Chapter 1:

Reincarnation and Family Encounters

Bloodbound: A Princess's Open Secret

Within the vast expanse of this dimension, where realms of magic and royalty intertwined, a momentous event unfolded—the birth of a child into the distinguished lineage of the Suzuki kingdom, a name synonymous with honor and nobility. In this enchanting world, the child was christened with the name Rinko Suzuki, a name destined to echo with reverence throughout the kingdom's history.

Rinko's very presence radiated an otherworldly charm, setting her apart as a figure of grace and wonder. Her most striking features were the bushy fox ears that crowned her head and the matching, fluffy fox tail that trailed behind her, like a pair of regal insignias bestowed upon her by the heavens.

A cascade of ivory strands flowed down her back like a silken waterfall that eventually faded to pink, accenting well with her skin, which possessed the ethereal pallor of the moon at its most luminous. It was as though the very essence of moonlight had been captured in her complexion, casting an enchanting glow wherever she went.

Her eyes, perhaps her most captivating feature, shone with a crystalline blue that rivaled the depths of the ocean. They held a certain enchantment, their radiance akin to the most precious of polished sapphires. Within those azure depths lay a world of mystery and wisdom, a testament to the depths of her soul.

In the world I once knew as Earth, beings possessing such extraordinarily endearing characteristics often fell under the category of demi-humans or kitsune, mythical creatures that dwelled on the border between the mundane and the extraordinary. However, in this world of magic and mystique, Rinko's form was not a mere novelty but a symbol of her noble heritage and divine lineage. It was this extraordinary vessel, bearing the hallmarks of both nobility and mystique, that had become my new identity following reincarnation in this captivating realm.

***

Five years had unfurled their majestic tapestry of time since my birth, a silent witness to the twists and turns of fate. Who would have ever imagined that the hands of reincarnation would mold me into the form of a girl—a princess and no less, second in line to the throne? The revelation had been nothing short of a thunderbolt from the blue, its echoes still resonating within me.

Hey, administrator, I ventured, my thoughts echoing in the chambers of my mind. You're certain this form is the most optimal for my development, right? The silence that followed served as my answer, a profound reminder that this reality was now my own to navigate. With a nonchalant shrug, I accepted my newfound identity. I was never all that attached to my masculinity in my past anyway. I will never understand anyone who makes their birth-sex or gender identity their entire personality. It’s all a social construct anyway.

Within the confines of my room, a full-length mirror offered a glimpse into my newborn existence. The reflection that met my eyes was a testament to the artistry of fate and the diligent care of my assigned maid, Hilda. It was the first time I had been permitted to go beyond the walls of my chamber since my convalescence. With each contour and nuance of my figure now apparent to me, anticipation rippled through my being.

The memories of a loving family, doting parents, and an elder sister infused my heart with warmth. Despite the weight of their royal duties, they had always carved moments for me like precious gemstones amidst the sands of time. Bedtime stories, shared meals, and their unwavering presence during my bout of illness painted a stark contrast to the world I had known in my past life. In that distant world, I could never have fathomed a royal family so dedicated to nurturing their children.

As I strolled down the intricately ornate halls of the palace, my thoughts weaved a tapestry of curiosity. The world around me buzzed with activity, but I couldn't escape the enigma that was my existence within this family of divine spirit fox. While my family's members shared the same striking foxlike characteristics, with their bushy tails and pointed fluffy ears, I stood as an outlier with my peculiarly pale complexion. My skin, like a canvas untouched by the sun's embrace, contrasted starkly with their radiant hues. It was an incongruity that couldn't be ignored, a puzzle piece that refused to fit.

Questions, like shadows, crept into my mind, each one more persistent than the last. Had I entered this world with some ailment—a flaw that marked me as different? Why did I bear this striking divergence from the very family I now considered my own? The answers, elusive as they were, danced just beyond my reach, inviting me to unravel the mystery of my existence.

The uncertainty clawed its way into my thoughts, like a relentless shadow encroaching upon my mind. I could feel my brow furrow, a telltale sign of the turmoil within. The fear of the unknown had been a lifelong companion, even in my previous life. In moments where understanding eluded me, anxiety surged through my veins like a relentless tide. My mind, ever prone to over-analysis, spun intricate webs of complexity around even the simplest of situations.

