Chapter 6:

Issue #6

Bio-Stream Volume 1

Martin got out of the car walking into the building of his family’s company looking a bit annoyed because of the fact he was called away from the journalist meeting and they were on the subject of that new vigilante and he wanted to learn more about the guy but he was called out. A woman with white hair and brown skin wearing a blue suit with a skirt with glasses on and her hair in a bun walked up to him. “Stacy, where’s father?” he asked putting his hands in his pockets as she showed him the way by leading him to the elevator as he followed behind. He was trying to figure out why did his father call him out of nowhere because usually, he would’ve called him a bit later than 7. Martin and Stacy entered the elevator. “Do you know what this is about?” he asked looking at her as she turned to look at him only to shake her saying no. Soon as the elevator came to a stop Martin and Stacy walked through the hallway as everyone looked respectful as Martin walked through the area.

They made it to the end of the hallway to a big room where Martin’s father was sitting in a chair at the end of the room near the large window. The room looked similar to a big conference room with a large roundtable. Matin’s father a man with blue hair that was slicked back and had on a hat and sunglasses with a gray suit on with a beard looked up to see his son. “Thank you Stay you’re dismissed,” he said as Stacy bowed her head and left the room as Martin turned his focus to his father Mister Parker. “Why did you call me here?” Martin asked sounding obviously annoyed by this point. Mister Parker turned his back in the seat. “Where were you this morning?” he asked in a calm but stern voice not happy with his son. Martin looked to the side sighing because somewhere deep in his mind he knew his father was gonna give him grief about something that he had no control over. “I’ll ask you again Martin. Where were you this morning?” Mister Parker asked now getting visibly angry.

Martin looked down rubbing his face before answering. “I was out,” he said in a defiant tone making Mister Parker turn back to face him and he just shook his head in disappointment because he also thought his son didn’t respect the business that he and his father built back in the day where they weren’t very wealthy men so he saw his son as a lazy person who took short cuts. Mister Parker wasn’t a fan of Martin’s work ethic either because he could Martin was preoccupied with other things that distracted him from running the business. “You were out yeah be out during an important meeting with our business partners who could easier buy us with their pocket change and you were out while I was trying to handle this meeting by myself. Martin, I swear sometimes I feel like I made a mistake handing you the company because you don’t take this seriously at all and I’m getting to be at the end of my rope,” Mister Parker explained taking a sip of his drink called Sake. Martin looked up closing his eyes nodding and got very angry because he absolutely hated when his father would scold him over something that he had no control over or something he didn’t care for. Martin in his own mind wasn’t the business type in fact he didn’t want this company he wanted to do his own things, especially seeing what the stress of business did to his father and his grandfather.

“I honestly don’t know what to tell you I wasn’t here for the damn meeting I was with Stacy because I been in this office all night dealing with paperwork that YOU should’ve been dealing with don’t get pissed with me you totally could’ve moved the meeting to next week so calm down,” Martin said snapping at his father. Mister Parker got up from his chair and walked over to him and looked at him for a moment and open-hand slapped him. Mister Parker never took disrespect from his kids but Martin always envied his sister Zoey because she left home at age 18 while he stayed stuck in Zone City learning to run the company. Martin just stormed out of the office slamming the door as Stacy listened in looking at Martin as he stormed through. She followed behind him because she was worried about him. Martin and Stacy have known each other since Middle School she had no direction in life until Martin told her that his father was trying to get him ready to run the company and she decided she wanted to work there to be closer to him which was a joy to him because he is there with a familiar face.

Martin went to the roof of the building where the wind was blowing as the sky was in its transition phase from day to night and he leaned on the rails sighing looking at the view of the city as Stacy came out there to see him. Martin rubbed his face as Stacy hugged him from behind as Martin eased up a bit. “So I guess you heard all of that huh?” he asked as Stacy looked down nodding a bit. Martin turned around. “Trust me don’t feel bad that you were listening he’s still trying to think about what’s best for business while I’m dealing with something that seems way more important than that silly meeting that I was supposed to be in,” Martin explained as Stacy looked at him with a curious look on her face. “What is it?” she asked standing beside him on the roof. “Not what but who,” he corrected as she slowly nodded. “Okay, who was it?” Stacy corrected herself. Martin looked at her. “Bio-Stream Warrior,” he said as her eyes got wide.
