Chapter 14:

One's Knowledge

Tales of Eden

Every book has a story—tales with heroes challenging the great unknown. The great unknown might be dragons, villains, or maybe even gods.

Each tale brings something new to the table. All giving way to a new emotion in the reader.

Moon leaves the elevator with Astro. The area is a door connected to a dimly lit hallway.

After walking through the hallway, Moon looks at the door. Astro says "I feel the strong energy behind that door.

Moon opens it. A strong gust of wind hits his body.

Astro says "Be on your guard."

Moon heeds her words carefully. Moon moves in silence but fast since the situation is tense.

He sees a man turned around and in a lab coat. This man had spikey black hair and was fairly taller than Moon.

Moon looked at the man and asked "Who are you?"

The man turned around.

As the man turned around, Moon noticed the giant structure behind him. Behind the man was a portal.

Moon instantly felt something powerful was behind, just waiting to be let in.

The man fully turned around, and some of his hair even fell to his bright red eyes. His eyes were lifeless but seemed to hold a lot.

The man says "You made it."

Moon thought "His voice sounds very familiar. The deadness, the tone, and the lack of care."

Astro says "It doesn't matter who he is! Focus on the mission."

Moon ran to the portal and pulled a switch. The man just watches Moon mess around.

The man says "Knowledge is power. Fooling around won't make it better."

Moon thinks "Why does he seem so much like a zombie? I still feel like I know him."

Moon keeps pulling the switch repeatedly. The switch handle breaks. He yells out of frustration "Fuck!"

The portal responds to this and symbols appear.

The man reads "Offer the wonderous, but not the curious. Only the hero."

Moon can't understand anything. He says "This crazy shit."

The man waves his hand and a book appears.

Moon says "O look he has powers too."

Soon after, the man takes a pen from his pocket and writes the sentence "Take 3.7 liters of H2O. NO.2"

A puddle of water leaves Moon's body. He watches as his fluids leave his own body.

He moves to the water leaving him. Trying to keep himself from being dehydrated.

He says "I will fight every person with powers."

The man says "That is not very logical."

Moon says "Shut the hell up! Your voice annoys me."

The man says "I am the one who ..." His voice stops and words float in the air.

Moon reads the words "Stopped the illogical."

The water flows back into Moon and his clothes are completely soaked.

The man writes in his book "Dry cloth. No.2"

Moon's clothes start to dry.

The man says "I will take a more logical approach. Moon, I would like to offer you a deal."

Moon says "What is it?"

The man explains "The gods offer a sacrifice."

Moon says "Offer yourself."

The man says "The gods said they wanted you. As written on the gateway."

Moon says "To hell with that. Plus, why would I help some gods?"

The man says "I, Knowledge, live for science and god wills the advancement. You dare hinder research!" The veins in his neck begin to pop out of his neck. He seeps with rage.

Moon flicks him off and says "The gods never gave me shit! Fuck you and them!"

The portal begins to crack. Pieces of the portal touch the ground and some rise to the ceiling instead. These pieces make two more portals causing the building to shake.

Both Knowledge and Moon both fall to the ground because of the pressure.

The portal on the ground turns crimson red. The one on the ceiling is bright gold. The original portal turns orange.

A hard laughter could be heard coming from the crimson portal.

Moon yells "Shut the hell up!"

This stops the building from shaking but no the laughter.

The gold portal shines and the laughter stops.

The crimson portal says "What a buzz kill. Anyway, how's the party so far Moon?"

Moon stands up and says "What do you want and how do you know me?"

The crimson portal laughs and then says "I'm the King of Hell, how would I not know someone who has sinned?" These words echo in Moon's head as something he tries to forget tries to come back to reach the surface.
