Magic wand and attack magic

Looking into various kinds of magic wands of earth attribute, I selected a few of them to finalize from.

The first thing to decide was price. Since even the cheapest of the wand with only a weak single spell type cost 15 gold coins I had to decide carefully.

The reason was that even a single attack magic spell required multiple mana circles to be drawn in complex formation.

This was due to fact that there were multiple processes involved in attack magic, like shape of magic, size, speed and direction.

This was not the case in a simple communication type magic device like one I had.

That simply activated the specific type of magic within range of 3 meters and anyone within that range could be target of that magic.

Moreover, in that device half of the work like selecting the target was to be done by user and there was no need to decide speed, shape or activation time etc.

All was left to the proficiency of the user themselves.

Whereas in case of wand, it was required to have potent magic, short magic spell and activation time.

It was also necessary to designate the direction in which the spell will fire, so that the mage could fight without any fear of friendly fire.

Anyways I chose a wand with a single rock bullet type spell, ofcourse the best out of all the ones of same kind using my scan.

The spear type did more damage but was slow and the javelin one had longer range but was slow and had a parabola type trajectory that could attract attention.

The wand was made of a rugged wood and was brown in color.

It was about 30 centimeters in length and the handle was made of leather. Its cost was 20 gold coins.

The mana stone was fitted inside the handle at the bottom end of the wand and was hidden with the handle.

It was easy to replace and the clerk taught me how to do it.

After that I scanned the wand.

The material of wand seemed to be treant wood.

SAT that is spell activation time is one second. That means after reciting the spell, it will take 1 second to fire.

And there is also a 10 second cool down after firing one spell.

The efficiency is 70%, that means that on every spell fired some extra mana from the mana stone will be wasted and only 70% of the mana absorbed will be used in the spell activation.

There is also an error value of 5%. This error might be in speed, direction, power or activation time of the spell.

And the maximum magic attack power (ATP) possible right now has a magnitude of 40. Does that mean one rock bullet can scrape off 40 HP if fired at an enemy?.

But the attack might also depend on where the bullet hits. If it hits in the throat, even an enemy with more HP might die in just one bullet.

So this is just for rough estimation I believe.

Also the maximum value of ATP is 50 which is reduced to 40 right now, maybe because it need very high level mana stone.

The range is 100 meters, which is sufficient for me.

I also scanned the mana stone below the handle, and it turned out to be a D rank Orc mana stone with 60 % earth mana.

So the mana useable is only 60% and out of that too some will go to waste as efficiency of usage is only 70%.

According to the clerk lady, the wand can fire 30-35 shots before needing a change of mana stone.

She also told that the fire power decreases as the wand gets old, as the magic circles start to get degraded and advised me to change the wand after 10 to 15 years.

I did not bargain but I was able to get 1 spare Orc mana stone to resupply for free.

The need to change stone after every 30-35 shot is quite heavy on pocket. That’s where the modern magic fails.

After buying the magic wand, I asked the head lady clerk if there was a magic tool or a wand that could use the internal mana of a person.

She then looked at me weirdly and replied that those experimental products were not kept in a high level shop like theirs.

Seems like there was not much liking for magic tools that use internal mana of a person.

According to her the tools that absorb internal mana forcefully were dangerous and could cause rupture of mana veins of the body.

But I am sure if a person masters the ancient technique of releasing internal mana, he can use those magic tools perfectly.

Seems like I would need to go to a laboratory to find those tools as they were considered as experiments.

I then asked her if there was a wand that used no attribute, but she again looked at me like I was an idiot saying that there was no attack possible with that.

Seems like I have lowered my image in front of her quite a bit.

But I did not give up and further asked if it was not possible to fire something like a disrupting spell that could hinder with the magic of the enemy.

The clerk than seemed to be in loss of words and started thinking for some time.

She told me that she had herd stories of some people who are skilled in ancient magic technique being able to null all magic attack but no such wand has been made.

This seems to be another disadvantage of the modern magic

And also, in order to do high level magic, the modern technique fails as it is almost impossible to develop a tool that can handle large amount of mana.

The thing is most of the people donot even reach that level before death so the whole advantage goes away, but I am sure that since I am an otherworld person sent by goddess, I will be able to achieve that level.

I also asked her if there was a magic tool that could detect monsters.

She told that those were sold at their magic tool shop. Apart from that I was also interested in magic protective clothing and accessories.

But the ones in my budget were attribute specific and could only give slight protection.

After asking some more questions, I finally left the shop.

The store clerk offered me to test the wand after buying in their backyard but I refused.

Ofcouse since I have not yet tested if I am capable of firing the magic or not, I don’t want to be seen as a stupid person who bought an expensive wand even though I could not use it, so I just left the store without testing the wand.

Now that I think about it I was able to use telepathy magic tool even before I practiced mana manipulation.

Ofcourse that tool is quite light and user friendly.

Moreover that magic is very low level magic according to Zephy san but still my talent was evident from that only.

The next thing is to test the wand. I am really excited to use attack magic for the first time.

I decided to go to the grasslands where I went, during my first guild quest, since it is much safer there.

I reached the grassland and found an isolated area. There I stood about 30 meters away from a tree.

The chant for this wand is written on a slip given to me by the clerk.

This spell is also dedicated to Goddess Josephina it seems. The goddess Josephina might be the one of those statues in the Syndell main hall.

She might be the goddess that governs magic in this world.

The chant is in ancient Ellisium language and is quite short and easy.

The chant needs to be spoken aloud and with proper pronunciation.

The ancient Ellisium language is also used to carve magic circles and make grimores.

I don’t know how it helps in activating magic though.

The technique this time is a little difficult from that of telepathy magic tool.

First I have to do mana manipulation and move the mana from my navel to the throat and hand holding the wand, then speak the chant.

The chant imbued in my internal mana causes the magic circles on activate.

After the circle activate, it uses the mana of the stone to fire the magic.

This is due to the fact that attack magic circles are quite complex and require a little more internal mana to activate.

Simple magic tools like telepathy tool can activate without moving much internal mana and just by chant.

The chant in that case works on the minuscule mana already present in every part of body.

After taking a firing pose I manipulated my internal mana and spread it around my body to reach throat and hand and spoke the spell.
