The much needed help

Charlotte san told me about all the hideouts she knew near the area where the attack took place.

She even gave me a detailed map with information about them written on it.

She also told me that the ceremony was to take place on the great lunar day.

Speaking of moons, this planet seems to have 2 moons, one shines purple and other shines yellow.

The difference in color is due to the difference in their atmosphere and composition of the surface there.

Anyway, there comes a day once in 100 years when both moon align with each other and shine very brightly.

On that day the ceremony will take place and that day is just 10 days from today.

People here call it the great lunar day and is a day of great celebration since it comes once in 100 years.

On such a day or rather on that night, the vampire who drinks blood of 1000 virgin girls that have high mana, might evolve into a true vampire.

That is what his uncle believes as he read it in an ancient text.

Charlotte came to know of this from some of her family’s followers who survived and had been keeping an eye on her uncle’s doings.

The other thing she told me was information about the subordinates working under her uncle.

But I am sure, now he was even more powerful and has many more followers.

She did tell me that he had 3 followers from very powerful clan of vampires that had various rare skills.

One of them was probably responsible for causing monster stampede.

The last thing I wanted to know about the weakness of the vampires.

Charlotte was quite reluctant to tell me that but she ultimately told me that mid tier and upper tier light magic work well against normal vampires.

She also told me that vampires strength reduce to half in strong light and prolong exposure can kill them. Though they work perfectly fine in shaded areas and moonlight.

Also about the ritual, it is said that it’s dangerous for the vampire because, the vampire doing the ritual needs to be in moon light while doing it.

Moonlight generally does not effect vampire but that is not true for the great lunar day moonlight. On that day the light is very strong and is especially harmful for vampires.

Now I know why there is no light magic tool in Charlotte’s house. She even keeps her store so dimly lit.

Maybe the spooky grandma disguise might be so that people think of her as a nutcase grandma and don’t doubt her as being a vampire.

Next I also asked her about the attacks the vampire could do. She then told me that they could fly, regenerate, use magic attacks.

They have high strength and magic power too.

Although they have low physical defense but they could regenerate so it was better not to fight a prolonged fight with them and finish them off by cutting of their head.

Apparently that seals the deal.

But the problem is that some rare races have special skills.

Most have magic eyes of charming, that charm people and makes them unable to continue fighting.

The other thing I have to be careful about was that to not get bitten.

Some of them have very potent poison in their bite, which is very difficult to cure and others can turn you into their kin, so once bitten you will turn into their kin, although only her uncle seems to have that skill. It seems a skill for royal family only.

After listening to all the information, I asked her if she had something useful for me, like a magic tool or a potion that could help me.

Ofcourse I told her that I would pay her double, which would also help her in getting away.

But she told me that she had enough money and normal price would be fine.

She also said that she had her ways of getting away so there was no need to worry about that.

When I asked her further, she told me that the true vampires could turn into a bat and she was not even effected by sunlight too. So apparently that no light thing was just her preference lol.

So she could get away easily. What the hell is that. Isn’t true vampire just awesome.

It seems that she was planning to turn into a bat before, when I attacked her with rock bullet and stopped it.

She seemed to be regretting for telling me too much now.

Although she was very uncooperative initially but now after telling her story, she seemed to be telling everything with just a little push.

She sold me some wound heal potion, HP recovery potion, stamina recovery potion.

She also gave her extra magic item which blocked charm eyes to some extent. It was a locket shaped magic item.

Since the magic item was C grade item just like my wand, it was expensive. I gave her 18 gold coins for all that.

Now all I have is 17 gold coins left and I still have to buy food, transportation and light magic attack tool.

Seems like I would have to sell my magic stones too.

She charged me 5 silver per wound heal potion and HP recovery potion.

The stamina recovery potion was 2 silver each. So I got 10 potions of wound heal, 10 HP recovery and 20 stamina potions.

I also bought a few of special vampire venom antidote for 1 gold 40 silver (10 silver each).

