Chapter 6:

Catpurr 6: Weapons Galore

Trials Of The Nekomancer!

Catpurr 6: Weapons Galore

Standing the midst of a field of iron flowers, Adam held his hands on his knees, panting as took a moment to recover from the fact that he just survived being nearly impaled by hundreds of falling weapons.

The goblinoid that had been chasing him however, wasn't so lucky as Adam spotted its twitching headless corpse underneath a massive iron hammer.

Sadly, the death of the monster didn't count toward his kill counter, but at the very least he now had something to wear as he walked over and stripped the body of its thin rags.

Covering his unmentionables, Adam walked around, eyeing the landscape of random weapons embedded into trees, stone, and earth.

Admittedly, Adam wasn't much of a fighter, and mostly left all the menial tasks such as combat and battle to his summons, preferring to run away or cast spells as he fled.

Unfortunately he'd have no luck here as he still had two hours left on his timer, and time was ticking. He needed to pick a weapon and get to slaying if he was going to complete this quest. Ironically, despite the field of metal weapons lying everywhere, Adam looked over and grabbed the goblin's club. It was much more lightweight, complete with a string looped through it to allow the weapon to be strung on his back for easy carry.

Additionally, unlike the heavy metal weapons that plagued his surroundings, the Goblinoid's club also fit his size, allowing him to properly wield it as a bashing tool for his needs.

"Ah if only I had armo-" Adam began to lament but paused, immediately looking skyward, and hoping to not trigger another downpour of heavy metals.

When nothing occurred, Adam huffed, the tension visibly draining from his shoulders. Moving quickly and with purpose, Adam rifled through the gallery of weapons laid out before him. However, besides being heavy and made of iron, there was nothing of note or special about them like there had been with the golden longsword. Almost as if someone had mass produced these weapons, only to dump them all on top of Adam.

Picking up a short spear, Adam eyed the dead goblinoid and its bones jutting out of its green carcass before an idea struck him and he went in search of a dagger.

Eventually finding one in a tree, Adam managed to free it and took the dagger to the corpse, immediately cutting the body open and pilfering the still warm body for its bones. For most, this would have been a sickening act of desecrating a corpse, but for Adam, this was just a normal daily occurance. "Hmmm." Adam furrowed his brow, ripping off bits of his new found rags to tie the Goblinoid's fresh phalanges to his weapons, wrapping the hilts with cloth and binding the creature's finger bones to it.

Getting up, Adam walked away and pointed at the iron dagger he'd left behind, activating Animate Bone and designating the bone material as it intended receiptent.

[1/2 Animated Bones capacity]

Come here! Adam commanded, expending his mana. Immediately the weapon jolted, flying from the ground and nearly impaling Adam if not for his side stepping to avoid the weapon that hovered in the air where Adam once stood.

Ah I forgot how finicky these low level skills are. Come to my palm!

The floating weapon flew towards Adam, with the latter catching it in his palm with a now with a sinister look in his eye.

"Ehehehehehehe." Adam mused, his eyes turning crescent. Finally, after being hunted for hours on end, It was finally time for the hunted to become the hunter. Don't worry Schrodinger, I'll survive and find you. ***

After scurrying around the forest with renewed vigor, Adam spent some time scanning the area for life signs before getting an idea to climb a tree to search for smoke. It was getting late now, with the twin moons peeking above the horizon and the sun beginning to alter shadows in the forest, shrouding areas underneath the trees in near darkness. Oddly, despite not having night vision or any eye enhancing skill, Adam's eyesight was strangely unaffected by the changes in light, allowing him to see unimpeded.

Scanning the horizon, Adam searched for traces of activity. Having visited the goblin camp twice over and running into Goblinoids this far out, there was a chance they were based nearby. With only an hour and fifty minutes left, he'd need to find the camp and find it fast. Luckily, the gods seemed to be smiling down upon Adam as he spotted the reflective orange glow of flames not too far from him. ***

Elsewhere Same time. "Alright! We've got a camp going, what's for dinner?" Rochester asked, the dirty blonde rogue stretching as she laid down in the grass beside a middle-aged elf who was busy stirring a pot with a scowl.

"I don't know. Take a guess? Yesterday was stew, the day before that was stew, and the day before that one was also, hey! Wouldn't ya know it, stew." Locke quipped, the green-haired elf frowning as he lifted the ladle to take a taste test. "Ehk. Meat."

"And yet you still eat it." Hyde said, the spearman leaning over to inspect the bubbling orange goop.

"What? Do you expect me to starve?"

"You could just… eat around the meat, or ya know… eat the vegetables?" Rochester offered, gazing up at the sun that was beginning to set.

Locke scoffed. "So you want me to cook two meals instead of one?"

"We'll you're the one complaining. I'm just trying to make conversation."

"I'm also the one cooking, and if you don't want me to poison your meal you'll hush so I can concentrate."

"On what? Stirring?"

The old elf closed his eyes and sighed.

"Go feed the boars, one of you please. I can't deal with both of you pestering me at the same time." Locke said before his eyes narrowed to the sound of nearby rustling leaves. An enemy attack. A/N Remember to leave a rating or comment if u enjoy the work :3
