Chapter 4:

Torture

Path of Blood

When Drago woke up, he was gagged and tied to a chair in a small, dark room with an iron door and no windows. The walls were covered in dried blood and there was a table with a cloth on top if it close to him. When he looked around he saw Leo in another chair, unconscious. He tried screaming to Leo, but the sound that came out of his gag was muffled and not enough to wake Leo up. He looked down at his wound from the arrow which he had received earlier, but strangely, it had disappeared as it if hadn't existed.

Suddenly, the large iron door opened, and the bald man from earlier walked in. Drago had quickly dropped his head down to act like he was asleep right as the door opened.

"Acting asleep, are you?" Said the man. He walked towards Drago and took the gag off his mouth.

Drago didn't budge.

"You know, when I was your age, a similar thing happened. I got into trouble with somebody, and they did to me what I'm about to do to you now. After that, unlike what you might think, I felt strangely free. Like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I didn't fear pain anymore. And neither will you."

When the man lifted the cloth off the table, there was a sudden flash of light as a white spinning cube shot out and floated in the air.

"This is a Guille. Basically a complex torture device that's proved to be the most effective in obtaining information time and time again for the past decade. In fact, the one I have now is the older model of what's currently being used by torturers in the kingdom. It cost a fortune to get. But it's price is justified, do you know why?"

Drago didn't respond.

"ANSWER ME!" The man shouted in a hellish voice.

Startled, Draco lifted his head up, tears streaming out of his eyes.

"I-I don't know! Please let us go. We swear you'll never see us again." Pleaded Drago.

The man ignored Drago's pleas as he continued.

"Because you know that man you killed? The cost of this device is nowhere near the money we would've gotten from him in his lifetime."

Drago was weeping heavily, trembling with fear.

"P-please let us go..."

"You see, that's exactly why I can't. If I let you go, the people will find out. And if they do, they'll start doing the same thing in numbers. They'll lose their fear for us! And that's what we want to avoid. Because you see-"

The man leaned in close to Drago, continuing just inches from his face. Drago would never forget the words he uttered next:

"Fear is our currency, Drago."

Suddenly, Leo leapt forward from his chair, breaking it's frame as he lunged towards the man. With a thud he brought the man down, but on the ground, the man regained control by smashing his fist into Leo's head, causing Leo to scream at the top of his lungs, muffled by the gag.

"You'll never learn, will you? Shockwave Spell: Initiate!"

Activating just inches from his head, Leo was thrown towards the opposite wall in the shockwave, his bright red blood splattering all over the wall.
The man got up and charged towards Leo, jabbing his elbow into Leo's guts. Leo squirmed as the man proceeded to swing the elbow upwards towards Leo's chin, shattering his front teeth.

"No! NO!" Screamed Drago, trying his best to wriggle out of the chair.

As Leo's blood spurted all over the man's face, the man smiled, licking the blood of his lips.

"Now it's time to teach you how to behave," muttered the man as he put one hand on Leo's forehead and wrapped the other around his body to hold him in place.

"Shockwave Spell: Initiate."

With a loud thud, Leo's head bore the full brunt of the shockwave, his body being held in place.

"Shockwave Spell: Initiate."

THUD.

"Shockwave Spell: Initiate."

THUD.

"Shockwave Spell: Initiate."

THUD.

"Shockwave Spell: Initiate!"

THUD!

Leo's head was now split open, his brain leaking out of the large gaping opening in his forehead. His skull had broken into pieces and the sharp ones were now jutting out of his skin. His eyeballs were hanging outside their cavities and his jaw was vertically lodged in his left cheek.

Yet he was barely alive, only because the man wanted him to be.

Drago was screaming in the corner of room, covered in some of the blood that had been flung towards him. The man turned towards him, with a now crazy smile on his face.

"It's your turn now, Drago. But you're special, unlike him. You'll get the Guille~"

Drago's tried his best to wriggle out of the chair, his wrists bleeding from the friction of the ropes that were binding him. He screamed at the man as he approached closer.

"NO! NOO!"

"Don't worry, Drago. You're just afraid! Once this is over, you won't be anymore."

The man took the floating cube and covered it with both his hands. Once it was covered, the cube started to shrink. When it was about the size of a tablet, the man placed a hand on Drago's mouth.

"Open wide, Drago."

Drago tried to close his mouth, shaking his head, but-
CRACK!
The man broke Drago's lower jaw, using his palm as leverage between Drago's teeth. Drago split out blood, screaming in pain as the man forced the cube down Drago's throat.

"Swallow."

Drago obeyed, feeling the sharp corners of the cube tear up his oesophagus as it made it's way into his stomach.
The man quickly put his hands around Drago's stomach, as if shrinking the cube even more. Then he paused.

"This is gonna hurt."

The man removed his hands from Drago's stomach, causing the cube to increase in size rapidly inside Drago's organs. With a loud squelch it started to spin, churning Drago's insides like a blender.

Drago felt the excruciating pain for only a moment before blacking out.
