Chapter 9:
Will you give this cute tsundere love?
We arrived at the corn maze at 11:30 PM. Since Nina was still in her succubus costume, I decided to wear the outfit that went with my pumpkin mask, the headless horseman's outfit. Now I looked much more menacing.
"It's so cold! All these creepy effects only make the cold worse," Nina shivered.
It was quite obvious she was terrified of the spooky maze. Well, I couldn't blame her. Since it was Halloween, staff from the farm were hidden within the maze ready to jump out and scare people.
"Alright, now I'm sure you've all reviewed the ground rules, but the one I need to reiterate since I see a few burly guys here is NO attacking the staff! We're trying to scare you, and would appreciate if we don't have to fear getting socked to next week," the attendent stated.
Nina nearly hopped on me as she closely clung to me while we entered the maze.
"You do have a map for this right?" Nina asked.
"Sadly they don't give out maps," I replied.
"Oh..."
We eventually arrived at the first scarepoint. A scarecrow leapt out of the corn, eliciting a jump from me and a scream from Nina. Oddly enough, he seemed to retreat in a disappointed manner. I wonder if it's because he could only witness my reaction, which wasn't very noticeable considering I was still wearing the pumpkin mask.
"I WANNA LEAVE!" Nina cried.
"Are you sure you don't want to-"
"I'M TOO SCARED TO WANT TO COMPLETE IT!"
I decided it was best to turn back, except, the fog machine made it difficult to tell which way we came.
"Uh, why are you acting like you can't tell which way to go?" Nina nervously asked.
"The fog's messing with me," I replied.
We continued onward in an attempt to exit, but only wound up further inward. At least I could kind of see the exit from the vantage point, but it was clear we were in the center of the maze. At least we'd been avoiding the scare points.
Suddenly, a scarecrow with a fake chainsaw suddenly jumped out and began running towards us. Nina leapt into my arms and accidentally spun my mask around so it's face was facing behind me. I then heard the sound of the prop dropping as the staff member ran away in terror.
"REAL GHOST! REAL GHOST!" he shouted.
After straightening my mask, I looked at Nina.
"Look's like you did the spooking," I chuckled.
"Hmm? All I did was accidentally spin your mask around- Heh heh heh! Time to take revenge on these spooks! I've changed my mind, we're going to the end of the maze!" Nina maliciously smiled.
Nina then took advantage of the fact others couldn't see her to make my mask spin around as if it was my real head. All the staff and anyone we came across were spooked.
When we exited the maze, the guy from the start angrily glared at us.
"What's wrong with you man!? WE'RE the ones that do the scaring, not you!" he snarled.
Nina angrily grabbed a stalk of corn and waved it in the air.
"Huh- HUH!? You- Your arms aren't moving. There's no one else around, so why is that corn stalk-"
Nina swung the stalk inches away from the guy's face.
"REAL GHOST! THEY WEREN'T LYING! AHHHHH!"
Nina smugly dropped the stalk as the staffer ran off in terror.
"Might have overdone it a bit. I don't want to get in trouble for this," I sighed.
"Well then let's head back before anyone finds out," Nina smirked.
...
The next morning, reports of a spooky specter roaming the cornfields made the news.
"Farmhands claims pumpkin head ghost roams cornfield," I read.
I was glad I wore the full headless horseman costume to the maze instead of just the mask like for the trick or treaters.
"Guess you were more of a trickster this Halloween," I smiled at Nina.
"And you were the treat," Nina smiled back.
"I still have some leftover candy. Want some?" I asked.
Nina's lit up face and smile told me the answer was yes. I really do love this cute tsundere.
