Chapter 6:

Six chances at Love anniversary special comeback

Mystery ghost foresight

Once school got out, Reiju began walking home.

"Wanna stop by my place?" Shiruka asked?

"Um, no. Why would I?"

"I mean, we need a base of operations."

"For what? I was only doing this because it was a sunk cost, now that it's over, I'm done."

"Do you think that detective won't drag you into another case?"

"Whatever, let's just go to WcWarnolds or something," Reiju scowled in defeat.

                                                                          ...

As the two walked, they noticed a crowd gathering at a manga store.

"Must be some big release, don't care," Reiju grumbled.

Shiruka decided to take a peek, and was shocked by what he saw. He then frantically flew back to Reiju.

"You NEED to see this!" he shouted.

"What? Did someone actually get murdered?" Reiju grumbled as she pushed through the crowd.

In the store window were two different manga volumes and a sign that read,"Grouping of ghosts final volume and Six chances at Love special anniversary spin off NOW available!"

"So? these are just some new manga releases," Reiju grumbled.

"But I'M the author of both series!" Shiruka stated as he grabbed copies of the books.

"HUH!? How'd you do that!?"

"One of my ghost perks, hmm? Grouping of ghosts looks fine, but the spin off, I never wrote a manuscript for this," Shiruka mumbled as he read the spin off.

"Well how do you like the 10 year anniversary special?" I asked Shiruka telepathically.

"Muramasa Jouzu? You made this?"

"Yeah, even have an anime of it that will be airing in a few hours."

"An anime!?"

"Yeah, I decided to mark your comeback with the creation of the special and the release of Grouping of ghosts' final volume which I've been holding on to."

"Why'd you wait 7 years to release it?"

"I wanted you to see it, and have it mark your great comeback."

"Well, can't say I'm unhappy about it. What better way for me to make a comeback."

"Oh yeah, feel free to read the manga now, I'll resume time once you're done."

"Y- HUH!? Wait time is stopped!? Oh, guess that's why nobody's moving and there's no sound. Whelp, guess I'll read everything."

                                                                           ...

"When and why did you make an anime and a manga of a spin off of Six chances at Love?" Shiruka asked as he finished reading.

"In simple terms just now. I bet this'll be a nice work for those that weren't happy with Yona winning," I replied.

"I mean, I think it's good for an anniversary special, but why'd you choose to make it a story about Yona time looping?"

"Entertainment. Speaking of which, I wonder how your old assistant will feel about this work."

"Fumiyo Sakaguro? Is she still an ero crazed nut?"

"Yeah, even styled her hair like Fumiyo did in the epilogue once. Also got it all shaved off and fined for public indignity a few years ago."

"She was sort of pissed when I originally based Fumiyo off her. Well hopefully now she won't be able to bother me with her ero fantasies.

"The other girls weren't based on anyone as close to you though. Miyuu was based off a movie character, Yona was based off an athlete, while Sara was based off a prefect you hated."

"Yeah, that bitch would always yell me full name and punish me for doing the simplest offenses."

"Though Yukino's the real interesting one. You based her off the one person you actually had a crush on."

"Yes, Yukino Ginkawa. She was my classmate, but she vanished one day. Then nearly a year later, she was stated to be dead. I never really got close with her, but I did have a crush on her."

"Well, why not go talk to your partner. I bet she'll be more inclined to listen you if you tell her about Yukino."

"Alright."

I then resumed the flow of time.

                                                                                ...

"Huh? Ghost? Why do you look so satisfied?" Reiju asked.

"Because I read through something good. Plus, I now know what I have to say to get you to be nicer to me," Shiruka proudly huffed.

"Huh?"

"Want me to tell you everything I know about Yukino Ginkawa?"

Reiju's eyes widened as she began to tremble.

"How do you know about her?"

"Why don't we go somewhere more private, there I'll talk."

                                                                                  ...

"So spill it!" Reiju glared.

"Your mother Yukino was my classmate way back when. She was beautiful and the only person I even felt I had romantic feelings for," Shiruka explained.

"If you're implying you're actually my father, I'll kill you again!" Reiju snarled.

"Huh!? I'm a proud lifelong virgin! I also doubt she could have stolen some of my sperm without me knowing! But I'm more curious about you. Yukino disappeared, then a year later she was pronounced dead."

"Well that's the basic truth, in reality, she was pregnant with me then died a few days after giving birth, at least according to my aunt."

"So that's what it was, I had my doubts that you were related to Yukino, but I guess that confirms it."

"You know my hair and eye colors are a common trait of the Ginkawa family right?"

"Wait really?"

"Whatever, I hate my family anyway, my aunt's the only decent one though."

"Aren't you curious about me?" Shiruka asked.

"Just tell me so you'll erase that smug grin," Reiju snarled.

"I'm Shiruka, an infamous manga and novel author that was murdered along with TV anchor Riho Amanuma 7 years ago."

"Yeah, I remember that blurb from your note."

"Don't you want to know the who and why?"

"Don't care."

"The Australian actor that played Dumbee, Niles Thorndyke."

"Don't know."

"As for why he killed us, Amanuma told me about some cases the TV station was forbidden on mentioning. A shadowy organization known as Illumous..."

Reiju suddenly turned intently towards Shiruka at the mention of the organization.

"Seems you're interested after all," Shiruka smirked.

"I just know of the name, apparently my family hates them," Reiju grumbled.

"And you?"

"My decent aunt thinks they're the ones that killed my mother, while my family thinks one of their goons is my biological father. I hate em."

"Well good because they murdered me. So do you want to team up officially and solve mysteries? We might even be able to learn what really happened to Yukino."

"Whatever. I can't get rid of you. Just don't follow me home. I'll call or message just to let you know I'm back," Reiju grumbled as she set off.

"No worries. I'm not a perv unlike my old assistant," Shiruka called back as he headed for his place.

                                                                            ...

A beautiful woman with long lavender hair pouted in embarrassment as she read the Six chances at Love spin off.

"That baka! I thought he was dead! Did freezing himself really cure him? Ugh, why am I getting flustered. He's dead. There's no way he would have heard about my NSFW hairstyle publicity stunt. It's probably just some wannabe trying to imitate Nobuto's style. But why the delayed release of Grouping of ghosts? I know things were bad back then after the incident, but why wait 7 years? Could that baka really be alive? Then there's the reference to our collab manga. Ah Mo! I think I need to have Domino-chan clear my head with some S and m play," the woman thought to herself.
