Chapter 109:

Ghost Amongst Men

Wolf Bloodline

But when the gases lifted, there was no one there.

It was just only the gas around, which was rapidly losing its density. The vast majority of it was out of our sight and revealed the empty wall and floor that stood in front of us. But where was she? In a matter of seconds, she went up in smoke and disappeared as if she were nothing.

Could she still be here?

While we were looking around, the knight got a hard kick in the face, absolutely out of nowhere. I didn't even realize where it was coming from, so did the knight who gave it away with the muddle pain in his face.

A vast majority of his saliva got out of his mouth and just splashed the ground. And the sound of his bone echoed while he got back a little.

As to help him, I swung my stick right on top of her head. But her fast reflexes, and pre-made brisk strategies, were a defending point that I couldn't surpass. She had just easily repelled my attack, crouched, and swung back a kick at me.

To pretend it was just like she did, I moved back to a defending a position with rapid moves and managed to block her kick. Then the knight took this chance and pushed his sword directly to her belly. Just to her stomach when we almost caught her off guard.

Almost.

The elite soldier, at the very last second, turned her body to the left, dodged the sword blow, and gave a creepy look. She knew she was going to attack us much more aggressively than us. And that was the exact opposite of our tactic.

She struck the knight once more with the back of her foot, and got away from one distraction. She was gaining advantage once more.

*We couldn't let her do that.* So as I thought.

And so on, I used my eyes very carefully in those matter of seconds, and saw a deficit in her.

"Thank you! Mr.Knight!" I shouted for him to hear me clearly.

Thanks to him, I was able to hit her stomach with the tip of my stick. It was the exact moment when she attacked him. She had dropped her guard, made herself able to hit the knight easier and her positioning was right. But after she did that, she dropped her guard just for a little moment and wasn't probably waiting for some close combat move.

So I hit her and got her attention right back at me.

Which annoyed her very much. More than I thought.

She was angry. She was driven mad. And was also infuriated.

While I was pulling my stick on myself, I set the timing wrong and she grabbed my stick with a move. She then pulled herself up and I couldn't control myself. So I found myself retreating towards the elite soldier. She was now going to stab me with the sai in her left hand.

But once again, the knight saved me by holding his sword in front of me. He blocked the incoming attack and the sound of metal hitting each other became easily hearable.

Then, when he raised his sword in front of me, unbeknownst to the elite soldier, I tried to kick her once more. To our luck, she suffered a slight setback due to it, and got another opportunity. The Knight and I, looked at each other, grasped our weapons, and attacked at the same time.

He tried to swing his sword powerfully at the elite soldier. At first, she, much faster than before, stopped the sword blow with her weapon and rested it on her arm.

As I was about to swing my stick at her again, a gas gushed out of her hand, through a device that lay from her wrist to the palm of her hand. Right exactly into my face. It was all a sudden act, I had no choice rather than breathe it in.

And it burned. My nose and face, eventually after that dose, became unbearable and my eyes became watery.

This was another variant gas that prevented me from seeing the gas and attacking it properly. So I barely started to see in front of me, and as soon as I got caught in the way of the elite soldier, I got a hard kick in the stomach. Once again, she attacked in order and drew the knight's sword towards the ground. Using less than the same amount of gas, made him let go of his sword from his hand.

Then she stuck one of her weapons in his shoulder and pulled him into the corner. She was trying to make it difficult for me to reach out to him and help him. The blade type was piercing through his shoulder and it was getting deeper. It was now all blood that came out of his mouth.

"Hnnngh!"

But the knight didn't give away his last energy that moment. He started even to groan with pain. But he held the sai and looked deep into Poison's eyes. Pushed her till they were away from the wall, and getting his arm around her, he lifted her, punched her in the stomach, throwing her far away.

So on, as he caught some air, I got closer to her and started to swing my stick at her.

I couldn't have done much on my own, but it was enough of a distraction for the knight to recover.

He got wounded, completely out of energy at this point. Not only his body was still moving, but he was also still very silent at fighting. Carrying, on one hand, the wounds of previous conflicts into which he had entered, while on the other hand, he was throwing himself forward with the pain of mourning, which he held.

He was pushing himself... It was really painful. He was not struggling helplessly, but was sinking more and more.

They were both out of breath and one was on the ground now. Then the knight pulled out the weapon on his shoulder, and threw that away too, to the ground.

And while both sides looking at each other with a killing intention, she made her voice louder,

"The minutes I am spending with you two is irreversible! So just get out of my way and make it easier for me!"

We were both torn up, and blood was coming unstoppably out of the knight's mouth. His inner organs were much more damaged than mine, and I was able to see his skin turn pale slowly.

It was just like a race towards time.

So I held my weapon horizontally and said with one foot above the ground,

"We will not! We are not going to play along with your plans!"

"Is that so? Maybe I should make you play..."

"You guys aren't here for ordinary reasons. So are we. It is a disrespectful matter that you are trying to prove here." The Knight said, as annoyed just like her.

"I am not here for your riddles. I am just implementing my others."

"But you will not be able to accomplish them either. You are not eager, you are just arrogant. Having discipline, even on the road of evil, is a must you have known. But still, turning into the right spot over and over again, you are just trying to "Hunt" us down, not neutralize us."

"You have a way with words, Honorary Knight. I'll give you that. And maybe that is indeed correct."

She then slowly grabbed one of her poison bombs and got ready to attack once more.

"Maybe we are all going to give something away right here."
