Chapter 12:

Chapter 12: The Burning Moon

River Of Anew: Farming In Another World

As soon as the notification disappeared, a blinding light appeared before Foin's eyes; however, the blinding light dissipated, and a smaller object fell into his hands. It was a round object, and its diameter was about the size of Foin's thumb's nail. He was unable to decide what it could be, but he didn't even have much time to think as another blinding light appeared.

This time, it was a book seemingly plain book. Its cover was simply blue and was quite thin. It was more like a manual as it was short; on its cover, one could read its title with beautifully written golden characters: Perfect Breathing.

"What the..."

Reacted Foin as he looked at the two rewards he received. He didn't know what that tiny spherical object was, so he just put it down next to him; he was more interested in the book. With great curiosity, he opened it, looked at its first page and then flipped through its pages.

The book proved to be a hand-drawn picture book; it had barely any text in it, and on top of it, it was more like some kind of exercise book as the pictures depicted different kinds of movements. Each page appeared to show different sets of exercises, and they seemed harder and harder after each page.

The very first one only had some kind of hand movements. After a minute of thinking, Foin decided to try the instructions on the first page. So he put the book down and started following the instructions drawn in the book. It seemed more like arm stretching than any sort of exercise.

Since he didn't feel any special effect right away, Foin quickly repeated the movements a few more times. And since, even after that, he felt nothing; he only sighed.

"Well... it really seems like just some kind of arm-stretching... I will do it a few more times, and then I hope the system will do something or at least SOMETHING will happen... It was given by the system, so it must be something useful... I hope."

He repeated the same movement over and over again, but no new window popped up, nor did he feel anything else, so he gave up. Only then did he finally look at the small object which came before the book. He stared at the tiny object and inspected it from multiple sides.

He couldn't decide what it was; at first, he believed that it was truly a random reward and that he was just given a random piece of stone. But then he noticed that although it had a stone-like texture, it was somewhat soft, and it also had some kind of scent, a scent which he had never smelled before.

The sun was just about to go down at that time, and in the flickering light of the still-burning fire, he kept inspecting that reward. Once the sun finally disappeared behind the horizon, Foin took a deep breath and then did the only thing which came to his mind.

All he could think of was that this reward was some kind of seed, so he quickly dug a hole and put his reward into it. Just to be sure that he wouldn't lose it, he put a piece of stone next to it, and only then did he cover it with dirt. The stone was clearly visible, so he could find it easily.

He didn't receive any notification, and for a second, he was about to dig up the reward, but then he remembered that the first time he had planted the other seeds, it took a night for him to receive the notification, so the best thing he could do was wait and sleep. However, he was not yet tired. Instead, he put a few more smaller sticks onto the fire and sat beside it.

He looked up at the dark, clear sky while he was waiting for the sticks to start burning so that he could have a better vision of the surrounding area. The sky was beautiful. It was full of tiny stars. Some were red, purple, and even green ones were visible. However, no matter how he looked around, he couldn't see the moon, that is, even if this new world had one.

"I wonder how things are going in my original world... It has already been a few days... Now that I think about it... What could have happened there? Was I declared a missing person? Hm... Well... I do know that my current life is great. Farming and doing some fun things every day is better than studying and working..."

He sighed as he slowly lowered his gaze to the fire. For quite some time, he glared at it, but soon a greenish light hit his eyes. He looked up at the sky, and a massive, presumably moon, slowly emerged into the night sky. It had such a powerful glow that it lit up everything.

"Wow... It looks so cool... How come I have never woken up when this level of light was being produced? Wait..."

Suddenly, the fire in front of him turned green as well, and if that was not enough, he felt great heat; however, it was not emanating from the fire but from the moon. It was almost as if it was a second sun. He could feel that as the green light touched his skin, it was slightly burning, almost as if it was on a scorching summer day.

However, after a few minutes, he got used to this new sensation, and he no longer felt that strange burning sensation. However, he was still quite shocked, as the temperature was not that high; it was just perfectly fine: not too hot, not too cold, just perfect. So he scratched his head and then went over to his dryer pile of grass, and then got ready to sleep.

In the beginning, the green light bothered him as even as he closed his eyes, he saw it, but then he gradually got used to it, and after about half an hour, he finally managed to fall asleep.
