Chapter 61:

Power

Hacker Class

The smell of blood was putrid. With it, came the nauseating fetor of rotten flesh. The smell was thick in the air, and it pushed him close to throw up. His white hair covered his face, as he emptied his contents, and he did not care that he was alone on the battlefield."Get up, boy!" A voice filled his ears, he looked up to see that standing before him, was a man with long black hair. His piercingly black eyes sharply cut into the boy, making him jolt up like he had been poked with a needle. "S-sorry brother!" His brother looked him over, suddenly, for an instant, the stern look dissapeared. "Be strong, Aerith. Your immense talent has granted you the honor of dying here amongst us men. Do not dishonor us." The boy heard his brothers voice loud and clear, though it was nearly drowned by the cacophony of the battlefield. He watched his brother carefully, more carefully than he'd ever done. He regarded his green eyes, that alway held a stern look within them. He wondered why, but he never before noticed the exhaustion that lay deep within them.He went on to look at his tall, intimidating figure and his black hair fell upon his shoulder like a waterfall of ink. Among the black was grey, a proof of his incessant worrying. He spoke, trying to deliver all of his turbulent emotions as carefully as he could. "I will honor you brother," he said with as much bravery as he could muster. "I will honor you all." Then he saw something he'd never seen before, a luminous smile appeared on his brothers face. It filled his bosom with a foreign warmth. His brother didn't say a word. He didn't have to. His brother spun around, and charged straight into the thick of battle. The boy just stood there, dumbfounded, as his most sincere companion ran to his death.

Alden walked deeper into the field, searching the distance for some form of life. He patiently waited for the army to arrive, and it was all he could do. It would be good to find a strategic position but based on the information that Shadow had given him, there was no hill or mountain nearby. The deeper he ventured into the woods, the drier the trees grew, until there were no more trees. The short dry grass no longer appeared, not even in patches. The number of skeletons found grew, however. Soon the terrain has changed, and there were small hills and plateaus. These were located very sparsely on the land, and luckily Isaac did not find them obstructing his view. These hills were just a nuisance as they were too small to utilize to his advantage and they just made walking more difficult. "Alden, I think they're here." Prince muttered to Alden. Sure enough, far over the horizon, dust could be seen rising, hiding whatever hid within it. "Hey prince," Alden asked, his eyes never leaving the horizon. "Yeah?" he nearly whimpered. "Sarah Foster killed more than a thousand Doom lizards, right?" "yeah, but she's not here." "Well, I am." Alden walked away, feeling ridiculously cool after his statement. However, it was true that he could handle the large number of enemies, since his strength was close to Sarah. He didn't think he was stronger than her, though. She was still above him in skill, experience and technique. He was better than her on raw power, however. "Now..." Alden contemplated whether or not to use his swordstaff. "Nahhh." he decided against it. Alden took a deep breath, and blue energy began snaking around him. This was something Mar Kirr had thought him, by activating his moon energy, he could enhance his physical capabilities. It was like flipping a switch. He awakened the energy that lay within every cell in his body, and his strength would be amplified. If he had to measure it, his strength increased by a threefold, maybe. That was the minimum. The energy surrounded him like a flame, and it's brilliant light lit up the dark world.By now the enemy was visible, some of them riding fierce unicorns, with manes that were literal flames. There were behemothic oxen that had curved horns and flamy manes. There were also mounts like giant lions, bears and wolves, all if them uniquely different from normal animals. One or two even rode rhinos that had silver-bluish horns. Amongst them all, the most noticeable mount was a giant crocodile-like creature. The ones riding the beasts were inhumanely colassal men. Their skin was blue, and many if them had the sides of their head shaved, while the rest of their hair was plaited, with rings being worn in the hair. The men were muscular, with a build that earth's bodybuilders could only dream of having. In their hands, were curved sickle like swords. "Imagine controlling all that..." Alden began to feel imaginations fill his head. "Alright, I'm getting even more impatient!" Alden dashed forth, his figure turning into a blur. In less than a split second, he had cleared the distance to the army. A man roared at him, and tried to swing their swords at him. He caught it with his bare hand, and he swung his other arm. He sent the wolf that the man rode crashing into other mounts, causing chaos. [TROLL HYBRID ELIMINATED! ] "Oh, so these are trolls..." Thought Alden. He decided to get serious, otherwise, he'd stay there all day. Not, holding back, he tore through space. He swung his fist, and it crashed into a rhino. A giant sonic wave formed from the sheer force, and dozens of creatures were blown away. Alden stuck out his hand, and immediately a blue energy flowed through the army, until it surrounded at least a few hundred trolls. Alden lifted his hand up, before pushing downward. The creatures lifted into the air, before crashing into the ground at a breathtaking speed. BOOM! Cracks spread throughout the field, and the ground shook. Alden held out his left hand, and pushed out. Angry flames charged from his hand, swallowing plenty more creatures in it. Notifications kept popping up for Alden, and he just ignored them. The trolls jumped down their mounts and charged at him, and he entertained them.A troll swung it's blade. He ducked, and threw a punch. It shot backwards like an arrow out of a bow. Another swung, and with imperceptible speed, another duck. A lightning quick punch. The troll was blown away. Like a main character in some old Chinese martial arts film, he was simply untouchable, his physical combat unmatched. He could barely be seen, as he maneuvered his way through the battle field. As time passed, more and more Troll bodies began to pile up. Alden rose into the air using his gravity manipulation, and decided to end it all. He spread out his arms, and once again, his brilliant blue energy crept amongst the enemies. It was like a flame, in a dry forest. It kept jumping from target to target, spreading far too easily. Soon, only a blue light filled the battle field, the monsters down below found themselves unable to move, and they evidently grew panicked. Alden again, raised his hands. He pushed downward. Quite eerily, the monsters rose several feet above the ground. Thereafter they were sent into the ground, each and ever one of them dying from the impact. However, there was one Alden hadn't killed. The colassal reptile. He summoned his swordstaff, and threw it at the creature. His blade flashed through the air, and it was like a comet. In a single, rapid movement, it had tore through the creatures thick scales. Soon, all of the notifications stopped. He had leveled up a few times, though he didn't care so much. His progression lay in a new pathway. Alden flew to the ground, and as he landed, his knees only slightly bent from the impact. "Superhero landing... Done" he said making a mental note. Alden cast a heavy gaze over the corpse ridden land. He had done all this. This was why power was terrifying in the wrong hands. That was why he needed to make sure it didn't fall in the wrong hands, and he could do that by becoming the strongest. Being the strongest meant, in equivalence to him, nobody would have power. One person having more power disposseses another of it. He'd claim power for himself. Then, he'd fix this messed up world. He would no longer fear being opressed by the strong. He would be at the top of the food chain. He spoke, his icy voice casting a chill over the warzone. "Converge."
