Chapter 10:

Spirit magic

Rebirth of the mighty overlord

As Alan slowly raise his head and opened his eyes, he was forced to squint them as the light of the sun which glittered through the tiny gaps between the tree leaves blinded him momentarily. 'How long was I meditating?' He asked.

[Roughly two hours.] Akane replied. "Two hours, seriously! How strange it doesn't feel like I've been sitting here that long." Alan muttered to himself.

[I know... it's amazing how fast time flies.] Akane said, her tone sounded as though she was thinking about something.

'... Time huh, as a demigod I always thought I had all the time in the world but, my death came as something really unexpected. Now I left everything and everyone behind. It's ironic I can't help but wonder how would my life be if I never died? I guess nothing is really eternal' Alan's expression became a bit somber as he got lost in his sentimental feelings.

Perhaps realizing what he was thinking about Akane became silent and didn't disturb him out of consideration for his feelings.

Meanwhile, upon noticing Alan had finally opened his eyes. Trisa finally decided to approach him. She naturally notices his gloomy expression and hesitated to call out to him.

"Umm, young master are you feeling, okay?" Trisa asked tentatively, while tilting her head curiously. "... I am fine of course, is there something wrong?" Alan inquired.

"Eh, well..." Trisa was left speechless and unable to come up with the right words as she observes him curiously. However, before Trisa could answer it was her younger sister who did.

"Young master... I didn't know you were into meditation. And seeing you swinging a sword felt odd as you never showed any interest in such things before." Suzu said, in a monotonous voice, her short black hair fluttered gently by the wind.

Alan looked at the beautiful black-haired girl with an awkward expression, of course. He was already aware that Alan has never trained a day in his life. He is just nine years old after all but, Ellard wasn't someone who could wait patiently until the appropriate age he needed to prepare his body and reach the most optimal state for combat.

[Fufufu! What this little maid said makes sense, not a lot of kids are interested in learning about swords after all.] Akane said. [Instead, you should be out having fun but... I guess that is to be expected from you, after all you were never the social type.] Akane's melodious voice sounded inside his head.

Alan's brow twitch when he heard the words of Akane, it's not like he never wanted to make friends it's just that he never thought it was really necessary to be focusing on such things, back then only becoming stronger was his motivation and his reason was supporting the goddess, Udea. 'Ah, come to think of it Udea could be said to be my first friend.' He thought to himself.

"Is it wrong to be interested in sword or meditation?" He inquired curiously, in an indifferent tone. ".... No not at all, it's just a bit strange." She replied.

"Ahaha... well he is the heir of the dragon clan so, being interested in such strenuous activity is normal." Trisa said in a cheerful tone. At that Suzu nodded her head in agreement.

The dragon clan was once a clan of powerful warriors who are the masters of swordsmanship. "Heh, it's really ironic that I was reborn into a clan of swordmen but, I guess this is something the goddess did on purpose." Alan muttered to himself, "Hm? What did you say?" Trisa who had overheard his muttering asked in confusion. "Nothing... actually I wanted to ask you a bit about magic." Alan suddenly said, changing the subject.

His knowledge was a bit outdated, so he wanted to catch up more on this subject. "Oh, so now you're interested in magic too. Huh... well Suzu is more talented in spirit magic compared to me. I can only use low rank spells at the moment." Trisa said, somewhat embarrassedly scratching her head.

"Oh, really." Alan looked at Suzu with a glint of interest. Ellard wasn't very good at magic in his previous life and even when Udea tried to teach him for some reason he was completely incompatible with magic.

It was as if the world's mana rejected him whenever he tried casting spells. Alan looked at the palm of his tiny hands and couldn't help but be curious about the art of magic.

'Will I be able to use magic in this body?' He couldn't help but be a bit hopeful. though, he tried not to raise his expectation too high only to be disappointed later on.

Alan turned his gazed towards the beautiful girl with short length black hair, feeling his stare she couldn't help but give a sigh of resignation.

"Usually, one only starts to learn about magic when they reach the age of 13... we are four years too early for you to start but, I think it should be fine as long as we don't go overboard." She spoke.

'Hmm? At the age of 13. Huh, If I remember correctly, back then there was no restriction, anyone could learn about magic at any age.' Alan thought to himself, [Mm, it seems a lot had change since we were gone.] Akane said, her voice filled with curiosity.

