Chapter 3:

Chapter 3: The Seeds

River Of Anew: Farming In Another World

After one long sleep, Foin woke up. He was still under a large pile of grass; however, there was one thing which stunned him. Before his eyes, a somewhat transparent panel was floating.

"Congratulations, the system has been activated!"

As Foin opened his eyes and noticed the floating ext, he rubbed his eyes first, and then he touched the floating panel. It was quite soft and rubbery, but once he touched it, it vanished, and instead, a few new panels appeared, all with the same text.

"You have gained 1 Experience Point and 1 Point."

"What the hell is this?!"

Foin quickly shook his head, pushed the grass off of him, and, with shaking hands, touched his head. He was unable to comprehend what was going on.

"Could it be that I have died and was taken to another world with a system?! But that only happened in fiction. Also, in those cases, the lucky ones didn't sustain the damage they had in their previous lives. I can still feel how my body was beaten..."

The panels were only visible for a few moments, and then they vanished, unlike the first floating panel. After taking a few long breaths, Foin finally calmed down, though he still didn't understand the situation, especially why he got Experience Points, as he had done nothing yet, at least, that is what he believed until he looked around.

"What the..."

He could see that the seeds he had planted had already started growing. It seemed as if, in that single night, weeks had gone by. The flower seeds he had planted had already grown, and its flowers started blooming. Although he believed he was not specialised in flowers, the flower which had grown from the seeds was something he had never seen. It had a dark red chore surrounded by light blue petals.

The same was true for the potato and pepper as well; they had grown greatly, but they were not yet mature. The potato only had a tiny foliage which was visible above the ground. As for the pepper, it had grown greatly, but it only had flowers; no crop was formed yet.

Foin crawled back to his bag and quickly took out his squashed peppers and the bread, and started eating. Seeing how fast the plants had grown, he was somewhat relieved that he would not need to worry that much about staring, but instead, now he had to worry about this strange new world.

But being aware of his situation and strange predicament, for some reason, he was relatively calm. Hoping that he would be able to harvest the paper within a day or two, Foin didn't hesitate eating till he was filled. Of course, paper and plain bread were not very appetising, but he had to make do with that. When he was finished, only about two-thirds of the bread was left, which he packed carefully and placed back into his back, which he then covered with his pullover.

"Alright... Let's see... I still have some potatoes left, but I do not want to eat them raw... Also, the new bunch is already growing... So, I should start gathering some wood..."

He looked at the nearest trees, and he realised that even if his leg was perfectly fine, he would need to climb up to reach even the lowest branches, so his only choice remained was to go around and search for some that had been broken off.

He slowly started making his way over to the trees. He tore off the tall grass as he was travelling and realised that he could use it later. He could even use them to start a fire more easily after drying them to some degree.

In his state, he was moving quite slowly as once in a while, he brought back the grass he had collected and put it back into the pile, making it larger and larger. After hours of work, he took a longer break. In that time, he drank from the river and even washed his head. It was getting hotter and hotter as the sun slowly crawled up in the sky, so he took off his shirt, placed it onto his pullover and then got to work again.

Based on his assumptions and seeing the state of the sun, it was just about noon when he finally reached the first tree. Back over his original place, the grass pile grew to such a size that it could hide him easily if he wanted to.

Now that he was around the tree, he started searching. He could find a few smaller sticks, which he instantly brought back to his backpack and then made his way over to the next tree.

He spent the rest of his day collecting sticks, which he collected in another pile. he managed to gather quite a large number of them, but most of them were quite small. In the meantime, he also found some pieces of stones, which he also gathered. He had a perfect idea that he could use the stones to help him dig if he needed to.

"Huh... Even with such restricted movement, I am quite enjoying this new life... Who knew that living in such peacefulness would be so great... In this world, I don't have to worry about food as it will keep growing; I have fresh water..."

He mumbled as he leaned against the large pile of grass and looked at the dozens of sticks he had collected. After moving around the whole day using only his hands, he could feel his hands start to ache, but all he could do was smile.

After a brief pause, he put his shirt back on, pulled another pile of grass onto him and then closed his eyes. He was happy with what he had achieved that day, and before he fell asleep, he started planning his next day.

He was hoping that his crops would mature by that time so he could plant more just to make sure that he had everything in abundance, and also, he was curious to see what would happen to the flower.