While I grappled with my internal struggles, I fought to keep a composed facade as I passed attendants and officials on my way to join my beloved family for breakfast. During my illness, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that our kingdom offers foods reminiscent of my old world. I was nurtured back to health with dishes like miso soup and rice porridge, which I found truly delectable. So, today's breakfast holds a sense of excitement as I wonder what culinary delights await.

As I walked through the opulent palace halls, the plush carpets lining the corridors muted my footfalls, acting like a silent accomplice. The very walls seemed to hold their breath, adorned with tapestries that whispered tales of history, their intricate designs a testament to the skill of long-forgotten artisans.

Sunlight streamed through the grand windows, its warm embrace casting a soft glow upon the ornate surroundings. The carvings on the palace walls came alive as the morning light caressed their intricate forms, revealing details I'd missed on countless prior occasions. Each swirl and flourish in the design told a story, a silent narrator of the kingdom's rich history.

Within this lavish tapestry of a palace, the courtiers, advisors, and servants moved with the precision of a grand ballet, their every step choreographed by the demands of their roles. It was a world in constant motion, an orchestra of duties and responsibilities that played out around me.

Despite my initial trepidation and uncertainty in this unfamiliar realm, I couldn't deny the growing fascination that welled within me. The palace, with its secrets and stories, had become my enigmatic home, and I, an eager but humble spectator in the grand theater of courtly life.

I approached the grand hall, its massive doors adorned with intricate engravings and golden filigree. The warm, magical, flickering torchlight danced upon the polished marble floors, casting long, dancing shadows. Two knights, their shining armor reflecting the soft glow, stood guard by the entrance. As I neared, they acknowledged me with a respectful bow, their armor plates clinking softly.

Gustav, the taller of the two knights, stepped forward with a furrowed brow that spoke of his recent worry. "Your Highness, we were deeply concerned for your well-being during your illness."

I met his gaze with a genuine smile, feeling the weight of his concern. "Thank you for your kind words, Sir Gustav. I apologize for causing you such worry. Now, I am grateful to be well and eager to enjoy a hearty meal." My voice was warm and filled with gratitude

Sir Gustav, a towering figure with a demeanor that combined unwavering loyalty with a hint of playfulness, stepped aside from the grand doors of the dining hall. He extended his arm with a flourish, his eyes crinkling at the corners as a genuine grin graced his face. The camaraderie of the moment was evident, as if he welcomed not just a princess but a cherished friend.

"In that case, Your Highness," he began, his voice resonating with warmth, "allow me to welcome you to a feast fit for royalty. We have yet to break our fast, and your presence has brought a welcome change of pace to our day." His arm remained extended, an unspoken invitation to step into the grand hall.

With a delighted giggle, I accepted his invitation, my heart buoyed by his affable nature. His chivalrous gesture was a testament to the deep respect and genuine affection that the palace staff held for our family. As I glided through the open doors, I was met with a breathtaking spectacle of elegance and opulence.

The grand hall beckoned with its opulent walls, adorned with rich tapestries that seemed to absorb the soft echoes of my footsteps. The morning sunlight, gentle and inviting, streamed through the grand windows, casting intricate carvings into vivid relief. Each crest and motif came alive, recounting tales of valor and history, a silent testament to the kingdom's rich heritage.

In this regal setting, I spotted my family, the pillars of my world, engaged in their morning rituals. My father, King Rio Suzuki, stood with an air of regal authority, engrossed in conversation with my mother, the Queen Consort, Runa Suzuki. Their brows were furrowed, and their voices carried a weight of seriousness that hung in the air. It was clear that their responsibilities as monarchs weighed heavily on them.

Father was a divine spirit fox with silver hair and blue eyes. He had a lean, yet muscular frame that enhanced his commanding presence and was 180 centimeters tall. Mother, nymph royalty, hailed from a foreign kingdom called the Eldraz Empire, had pink hair, and violet eyes. She was around 162 centimeters tall.

My elder sister, Rin Suzuki, the crown princess and my beloved confidante, leaned forward with an animated expression. Her violet eyes brimmed brightly with excitement as she engaged in conversation with the headmaid. Every gesture she made was a dance of grace and charm, her fingers occasionally tracing invisible patterns through the air like a conductor directing an orchestra. Her pink hair seemed to dance with each movement. It was evident that she was delving into the world of fashion beyond noble circles; her enthusiasm was contagious.

