Chapter 24:
AGONY! The Omnipotent Deity's Dastardly Quest
Everyone quickly charged into the catacombs.
"I think I can find her," Kumi smirked as she turned into lightning and began zapping around.
"Oi! Wait for the rest of us will you!" Zeno called out.
Deep within the catacombs, a shadowy figure sat on a stone slab in a room filled with bones.
"It seems there will be a bountiful harvest today. Time to redecorate a bit," he smiled as he grabbed his pike.
That bastard probably thought he was still protected by the barrier. Well, I'll give him a surprise.
Kumi quickly made her way to Nika.
"Whatcha hangin for girl?" Kumi asked.
"MMPH!? (MIKU!?)" Nika tearfully shouted.
Kumi ripped the sack off Nika's head and freed her from the cross.
"MIKU! SOMETHING'S WRONG! SOMETHING HAPPENED TO KASUMI! SHE TRIED TO KILL ME! WAAAH!" Nika wailed as she hugged Kumi.
Kumi wanted to let loose an edgy quip, but was so shocked by Nika's sadness, she didn't know what to say or do.
"Comforting is not my game. I don't know what to say. I guess, I'll just be her tear pillow. Damn, something must be setting me off. My eyes are getting watery too," Kumi thought as tears began to pour out of her eyes.
...
As the others tried to find Kumi and Nika, they ran into Kasumi.
"Well hello ugly," Zeno groaned.
Kasumi immediately launched an attack, only to be blocked by Ayaka.
"Mmph ngh mmph!" Ayaka declared.
She managed to deflect the attack, however, the recoil didn't seem to effect Kasumi. Suddenly, everyone began clutching their heads as Kasumi unleashed a mental attack with her lightning.
Honoka and Tetsuka immediately went into dragon mode, negating the attack, however, Zeno and Ayaka were still having trouble.
Tetsuka immidiately turned into metal, causing all the electricity to come towards her.
"Sacrificing yourself?" Kasumi sneered as she cancelled her mental attack in order to give Tetsuka a massive shock.
Tetsuka fell to the ground unconscious as Zeno and Ayaka came to their senses.
"TETSUKA!" Zeno yelled as he attempted to use his wind to move her.
Honoka scooped up Tetsuka and ordered everyone to fall back.
"We must move to more favorable ground," Honoka said as they ran towards the exit.
As they ran through a corridor, they suddenly found themselves in a large underground quarry.
"What the hell!? How'd we end up here!? Zeno shouted.
*Clonk*
Everyone turned to see a bearded skeleton holding a pike.
"Welcome to your new tomb. I am Pyke the banker of souls," the skeleton stated.
Honoka immediately shot a fireball at Pyke, only for it to fase through him.
"And you are quite powerful for a mortal. It must be infuriating to be faced with the reality that you can't even touch me," Pyke sneered as he summoned greenish red fire as well as an army of skeletons.
"These are the bones of mortals so you can probably hit them. However, my hell pyre flames course through them. Should they touch you, even a maiden of fire like you will be burnt."
...
Kasumi shrugged and headed back to where Nika was.
"Pyke can take care of them. I only care about dealing with MY problems," she grumbled.
As she returned, she saw Nika and Kumi, still crying it out. Kumi immediately regained her composure upon seeing Kasumi.
"Lol! You look like a freak! How much were you crying when they shave all her hair off Kas?" Kumi sneered.
"I did not cry, they cried when I told them to finish up quickly," Kasumi growled as she stroked her head.
"Bet you SO cried. "Wahh! My hair! How could you turn me into a hideous freak!? I'll kill you! I'll kill you! NO NOT THE TATTOOS NOT MY PRETTY FACE KYAAAH!"" Kumi mockingly said.
Kasumi angrily charged at Kumi.
"Lightning too? Guess we really are trippy trips," Kumi smirked as she turned into lightning.
"I'm far more powerful and superior to you two. Never group me with you!" Kasumi growled.
"Lol! I'm totes gonna shave all my head and get matching tattoos just to piss you off! You in too Nika?"
"Wha!? HUH!? THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING MIKU!? LIKE HELL I'D LET YOU DO SOMETHING SO DUMB!" Nika shouted returning to her senses.
"Done cryin like a bitch sis?"
"Ugh, whatever. Let's restrain Kasumi. Maybe Jouzu can fix her," Nika grumbled as she imagined she was drawing a net.
A net appeared and fell on Kasumi.
