire without any care because my recovery rate is faster than its cooldown.

After taking some distance from the tree, about 100 meters, I again fired the rock bullet.

This time the bullet did hit the tree but it dropped down way below I had aimed at.

The drop for 100 meters was about 50 cm. So I would have to tweak my aim accordingly in the future.

Its like playing shooting game with sniper, where the bullet drops with distance.

Also the attack power was also a little less as the hole in the tree was less deep.

After experimenting I decided to return to the city.

While I was returning I saw that there was quite a chaos happening at the gate.

I don’t know what happened so I rushed to the gate. When I reached there I saw that there were many carts entering the city and the carts had wounded and injured soldiers.

They were the soldiers of the 3rd platoon that had went for the monster subjugation.

My heart immediately went tense and started beating loudly.

After I went near them, I saw that the carts went towards the clinics and Syndell.

I did not see Philia san and others anywhere.

I rushed to the gate and asked the guard if he saw Philia san or the Captain Barnabus entering.

He replied that he does not know about Philia san but according to him Barnabus san was gravely injured and was rushed towards Helium Sensei’s clinic.

I became nervous and decided to go to Helium sensei’s clinic immediately.

Reaching the clinic, I saw a large number of injured soldiers were already lined up waiting for treatment.

I asked a nearby soldier who I recognized about the whereabouts of Barnabus san.

He told that, he was seriously injured and is in operation room in the clinic.

I also asked him if he knew where Philia san and others were but he too did not know.

Since Barnabus san was under treatment, there was no way I could meet him now.

Also the military security was quite tight around the clinic.

I am panicking right now. I don’t know where Philia san and others are and Barnabus san is also in hospital.

Philia san, Greenwich sisters, Robert san and Maxis san…...

Who should I ask? For the time being I asked the soldier what happened at the monster subjugation.

They had surrounded the monsters and the forward team was annihilating the monsters slowly.

Still they somehow dealt with the attack with the help of magicians support but then something unexpected happened.

The support from magicians stopped coming and with no magic support the front attack team could not keep up with monster attacks.

The reason was something he heard afterwards and did not see with his own eyes.

According to his pears a group of vampires showed up at the flank of the army and destroyed their supply unit.

They then attacked the command post and kidnapped various people.

They showed up after dusk.

First they kidnapped the mage adventurers and mage knights in the front attack team, and after the stampede turned back and attacked the 3rd platoon army, they took advantage of that and flew to the back of third platoon and attacked the rear of the platoon.

Since the army was fighting monsters like goblins orcs and cobolds, they were mostly focused on ground and did not notice the vampiers that flew to their rear.

The vampires then attacked the rear and kidnapped the mages in the army too.

According to what he heard, most of the mages kidnapped were girls from the 3rd platoon.

After I heard that, my face became pale and my body started to tremble in panic. All that came to my mind were negative thoughts, that maybe Philia san and others were kidnapped.

I stood there complete aghast.

I wanted to run and shout but the words did not come out.

Why Why Why, just why, why the hell did vampires kidnap them.

Why did this happen. Even though I finally found some people who I could connect to, who cared for me, why to them ….such a thing…...

I don’t know how much time had passed since I was standing there.

When I came to, it was already 6 pm as the tower bell rang.

I had to do something and fast. I couldn’t just sit here.

I know that I am not strong and how would I even face an enemy that could beat 500 strong soldiers of 3rd platoon and even injure Barnabus san. But I can’t sit here.

I am a novice in swordsmanship when compared to Barnabus san and in magic as compared to Sherry san.

And to face an opponent that defeated people like them is definitely almost impossible.

But if I do nothing, I will not be able to live at all. I would rather die than doing that.

I need to get myself together and form a plan. First I need to know where they were taken.

I need to gather as much information about this as possible.

I decided to talk to all the soldiers about what they could tell.

Some were reluctant to talk about it as the authorities had not given them permission to do so as of yet but others told everything that I asked.

I still could not find anyone from my known associates in the army.

Not even Robert san or Maxis san.

Seems like Barnabus san was out of danger now but still had not regained consciousness.

But I would not be allowed to meet him, as the security is tight.

Moreover the lord would be meeting him to get the report and a gag order was passed on spreading the information about the mission in order to prevent people from panicking.

I then went to the adventurer’s guild to see if I could collect some information there.

But there too strict gag order had been already passed. The lord seems quite capable here as the action was taken quite quickly.

Even Tina san refused to tell me anything. Maybe an advance messenger might have already reached here in morning or afternoon.

All I could gather until now was that out of 500 soldiers of this town only 100 had survived and most of the rear unit that is supply, intelligence and magic support were missing including all my acquaintances.

I got the general direction of where the fight took place but what happened after the defeat was quite unclear.

Its not like all surviving soldiers had returned to Detroit town.

Some who were very seriously injured to even move were being treated in the nearby villages on the way.

Only those who could not be treated there were rushed here first.

According to most of the soldiers 30 % of the stampede was still remaining after the vampires showed up and defeated their rear units

But after the soldiers retreated the stamped did not pursue them.

The stamped dispersed and went back to the Ghalia forest.

But the whereabouts of vampires and the kidnapped people was not known.

All I can do is to go to the site and see what I can find there. But first I need to get my weapons from Nyxia san’s shop.

The attack happened the dusk of day before yesterday and it took one day to bring the injured back.

So they are already in captive for 2 days now. Time is of the essence. I cannot think straight anymore. All I want to do is rush there and find them.

First I have to confirm if Philia san and others are missing or not.

What I need to do is calm down and prepare. Keep yourself calm and plan.

The things I need are my weapons and tools, food, transportation and information about vampires and their activities in this area.

Weapons, I already have and food I will prepare tonight in the orphanage.

Then as for tools, I will find if there is something that could help in detecting vampires and if they had any weakness.

Like some powerful light magic tool or something.

Vampires can fly and suck blood. So I would need to consider that too.