I approached Rin with a warm smile tugging at my lips. "Good morning, elder sister," I greeted, my voice soft and filled with genuine affection. "I trust that you are well. I apologize for missing our lessons during my illness."

Rin's response was a radiant smile, a testament to her warmth and understanding. At twelve, she carried herself with the grace of a future leader, her confidence and poise evident in every gesture. "Oh, Rinko, you're finally back," she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine delight. "I'm doing well, and it's no problem at all if you missed a few lessons while you were sick. After all, there will always be things utterly beyond our control."

With shared laughter, I joined her at the elegant dining table, my heart swelling with affection for the sister who always made me feel welcomed and cherished. Without hesitation, she steered our conversation towards the latest fashion trends in the capital. "Come, have a seat," she urged, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "I'd love to hear your thoughts. Your sense of style is unique, and I value your opinion."

As we delved into the world of fashion, our voices filled the room with a symphony of laughter and excitement. Rin's vibrant descriptions of the extravagant gowns and intricate accessories worn by the capital's elite brought the conversation to life. We shared stories and anecdotes, our hands gesturing animatedly and our laughter echoing through the opulent hall.

Amidst our lively exchange, the butlers and servants moved with the precision of a well-practiced ballet. Trays and carts laden with intricate yet delicious dishes began to appear, laying a sumptuous feast before us. The table, initially filled with animated chatter, slowly fell into hushed reverence as the feast continued to unfold. It became evident that the abundance of culinary delights was almost comically excessive for just the four of us.

Suppressing a wry smile and a soft chuckle that threatened to escape, I raised an inquisitive brow and broke the silence, my voice gentle with curiosity. "Father," I began, "isn't this feast a bit extravagant for just the four of us?"

King Rio Suzuki, with twinkling eyes that mirrored the amusement in Sir Gustav's, chuckled in response. "Ah, Rinko, ever perceptive," he remarked, his tone warm and affectionate. "But there's a reason for the grandeur today. We have the pleasure of hosting an ambassador from your mother's kingdom, as well as your older cousins, Kyle and Dryas, the prince and princess. The family needs to reconnect. I hope you'll join us in making their stay memorable."

I hesitated for a moment, a flicker of concern crossing my features at the mention of Prince Kyle, known for his ‘playful’ yet sometimes troublesome nature. I say playful, but really, he’s just a filthy womanizer and is not the type to shy away from trying to bed his cousins. I wasn't particularly looking forward to the interactions with him. However, Dryas, his twin sister, was a charming presence. Mother noticed my brief scowl and chuckled, her understanding gaze was comforting.

The Eldraz empire royal family were all nymphs with pink hair and violet eyes. Dryas is the crown princess, whereas her twin brother is well known as a womanizer that was disinherited after causing a major incident with a foreign princess. The Eldraz kingdom had to pay reparations due to that incident, which marred the nation's history. Eldraz is a southern island nation that borders Mina and Suzuki. 20 years ago, they were our enemies, and there was a great war which led to Mother marrying Father as a political deal for peace.

The guard's announcement interrupted my thoughts, signaling the arrival of our esteemed guests. We rose from our seats, and I summoned my best attempt at a polite and welcoming smile, even as I noticed Prince Kyle's mischievous grin and approached me.

When Kyle with his snark approached me, I had to fight against my urge to back away. “Ah, you look like you're growing splendidly, perhaps in five or so years I might have to send you an engagement offer.” Kyle was as direct as ever, and equally revolting, so I responded, “While I certainly appreciate a complement as much as the next lady, I must decline your offer in advance, my humblest apologies, Kyle.” After which his smile twitches, but he was then pushed away before he could respond by his sister Dryas, who smiled at me warmly. For which I was eternally grateful.

"My, Rinko, it's good to see you up and about," she greeted, her eyes reflecting genuine relief. "When I heard about the horrendous fever you had and that the doctors gave up, I swear my heart skipped a beat at the thought I might lose you."

I couldn't help but giggle at her heartfelt concern. "Surely you exaggerate. I was only bedridden for a week," I replied, my voice tinged with amusement. "Though, it's the first time I've heard that the doctors gave up on me. Are you sure that wasn't just an inconvenient rumor, Dryas?"

