Chapter 1:

The one she loved

His Lies

"Look, I'm sorry. I never wanted you to be hurt because of my words. I know I'm such an idiot sometimes but I never wanted you to cry. I'm sorry, Akari," Tatsuya said to his girlfriend, Akari over the phone.

"Tatsu, you always say that. This is the fourth time that you've made me cry. Make me cry again and I won't talk to you!," Akari, a girl with red hair and green eyes said to her blue haired boyfriend.

"Yes, love. I understand," he said.

Akari just nodded in reply.

"Um, can we meet today? You can come over to my place. I'll make you some steak," he said.

Akari's eyes lit up in happiness.

"Of course. I'm coming over right now," she replied.

After hanging up on Tatsuya, Akari quickly changed her clothes and did her hair and makeup.

When she stepped out of her house, it was raining. She quickly went inside to get her umbrella and made her way towards Tatsuya's apartment building.

The walk was quiet and she was excited to eat something made by her dear boyfriend. She only had him on her mind.

Everything about Tatsuya was very beautiful and very appealing except for his mind. Tatsuya had always been a difficult person to understand. Akari had always thought that Tatsuya was a bit weird and creepy but she didn't know why she loved him.

Once, Akari was extremely sick and had to stay at the hospital for a while. Tatsuya was a doctor there.  That is when she had met him and had immediately developed an affection for him.

As she made her way inside the building and to Tatsuya's place, she knew that she was nervous. She had a feeling that she shouldn't be knocking on Tatsuya's door right now. She had a feeling that he shouldn't be opening the door right now. She had a feeling that something was definitely not right at all.

Or maybe, she was just thinking too much.

"I don't see you cooking anything. There's nothing on the shelf, too," Akari said when she was inside and had made herself at home.

"Oh baby, just wait for a minute. I'm gonna start cooking now," he said, putting on an apron.

"You should've started earlier. Cooking steaks takes time. Doesn't it?," Akari said.

"The meat's already marinated. We don't need to worry so much," he said, rolling his eyes.

"But still, hurry up. I'm hungry!," Akari said.

Tatsuya rolled his eyes.

"We should wait for the rain to stop, first," he said.

"Why?," Akari asked, confused.

"We're gonna cook on the roof," he said, smiling.

"What?! Are you kidding me? Didn't you check the weather? Everyone knew it was gonna rain today! How can you be such a dumbass?!," Akari said, furious.

"See, that is what makes you so difficult to handle, babe. You're always so angry," Tatsuya said.

"Oh, shut up!," Akari said and rolled her eyes.

There was an awkward silence for a while.

"Oh, it's stopped raining now! Let's go to the roof," Tatsuya suddenly said,

"It does look pretty good to me. You're good at cooking," Akari said when they were on the roof.

The weather had not changed that much. It wasn't raining but the sky was still very dark and cloudy.

"I was always good at cooking. I've just never cooked that much for you," he said, smirking.

Akari laughed.

"When did you buy this meat?," she asked.

"Oh, I bought it some time ago. It's been in my fridge for a while," Tatsuya answered.

"You sure love meat. Your fridge's always filled with meat," Akari said.

"Well, I've got my own supply of meat. It would be funny if I ran out of meat. I eat it almost everyday and all the time," he said.

Suddenly, lightning flashed and a thunderclap was heard. Akari flinched. She hated this weather.

"Tatsu, let's go back. We can cook the rest of it later," Akari said.

But Tatsu didn't listen to her and was busy with his cooking.

"Tatsu, let's go!," Akari said, touching his shoulder.

Tatsuya looked at Akari and then at the steak cooking in front of him.

"Tatsu!," Akari said.

Tatsuya was getting very angry now.

"Tatsuya, let's -," she said.

"If you say something again, you'll be the one I'll be cooking here!," Tatsuya interrupted.

Akari flinched. She was scared.

She quickly tried to make her way downstairs and ran towards the exit. But Tatsuya quickly pinned her to the wall.

Akari was panting and she didn't know why Tatsuya was so angry.

Suddenly, it started to rain again.

"Tatsu, it's raining. We gotta go," Akari said.

"Shut up! The meat's gonna go bad now because of you. If you hadn't disturbed me, it would've been done by now!," Tatsuya shouted.

"But-," she tried to protest.

"Don't say a single word! You see that room over there? Go inside that room and think about what you've done," he said, pointing to a room in the corner.

"But, I don't wanna go!," Akari said.

"Akari, just go!," he shouted.

So she went.

The room was extremely big but very dark and very smelly. It smelled of rotten eggs. She made her way even deeper into the room and was surprised to see that the room contained some preserved specimens in really big glass jars; jars big enough to fit a human.

Akari went around the room. She wasn't thinking about what she had done outside but she had found something far more mysterious and interesting. There were names written on a wall in the room. Next to the names, some dates were written. The most weird thing about the names was that they were all names of women.

Akari read the names as quickly as she could and at the farthest corner of the wall, her name was written:

Akari Yamamoto/3rd October 2023

Akari quickly took a step back. She was shocked. She didn't know what her name was doing on the wall with the names of the other women.

She read some more of the names:

Mina Fujimoto/9th September 2023

Sayami Hayachiro/5th May 2023

Saeki Takahashi/17th August 2023

Maya Kizuki/13th January 2023

Akane Hachiro/15th March 2022

Akari's mind was spinning. She didn't know what these names were doing on the wall or why they were there.

She quickly ran out of the room out of fear.

"Tatsuya, what are those names on the wall?!," she immediately asked when she saw her boyfriend.

"Oh, my poor baby! They're the names of the women I have dated," he said.

He was sitting in the rain on the edge of the roof and was sharpening a knife.

"What?! But you've been dating me for three whole years! How can that happen?!," she asked.

"Come here and I'll explain it to you," he said.

She was hesitant but she went either way. She sat down next to him on the edge of the roof.

She looked him in the eyes as he talked.

"Those names are the names of the women that i hooked up with. Those dates are the dates on which I hooked up with them," he said, with a straight face.

Akari was shocked.

"But later, I ate them. I always ate the women I hooked up with. After all, they're my precious supply of meat. The ones who're extremely delicious are preserved in those glass jars," he said.

"You ate them?! Just like the way we eat food?!," she asked.

He nodded.

"You do know that I love to see people die. Right? I love death. I never want to die but what I do want is to see other people die," he said.

"My name...why is my name written on that wall?," she asked, as she cried.

"It's simple. Isn't it? I'm gonna kill you and eat you," he said, smirking.

"But you're a doctor, Tatsuya!," she said.

"Yes, and I love you!," he said and stabbed her in the heart.

Akari died right on the spot. But before Tatsuya could even touch her dead body, it fell from the roof and onto the road below.

Akari's lifeless body lay on the road below as her lover stared at it from the roof above.

And it was all because they had loved each other.

And his lies had given birth to the event that had taken place today.
