Chapter 22:

The transfer student

Mystery ghost foresight

Everyone gathered in a conference room as Kaemi decided to reveal her findings first.

"All the B-station officers died the exact same way. It appears as though something was implanted in their brains that ended up exploding and thus killing them. I wasn't able to recover the device, but considering all the officers were killed that way, it's fair to assume they all had a device implanted in them. It would also explain why they suddenly turned their weapons on us, they were under control."

"Then I assume they were killed to prevent an intel leak. I hate to admit it, but my search regarding Illumous didn't bring up any significant leads. There were some conspiracy theorists on the internet that seemed to be familiar with Illumous, but I'd prefer a more concrete source," Kintaro stated.

"I bet they're the ones that killed Nobuto," Fumiyo glared.

"Don't bring that incident up. We were nerely branded a corrupt institution because of your temper tantrum," Kintaro glared.

"I'm positive Ookuma's involved. Oh, and what about Namura?" Reiju asked.

"His head was smashed on a rock from the fall so no clue if he had a device in his brain or not," Kaemi sighed.

"No, I meant the message on his arm."

"It was just slashes. Nothing that looked like a code."

"Um, one of my fans was actually hiking down in the ravine and sent me this footage and picture," Chika nervously stated as she displayed the evidence Shiruka had collected.

"Oi, hold up! Why's there another namahage!?"

"It looks like he's destroying the evidence, but how could your fan get THIS close without being seen?" Kintaro asked.

"Um, he's into camo and studies invisibility," Chika nervously replied.

"I won't question your methods considering this footage looks real. As for the message, it appears like they're coordinates."

"Should I take these to-"

"No Kaemi, we shouldn't involve too many people in this. Even amongst the officers present during the incident, we should be careful about who we involve."

"Then why is our resident female pervert present?" Kaemi glared.

"Because I'd rather keep her close by rather then keep her in the dark. I'm sure you're aware of what she did with the author case."

"Wow, didn't think you'd hit on me. Sorry, Nobuto's the only guy I'll let-Mmph," Fumiyo pouted as kaemi annoyingly covered her mouth with her hand.

"Aside from her, I have no qualms about Reiju considering she's got the makings of a great detective, but are you sure about Chika?" Kaemi asked.

"I mean, I'm kinda stuck in this mess now, so I might as well see things to the end," Chika sighed.

"Her filming has proved to be a great help. It might also endanger her life if we just let her go off on her own," Kintaro argued.

"Fair point, though now what? Are you gonna research the coordinates?" Kaemi asked.

"Yes. I will contact you all if there is a new development. As of now, there is nothing more we can do."

                                                                                 ...

Reiju groaned as students crowded around her desk.

"Mad respect girl, you really dissed that crazy bitch," one student praised.

"How dare she suggest criminalizing anime and manga, anime and manga are life!" another stated.

"Seriously, who's even voting for those wackos? They outright want to turn this place into a dystopia, I mean, what the hell's wrong with matcha tea? It tastes great after a long voice session," another said as she sipped her matcha tea.

"Didn't expect the reception to be so positive. Heck, only that midget and one or two teachers really gave me nasty looks," Reiju thought as the teacher entered.

"Quiet down class! Today we have a new transfer student," the teacher stated.

"Wassup everyone! It's Chika the girl from everyone's favorite blogsite-"

"*AHEM*"

"Oh, um Chika Chihono, pleased to meet you," Chika sighed.

"Sit next to Ginkawa in the back at the empty desk, and put the camera away or I'll confiscate it."

"I didn't know you were in high school," Reiju whispered as Chika sat down.

"I didn't know you were either, I thought you were a university student," Chika whispered back.

                                                                               ...

At lunch, the two ate together as Chiinatsu approached them.

"Hey transfer! You're ass is in violation of the entire dress code," Chiinatsu glared.

"Shut it chibi, everyone knows transfer students sometimes wear their old uniforms until they get new ones," Reiju glared.

"Um, her hair and makeup too. We have a very strict anti-delinquent policy."

"People have blonde hair."

"She clearly bleached it blonde! Well then again you are a delinquent so I guess birds of a feather will get paddled together after school. Though why are you even here? I thought you got arrested last night on the news?"

"I was just escorted off the premises, and had to pay a lame fine."

"Must be nice to be rich and powerful, but money won't save you from MY discipline. As for you bleachy, return your hair to normal and wear proper uniform or I'll shave your head as a demonstration and have you wear a tracksuit,"Chiinatsu huffed as she stormed away.

"Don't worry about her, I can hold that shrimp back with one hand. Besides, I hear the disciplinary committee's in disarray after Hoshi got busted."

"Hoshi?" Chika asked.

"Oh right, guess I should tell you everything from the beginning..."