Her response was a goofy grin, and she playfully poked me between the eyes, causing me to go cross-eyed momentarily. "I swear I'm not exaggerating, I heard they even brought in a doctor from off the planet." she insisted, her affectionate gesture making my heart swell with warmth. "Be sure to take extra good care of yourself going forward, okay, Rinko?"

I couldn't resist a bit of playful sarcasm. "Yes, Mother," I replied with a grin, stepping lightly back out of her reach. Her saying off planet did make me question my hearing though.

As I observed the interactions between our family and the visiting royalty, I couldn't help but appreciate the heartwarming moments and the genuine connections that bound us. Despite the occasional discomfort that came with encountering Prince Kyle, I cherished the support and camaraderie of my elder sister and Dryas.

With a sigh of relief, I returned to breakfast, savoring the respite from Prince Kyle's unwanted attention. As I engaged in casual conversations and listened attentively to the discussions of those who held my affection, I gleaned valuable insights into the purpose of the ambassador's visit. My observations revealed that the ambassador and his royal entourage had journeyed here to engage in educational exchange and hone their skills, as was customary for royalty and nobility of their age.

***

With breakfast now behind us and the ambassador and his entourage having departed to rest in the guest house, this day marked the resumption of my lessons, a routine that would guide my path into an uncertain future. During the meal, Father dropped a significant piece of news that had my mind spinning with anticipation and curiosity. He mentioned that, in just a few more years, I would be required to undergo a particular evaluation process at the church. This evaluation would not only determine the optimal course for my life but would also play a pivotal role in directing my education, training, and, most intriguingly, my magical capacity.

As I strolled through the palace's ornate yet intricate halls, my thoughts swirled like a tempest. What did this evaluation entail? What would be expected of me? And what role would magic, a newfound element in my life, play in this pivotal moment of my journey?

My ever-diligent personal guard, Elizabeth, joined me as I walked the halls in thoughtful silence. Despite her high rank, she was more than a protector; she was a trusted confidante and a source of unwavering support. I preferred to call her Liz or Lizzy, a testament to the close bond we shared.

Liz, a former commoner who had ascended through the ranks in the army based on her determination and skill, fell a half-step behind me to my right, adhering to the customary etiquette that vassals showed their suzerain. She inquired with a genuine concern that shone through her vigilant demeanor, "My lady, how was breakfast? Did anyone cause you trouble from the ambassador's party?"

I offered Liz a warm smile, appreciative of her diligence and her ever-watchful presence. "Breakfast was fine, Liz; thank you for asking," I replied. The memory of Prince Kyle's teasing during the meal brought a playful glint to my eye. "Prince Kyle did try to tease me, but Princess Dryas and my elder sister came to my rescue, so I'm quite alright."

Liz nodded, her expression relaxing as she realized that no harm had befallen me. "I'm glad to hear that, my lady," she responded with sincerity. "Please don't hesitate to inform me if anyone attempts to give you trouble in the future. I will ensure they are dealt with appropriately."

Her words were a testament to her dedication and the sense of security she provided. I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude. "Thank you, Liz. I feel much safer knowing you're here to protect me."

As we continued our leisurely walk through the palace's majestic corridors, I couldn't help but be lost in my thoughts. The upcoming evaluation at the church loomed large in my mind, casting a shadow over the path ahead. It was a pivotal moment in my journey, one that would set the course for my future in this new world.

We arrived at the grand drawing room, the hallowed ground where my lessons were to be held. My elder sister, Rin, already occupied a seat; her presence was a comforting reassurance. The tutors and scholars were waiting, ready to impart their knowledge and wisdom. I greeted my tutor with respect and a smile, acknowledging his presence.

Liz, ever diligent, took up her position nearby, just out of sight, her watchful eyes ensuring my safety even as I delved into the world of learning. The lessons began in earnest, and I dedicated myself to absorbing the knowledge and skills that would shape my destiny. Under the watchful gaze of my tutor and the reassuring presence of Liz, I embarked on this new chapter of my journey, my mind filled with anticipation and determination. Feeling comfortable to ask about some harder subjects. I collected my thoughts, then, “What exactly is the origin of my race, and why is my family the only divine spirit foxes in existence?” My tutor’s eyes widened in surprise then he thought it over. “I suppose I would have to teach you the history of the world and the origin story of all creation eventually, I am glad to have such a curious student to teach” after which he explained the history of this world, and this very dimension.

