Chapter 6:

Royality Vs Poverty

Tales from the Forbidden Kingdom

Saru and Yuki found themselves seated in the classroom, surrounded by a palpable sense of anticipation. Since the previous night, Saru had been visibly agitated, reaching his breaking point. "I can't believe that kid still hasn't shown up. He promised to give me that map!" Restless, Saru and Yuki sat side by side, enclosed within the familiar walls of their classroom. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation, but Saru's patience had worn thin after the events of the previous night. Frustrated, he muttered in exasperation, "Where in the world is that troublesome kid? He owes me that invaluable map." Just as Saru prepared to confront the absent child, astonishment swept over him, forcing him back into his seat. Walking into the classroom was not only the kid but also his father—the King from the kingdom of death. The King unsheathed his sword, pointing it menacingly at Saru. Though shaken, Saru rose to his feet once more, determination etched on his face. "Listen here. I'm not scared of you. You made Yuki cry, and for that, I won't hesitate to face you," Saru declared, his voice unwavering. "No one has the right to make her cry, ever." The King let out a chilling laugh, a wicked smile playing on his lips. With a swift motion, he conjured an icy ball, hurling it towards Saru with deadly accuracy. The frozen sphere struck Saru's arm, encasing it in a prison of ice. Saru winced in pain, but his resolve remained unyielding. "People like you, who despise those who speak out, are the ones I detest the most," Saru retorted, defiance coloring every word. "But mark my words, this won't stop our revolution." As the King advanced, preparing to strike Saru's vulnerable chest, a sudden interruption filled the room. Yuki's uncle, known as the Mad Wolf, emerged in front of Saru, positioning himself as a shield against the King's sword. His eyes blazed with ferocity, ready to protect his niece and her courageous friend. The classroom held its breath, the tension reaching its peak. The Mad Wolf drew his sword, the steel gleaming with determination. With a fluid motion, he swung his weapon, melting the ice that encased Saru's arm, freeing him from his icy prison. The King, caught off guard, lost his footing and fell to the floor. "Now listen, Saru," the Mad Wolf said, his voice resolute. "We need to attack him at the same time. Our strength lies in unity." Saru nodded, his gaze locked with the Mad Wolf's. Closing their eyes for a brief moment, they synchronized their movements, as if connected by an unbreakable bond. With a powerful swing, their swords sliced through the air, aiming for the King with unwavering resolve. The combined force of their attack left no room for doubt. In that pivotal moment, the clash between justice and tyranny reverberated through the classroom. But just as the confrontation seemed to reach its climax, the King, sensing defeat, swiftly grabbed a smoke bomb from his pocket. He ignited it and threw it at the floor, disappearing into thin air, leaving only a paper on Saru's desk. Saru picked up the paper, his heart pounding with anticipation. "This is it, the map we've been searching for," he exclaimed, a glimmer of triumph in his eyes. "Now, we can finally take back what is rightfully ours." With newfound determination fueled by the discovery of the map, Saru, Yuki, and the Mad Wolf embarked on a journey that would lead them towards the liberation they sought. Together, they would navigate the perils ahead, ready to reclaim their destiny and fight for a future where justice prevailed. Days had passed since the King caused mayhem at the school. Yuki would often sit by her sister's grave, shedding tears until she fell asleep each day or night. She had resorted to self-harm as a coping mechanism. Saru watched his best friend slowly lose herself before his eyes. He, too, stood before a grave, fighting back the overwhelming emotions. "Damn, every time I come here, it never gets easier." Saru, too, had lost his sister, but he had never shared that with Yuki. He stood over the grave of his fallen sister and mumbled an old-time prayer. "Ah, my dear sister, I hope to see you later rather than sooner. It was my own stupidity that got you killed. If only I had known you were sick, I could have saved you." Unbeknownst to anyone, Saru possessed excellent healing abilities. However, when his sister fell ill, he had tried to treat her, inadvertently worsening her condition. The worst part was that his parents had blamed him and kicked him out, so Saru never saw her body or witnessed her passing. According to those close to her, she had kept asking for him, crying and pleading. Saru wiped his tears as he saw Yuki finish her time by her sister's grave. He stood up, covering his face with a mask to conceal his emotions. Yuki walked over and leaned in, her voice filled with warmth. "Are you ready to go?" Saru grabbed her hand and held it tight. "Yes, let's go and leave this place behind. It always gives me goosebumps." Yuki laughed softly before offering a reassuring smile. "To a brighter future," she said. Saru joined her laughter and pulled her into a gentle embrace. "To a brighter future for all of us."