"*TCH* This net has electrical properties, so you have electrical powers too. Damn you! Why can't I have anything to myself?" Kasumi scowled as she turned into blue electricity.
"She's way too strong for you two to handle. I'll give you a lift out," I smirked as I appeared before them.
"Muramasa Jouzu? *TCH*" Kasumi growled as her master instantly warped her away.
I in turn warped Kumi and Nika to safety before warping to where my other party members were and destroyed Pyke's army with my dark flames.
"Well well, it seems you broke through quite quickly. I'm afraid this means I must leave," Pyke stated.
"Yeah, I'll even give you an express trip. Fuck you!" I smirked as I flipped him off and sent him flying into space.
I then engulfed him in my dark flames, but as expected, Averice warped him away before I could destroy him.
I then checked my party's status and healed them of the attack Kasumi had tried to hit them with.
"OW! Why does my head hurt so much!?" Zeno groaned.
"Because I had to destroy the electrical waves Kasumi stuck in your brain. Her signature move is using her electricity to manipulate minds. Though now you're all clear and free from being controlled by her," I stated.
"That freak could control me? Scary."
"Ayaka did well to block that attack, though if she were higher leveled she could have easily blocked the mind attack," I snickered.
"Are you insulting me?" Ayaka blushed.
"Yes, though I'm sure you enjoy it tsundere masochist.
"I'm mmph ngh mmph!" Ayaka retorted as she put her gaga ball back on.
I then warped everyone away to safety, restored the catacombs to their original state, and cast a secret protection spell on some people still roaming the catacombs as I observed Ryuujin's battle.
Ryuujin smirked as he stared down the raven. The two had been staring each other down the entire time. Well, I guess that feathered bastard wasn't aware I broke through the barrier and decided to focus on taking care of Ryuujin.
"My name is Edgar, and you shall be nevermore!" the raven sneered as the space around Ryuujin began to distort.
"Erasing powers? Well I guess they're more consumption powers considering you work for the fatass," Ryuujin growled as he dispelled the attack effortlessly with his gravity.
"How!? I attempted to banish you to an alternate dimension!" Edgar squawked in fear.
"Huh!? Banish a gravity user to an alternate dimension? I've barely even moved and this is all you got?"
"NEVERMORE!" Edgar screamed as he whipped out his pen sword and desperately charged at Ryuujin.
Ryuujin summoned his kanbo and effortlessly swatted him away. That one attack brought Edgar to the brink of death.
"So Ryuujin, that bird tough enough to go all out against?" I snickered telepathically to Ryuujin.
"Nah. I don't even need to go into dragon mode. But I'm gonna anyway!" Ryuujin snickered as purple scales began to form on his body.
"The hell are you going to do!?" Edgar screeched in horror as he struggled to maintain his footing.
"Wreck you! I thought you were a bit more skilled. Well here's what I would have done earlier if you were more skilled-"
"WAIT! I ADMIT IT I'M WEAK SO-"
"GRAVITY DRAGON'S ROAR!"
Edgar screamed as Ryuujin's roar crushed him to bits, killing him. I delivered the final blow to his soul with my dark flame to ensure he'd never return to Gula.
"Looks like all that grinding paid off, you're now level 49," I told Ryuujin.
"Hell yeah!" Ryuujin smiled as I warped back to the mansion with him.
...
"Seriously, I'm fine," Tetsuka grumbled as Honoka wrapped her in bandages.
"Tis more a reminder of your failure," Honoka smirked.
"Great, so I've gotta walk around looking like a mummy as thanks for sacrificing myself."
I watched my party mingle while simultaneously consulting Nika.
"Is there anyway you can save Kasumi?" Nika asked.
"She signed a pact with Averice of her own volition. The only way I could get her back is by taking out Averice which I don't feel like doing right now," I replied.
"Why!?"
"Because most of the party's too underleveled to deal with his minions."
"That... is a sound argument. Very well. I'll train in order to be strong enough to save Kasumi."
Well it's good Nika's finally got some resolve. Though I really want to get Tetsuka leveled up to 100 asap. Honoka will easily reach 100 soon, but Tetsuka would need two level 100 foes in order to get to 100 quickly. Unless of course, I have her do some sparring. If I get her to level 93, one level 100 foe would be all it would take. Plus Honoka would probably reach level 100 via the sparring.
Looks like there would be some more training. _! Hoh? Forget the training. Looks like my foes have decided to grace me with a level up opportunity for my party.
