Chapter 9:
Face of Eternity : Principality of Dreams
We took an elevator to the upper level above the basement. We could have taken it to the top floor where the mana beam was being tampered with, but that area had way too many enemies for us to take all at once. All we needed to do was let the bees do their job.
We entered a big room that the pirates had been using as a workshop for taking apart lead equipment. The bees hadn’t attacked here yet.
A bunch of those bad guys were walking around and working on stuff. Uncle ordered the wasps with us to engage active camouflaged to keep out of sight until we attacked.
We sneaky sneaked our way around the floor. Hiding behind boxes and walls so we wouldn’t be spotted by the pirates patrolling around.
Sneak 100!
Once our group was in a more advantageous position, it was decided that the best thing to do was to get the drop on them. Otherwise they might notice us make a bee-line for the exit.
“Young Mistress…” Uncle got my attention, “your stealth skills are required.”
He told me to use the skill I did to spy on the conversation from earlier and get an enemy count for the room.
Detaching one of my arm crystals, I requested Samael take it and slither around the room to give me a better look. He hissed approvingly.
Samael raced off and kept a low profile. Not a single pirate was aware of his presence.
Moving around as quiet as he could, I got a good survey of the room. Pirates were everywhere, but none of them had weapons, just tools to take apart boats.
By the time Samael returned, I counted 30 of them all around the room. That was a lot.
“Looks like we gotta’ fight through them.” Indena’s tattoos and eyes started to glow hot orange.
We could have waited for the other wasps patrolling around, but there’s no telling when they’d arrive here. We had plenty to work with as it was.
“To fight them, you’ll need to use magic attacks,” Mella reminded. “Nothing else will harm them.”
“Sounds good to me. Witch, you helping?
Mella nodded. “They have tampered with an element of nature. I cannot let them continue.”
She must not have liked the fact that they were using the mana beam for something nefarious. It went double for Uncle and me since this was dad’s stuff getting abused.
“Can’t believe we have to work together again.” Indena huffed. “The Shrimp, Yamin and Marek can stay here while we kick ass. Sounds good?”
I could fight too. I don’t know why she was excluding me from the battle.
“Let me go too.” I whispered.
“No. You don’t have any attacks that can hurt those pirates.” Indena claimed.
Um…did she forget I could use the mana cannon? That should hurt the pirates.
“Wait, I can use the mana cannon.” I argued.
“You are forbidden from using that unless it’s absolutely necessary.” Uncle disciplined. “We’ll need to train you in how to use it without shorting out.”
Dang it. I wanted to use my big death laser…
The others started to move into ambushing positions, same thing with the few wasps that were following us.
Uncle's energy blade silently spawned in place of his hand. He stung it forth and stabbed one of the pirates in the back.
At the same time, Indena brought to life her fire aura and snatched a pirate by the neck, using her flame to superheat him to death!
Mella came in next and used her magic to create a fox that swiftly struck at the other pirates.
The sneak attack worked perfectly! But now a few of the remaining pirates noticed them. They drew out their tools and ran in with a battle cry.
But they were no match for the wave of bees that suddenly appeared and washed them over with lasers and energy blades!
As a ghost pirate died, or died again, they would turn into a haze of mana and disappear.
-Enemies defeated! Awarding XP!-
-CONGRATULATIONS! Xp requirements met! You've Leveled Up!-
Yay! Level up! I didn’t even fight. I guess the party system shares XP all around.
Oh, did I mention my life is a little like a video game? Long story short, daddy wanted it that way so I would be encouraged to grow my strengths. As a gamer myself, I'm very happy about it.
“Excellent work everyone.” Uncle gave accolades to Indena and Mella.
“Yeah yeah.” Indena mumbled. “Don’t make a big deal about it.”
Something tells me she was more flattered then she let on about.
Since this area was clear, we didn’t have much more to worry about on this floor. Most of the other areas had been dealt with already by the wasps.
We passed by quite a few rooms on our way to the beam chamber. A lot of them were full of crates and supplies. I wondered if they had stuff in them.
“Uncle, can we do some looting?” I asked.
“Looting?” Uncle’s brow raised. “What do you mean by that?”