***

As my tutor tells it, this is the origin of this dimension and the history leading up to the modern era: No one knows when the creation of the universe began, or how it started. No one knows why. However, one thing everyone can agree to is that the goddess of creation and destruction Lena likely created it all.

Over the countless millennia, it is assumed that the various other gods were born from mortals who possessed the divine spark.

The divine spark is an exceptionally rare hidden skill. It is said that it only shows up once every 5000 years. However, no one can tell if they have the divine spark, and due to the hidden requirements to attain godhood, it is even rarer for a god to be born of the mortal races.

After hearing this, I had to ask, “How does one know about this hidden skill when it is hidden?”

“Good question your highness, there was a big study done on the subject which led to the creation of a device that can detect individuals with the hidden skill, based on the ease at which a person learns an element of magic, as well as the person’s overall strength with said element. However, this device is in one of the many intergalactic nations. It was last said to be in the holy kingdom of Lumina a hundred years ago, it should still be there today.”

Ah I see, I would be interested in seeing this machine at some point. Sounds neat honestly. After I nodded for him to continue, he explained the more recent major history.

Rin leans in to speak lightly into my ear. “My, Rinko, you seem awfully intrigued by the history of the family today, did something happen?”

“Er,” A bead of sweat trickles down my brow, “I uh, just needed a refresher. That’s all.” My eyes shift to the right, and I glance down to avoid looking into my sister's eyes.

“You have never been a good liar Rinko, but I assume you have a reason. Just tell me when we are in private when you're ready, alright? Promise me that, ok?”

“I-I will, I promise.” My faltering promise made Rin’s eyebrows rise in surprise, but truthfully, it might be a good idea to tell her I have memories of my past life. I don’t want to hide anything from my beloved elder sister.

After that, I asked the tutor to continue and apologize for the interruption.

One day in relatively recent history, roughly 20,000 years ago, Lena created the planet Runaria to be the central hub of all races within this dimension which has come to be known as the origin of the gods. Lena invited the mortal races to Runaria, and their gods followed. Around 10,000 years later, the goddess Lena and the god of the elves Haldir married and gave birth to the high elves who became the elf royalty.

5,000 years later, an event occurred when Lena founded the Suzuki kingdom. Upon conceiving the divine spirit foxes who were to become royalty for the kingdom, Lena noticed that she felt weakened and later that year, she vanished entirely. It is speculated that she lost her divinity which led to her divine spirit fox kin being born as mortals. Haldir, in his grief at the loss of his beloved wife granted a blessing to her kin, so that their lineage would never vanish from the world. This is why the divine spirit fox race, which is exclusive to the Suzuki royal family never lost their distinct features despite breeding with other races over the years until the modern era in the year 3150. 3150 years after Lena's disappearance was confirmed. The Calander was reset in honor of her assumed death.

With his wife gone, Haldir vanished soon after, but is confirmed alive and well.

Honestly this all sounds incredibly fantastical and it’s a lot to take in, but this is all treated as fact. So, I try to take it seriously. When I asked how the other races moved to Runaria, my dear tutor dropped the biggest bomb I could have expected. Intergalactic space travel was achieved in the golden age of the gods over 50,000 years ago and many of the races have raised entire intergalactic empires. However, due to a treaty, Runaria is left alone as a trade hub between all the nations regardless of war or peace status and has its own autonomy. It is run by all the races, which created separate small kingdoms there that are effectively in the Middle Ages. However, the planet has one spaceport which is protected by the elves.

Due to the origin of the two nations, the elvish kingdom of Mina and the Demi-human kingdom of Suzuki are long-standing allies and have been since their founding. Over time the Demi-human kingdom became a melting pot of races, not just demi-humans, but Drows, Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Beastmen and various other races began settling in the Suzuki kingdom over time. It was an utterly fascinating tale, one which felt oddly nostalgic, even though this is my first time in this world. My tutor and I eventually moved on from this topic and went back to my regular instruction from there for the rest of the day.
