Chapter 9:

Epilogue

Emilia and the Red Shoes

The nurse took me to my room where I had to spend the next few days strengthening my body and muscles to be able to walk again. I was already used to that part.

When I was fully recovered, I was released. I was afraid to leave; after all, it was the first time I had been outside in a long time. And come to think of it, it had been quite a journey.

The hospital gave me a stipend so that I could live on my own, since I had no connections outside. I was able to return to school where I made new friends and shared my crazy time travel experiences.

How many generations had passed? None of that mattered; what mattered was that my clock was ticking again.

As I got older, I joined the theater. I was surprised that there was still a place for it among so much technology and robots, inventions of the great Mauricio, a boy who once had ideas to escape from a hospital and used his knowledge to benefit humanity.

Speaking of humanity, I visited the Soccer Museum, where I saw great teams that have graced the earth. I also saw various trophies and medals. There were so many promising players. But one of them caught my attention the most: Marco, the artist. The one who dribbled like no one else.

An artist like me? So he's my rival on another stage? You can bet he'd lose to me.

In one of his most famous interviews, he said that his greatest inspiration came from the performance of a friend he watched as a child. The passion and dedication she put into her dancing was unparalleled. He was so impressed at the time that he tried to apply it to soccer, and that's how the great star he became was born.

I also felt ashamed when I saw the price he had paid for my shoes and how reckless he had been. Beatrice, a great lawyer at the time, helped him through various legal problems he faced.

As for me? I became the greatest performer of that era. My performances were always packed, and people cheered to see the woman in red, Emilia.

And I have to thank everyone who has followed me, read my story and believed in me. I have to thank Camille for the inspiration she gave me, the love of my parents, the care and footsteps of Rose, the happiness of my friends, and also Marco's gift.

Thank you all.