In video games, dungeons have lots of rooms you could go into and loot for items and supplies. I figured that this place wouldn’t be any different.
As I tried to get my point across, Indena took initiative and opened up one of the crates.
“This one’s got some junk in it.” She said.
I came over and looked in. She was totally wrong! There were at least fifty Pier Tokens inside!
“Like I said, it’s junk.”
I collected all the Pier Tokens into my virtual INVINTORY. Suddenly I had 56 of them! They quickly disappeared from the box. I still wonder what they're used for.
Yamin took a look in another crate and a beam of light shot out of it.
“Awww, it’s empty,” She claimed.
Did she not see the light shooting up? It had a green colour to it. No way anyone could have missed that.
“Yep, empty,” Indena supported.
No way. I went over and waved my hand around it, confirming it was there.
“You guys can’t see anything? Not even a light?”
“You going schizophrenic on us?” Indena questioned.
“I’m not schizophrenic!” I retorted. “Never mind. I guess there is nothing in there.”
A dialogue box opened up in my field of vision. It asked me if I wanted to access the inventory of the box.
-Yes-
Two items were in there. They were called: Nazalian Mage tunic +1 and Nazalian Armour +1.
Oh! Armour! Both of these items entered my virtual inventory. I had about 25 slots, but one of them was taken up by a sleeping ai named Anima, but that’s for another time.
I went into my USER IDENTIFICATION tab and swapped over to my equipment screen. I was wearing the Eighth Star battle armour. I decided to un-equip it.
The armour suddenly disappeared from my body. Now I was just standing there in my armour skin.
“Huh?” Indena commented. “Where'd your dress go?”
“My inventory,” I answered. “I told you a little about it before.” I said.
She probably didn’t remember. Oh well.
I equipped the Nazalian mage tunic +1. Suddenly blue robes with light leather padding and a belt wrapped around my body.
“Wow!” I cheered, thinking how wizard I literally looked!
“That’s very strange,” Yamin uttered.
“Oh, dude!” Indena cheered. “That’s sick! You can just change clothing like that?” She looked at Uncle. “Can you do that too?”
Suddenly his suit changed into his crystal armour that he used for combat. So this is how he’d been doing it!
“Unfortunately, you humans don't have the same ability.” He replied.
“Ahh…crap.” Indena stomped her foot. “Whatever.”
So anyways, this mage tunic I was wearing enhanced my magic abilities. I saw that my Mana Points meter went up a little bit and my Magic Attack stat raised a little too. That’s pretty sweet!
My Physical Attack stat went down just a pinch, same with my Armour Score. In case you're wondering, these stats reflected my personal abilities. Magic Attack and Physical Attack were pretty self explanatory, but Armour Score had to do with what armour I was wearing, and how much damage it would protect me from.
I also had natural armour too, but that was through the roof since my skin was made of impenetrable holy iron.
Since this tunic raised my magic capabilities, I assume that the Nazalian Armour +1 would do the same for my physical abilities.
-…-
Yep. The armour looked like something a warrior might wear in battle. Pretty cool!
Now that I’m able to switch out armour and clothing like this, getting dressed would be a sinch! Um…well, that’s not all it would do. It would also be pretty useful depending on what kind of situation we were in. Say I need more magic, I could use the tunic. Or if I needed a boost in my strength, I could use the Nazalian armour.
“I’m glad you're exploring these possibilities, Young Mistress,” Uncle said.
These items had a green rarity. According to the HELP tab, that was the second most common colour. It went : white, gold, red, blue and purple.
“How did you get that cool crystal looking armour, Uncle?”
His crystal armour suddenly changed back into his suit.
“This was custom made for me a long time ago by a friend.” He said.
“You have friends?” I blurted out, not thinking it could be offensive.
“Heh, how rude.” Uncle shook his head and smiled.
“No!” I tried to save myself here. “I didn’t mean it like that.”
He was okay with it, but I still felt pretty bad for saying it so mean-like.
The other rooms didn’t have nearly as exciting stuff in them. But still, these were some good finds. I’m sure they’d help us deal with the intruder, at least for me, anyways.