The antidote is only for poison of a common vampire bite and does not cure subordination curse of royal family, if his uncle bites me.

Also there is not much use of MP recovery potions in this world as this world either uses external mana or mana from magic stones.

But I think that is only true for someone like me who has a mana of over 500.

It might be useful for nobles’ kids who are low level and still practice magic since the cost of using 3 MP for activating a rock bullet with modern technique is also quite high for someone who is level 7 or 8 and MP is around 25 only.

Moreover the consumption might be high if he is not that proficient in mana manipulation.

Anyway I spent approx. 3 gold on potions like that and the locket magic tool was 15 gold. I think she gave me quite a discount because I don’t think a C rank magic tool is that cheap.

I did not need to test the magic tool since I scanned it and I knew it was perfectly fine and did what she said. My trust in her has increased.

We had a rough start at the beginning but she is not a bad person at all. Seems like you really should not have prejudice against races.

There are good and bad in all except monsters. I don’t believe there would ever be a good goblin in this world.

But good and bad is our point of view. In eyes of nature and god, everything is just a cycle and process.

Anyways, after I finished talking to Charlotte san, I bowed to her deeply to thank her and asked her to forgive me for being so rough with her in the beginning and treating her like a bad person.

“ Onee san, I am truly grateful for your help and please forgive my behavior today….

I am not a violent person generally I promise…

It’s just that suddenly I got the grave news and I was under lot of stress and did things with my impulse…..

I promise you if we ever meet again, I would repay your gratitude and do anything you ask of me.”

“Well, I am fine now so its ok, but you scared me today. I know how it is to lose your dear ones, so I can imagine what you are going through…..

And stop with the Onee san already. I am Charlotte. And regarding your offer, since I would be going far away, I don’t think we would meet again…..

But if you still insist how about replenishing something I lost”

“Again sorry for scaring you also, Something you lost as in?”

“…Blood”

What?! She wants my blood. I immediately became vigilant, but she did not attack me and started to sulk when I became vigilant against her.

Seems like she only wants a little of my blood.

“But Why my blood?”

“I hope you won’t lose yourself and suck me dry. What would I do if that happens? It’s not like I care about giving some of my blood to you.”

“ That’s….I can’t fully deny it….but ….how about you just put some of it in a jar and give me….

Although it would lose most of the pleasure in drinking like that, I would manage with that?”

“Then how about this. Today I will give you some blood of mine, and if I survive and we meet again I would let you bite me but of course not to death.”

“Well that would be a very rare thing to happen, but is that OK? You would let me do that?”

Yeah some things are worth dying for…LOL

“Yes that is my promise.”

I then cut my finger and collected my blood in a small vial, about 100 ml and gave it to her.

She then looked at that excitedly and smelled the blood. Her eyes started to glow red and started to become crazy.

But she hurriedly closed the vial and stopped. I too closed my wound with a potion.

She calmed herself down by breathing deeply while looking embarrassed.

After that I said good bye to her while thanking her again. It was already 10 pm when I reached the orphanage.

The sisters at the orphanage and Lily were quite worried that I did not return.

They even went to the guild to ask about me. After asking the gatekeeper that I did not go out after lunch, they were sure that I was in town so they decided to wait.

I was sorry to them for causing trouble. I told them I needed to go on a journey with a friend that would take 20 days.

They seemed surprised by my sudden declaration but quietly nodded.

I felt bad for doing something like this especially when Lily was suffering from the news of loss of her parents, but I need to go and save Philia san and others too.

I spent some time pacifying Lily and pampering her with head pats.

I want to start today but I don’t have all the things I need. So I will have to wait till tomorrow.

I hope Philia san and others are doing OK.

Hello everyone. It’s been a while. I hope you all are liking the story so far. I will be posting at a slower rate now, maybe one chapter a day.

By the way this was Arc 1 “The beginning” and next Arc will start from chapter 50 tomorrow.