"Okay, can you give me a little demonstration, Suzu?" Alan asked, hearing him call her Suzu, she couldn't help but narrow her sharpen eyes,

"Is something wrong?" He asked, tilting his head. "No, it's just hearing you call me Suzu instead of the usual, big sis sounds kind of strange." She replied.

"Ah." Alan let out a strange noise as he facepalm himself,

[You're really bad at this acting thing you know.] Akane couldn't help but voice her exasperations aloud. 'It's not my fault you know I'm not good saying such things, I'm not a child after all.' He complained.

[You are to the people around you.] Akane replied as though it was only natural.

"Oh, forgive me big sis, could you teach me a bit about magic?" Alan said, shyly. He played with the front bangs of his silver hair as he asked, his face cramp awkwardly as he tried exaggerating his tone sounding more cuter like an innocent child. 'Argh! If this keeps up, I'll die from embarrassment!' He shouted internally.

[AHAHAHA! This is gold! You should act cuter like this all the time... Ahaha!] The corners of Alan's mouth trembled as he heard Akane's elated laughter inside his head, he secretly promises himself to spank her ass red when she finally materializes into her physical form.

[Pervert.] A voice filled with disgust sounded but he ignored it.

"H-How cute." Suzu's usual indifferent expression broke for the first time as she stared at the young boy who was only nine years old with slightly long silver hair and green, emerald eyes. Her words only made Alan even more embarrassed.

"Ahem, let me teach you a basic level spell." Suzu said, clearing her throat awkwardly as she notices she wasn't acting like her usual self.

"Hehe, it's not often I get to see that cold indifferent expression of yours break, little sis." Trisa said, as she places her hand at her mouth and chuckled pleasantly.

"A-Anyway, magic is divided into two different categories, magic and spirit magic. I specialize in spirit magic." Suzu said, her expression became more serious. Alan nodded his head listening to her words intensively. Of course, he already knows about the two different types of magic that exist in this world but, since he wasn't able to learn any of them, he didn't really study or pay much attention of this subject. After all, why study something that wasn't going to be of any use to him in combat?

"Magic and spirit magic allows users to manipulate special phenomenon, they each has their own specialty. Magic allows the user to control the elements of nature to their own convenient, while spirit magic manipulates the spiritual energy within the body allowing the user to do much more than simply controlling just natural elements." Suzu explained, then she stretched out her hand and suddenly, "!?" Energy gathered in the palm of her hand, quickly condensing and becoming a small ball of light.

"As you can see. I can manipulate light to my own liking, this is something that simple magic cannot do no matter how skilled the caster is." She continued. Alan stared intensely at the ball of light; indeed, he could feel spiritual energy in the palm of her hand. 'Not bad even though it isn't as dense she still had good control.' He thought.

[Yes, within a few years this girl will become a strong mage.] Akane said.

Alan could also use spiritual energy but, he wasn't a mage who could use magic, instead he imbued his spirit sword with his own spiritual energy which allows him to use the power of Akane. Soon the light that had gathered in the palm of Suzu's hand slowly lost its intensity and disappeared.

"See..." She said with a cool face as though she didn't do anything special. "Haha... as expected of you." Trisa chuckled.

She wasn't that good at controlling spiritual energy as her younger sister but, she could use magic to a certain extent. She slowly held out her hand and chanted, "Water ball!" A magic formation appeared before her outstretched hand. Alan watched how tiny droplets of water began to appear before subsequently firing outwards like a speeding bullet.

BOOOOM!

The water ball struck a giant tree in the distant and the sound of a loud bang echoed out as a large hole could be seen within the center of the tree bark. Alan's eyes sparkled as he observed the giant hole within the tree, "What ya think?" Trisa asked with a smug smile. However, before Alan could answer her question, he was cut off by Suzu. "Idiot Look what you did to madam's favorite pine tree!" Suzu said, screaming her rebuke.

"Ah! Oh no, I completely forgot!" Trisa's face cramp as she sweat profusely.

Alan wore an awkward expression as he watches the panicking Trisa trying to use healing magic on the damage parts of the tree in what seem to be a futile attempt to repair the damage tree bark. Meanwhile, Suzu watches her sister with a blank face while sighing,

"Sometimes I really wonder which one of us is the older one."

Alan decided to ignore the comical scene playing out before him and attempted to use magic, he was curious if he could use it while being inside this new body.
