Chapter 30:

Cosplay caper (1)

Mystery ghost foresight

"So why are we here at a convention center?" Kaemi growled.

"Why are you asking that? You dressed up after all," Reiju grumbled.

"More like you two hust slapped this dumb cone head wig on me."

Since Fumiyo had been invited to be a guest at the 2007 Tokyo international anime fair, she had been given a free ticket to give to someone. After offering to give it to Reiju, Reiju refused and insisted she give it to someone else like Chika or Kaemi since she could easily pay for her own ticket. Fumiyo agreed and gave it to Kaemi while Reiju paid for hers and Chika's tickets. Once the three were committed to going, they decided to do cosplay per Chika's suggestion. Chika had the most extravagant costume by far as she was cosplaying as one of the girls from the hit anime Magic girl dystopia rhapsody. Reiju wasn't too far behind though with her cosplay of one of the female characters from Airsona 3. As for Kaemi, the two had just slapped a cone head wig on her and gave her some thicker glasses since she refused to cosplay.

"Why the cone head wig!? Now I look like some crazy hag scientist!" Kaemi moaned.

"Well you are a cop, so if people recognized you, things might get hairy, especially after the previous case," Reiju countered.

"Ugh, I forgot I was on the news."

"Hey, how ya doin?" a voice asked.

The three turned to see a large group led by a guy cosplaying as American comedian, Ray Greno. Other members of the group were dressed as Annie from star doors, the purple one from Yowie hunt, Zollum from Yowie hunt, and Natto in a cow costume from the Star doors holiday special.

"Eh suck the milk from the utters, eh," Natto stated as he danced around like an idiot.

"Ugh, why the hell do I have to put up with this bullshit?" the girl dressed as Annie grumbled.

"Oh hey guys, you here for the panel? It's this way," a man with silver hair wearing a red jacket stated.

"NO WAY IT'S BEANS!" Chika shouted as she and the group rushed towards the venue for the panel.

Reiju and Kaemi groaned as they followed.

                                                                            ...

After sitting down, Reiju gazed up at everyone present at the Yowie Hunt panel. The main stars of seasons 1 and 3: Mamoru Daigoro and Ami Shizumi, respectively, Beans: one of the special guests that was in seasons 1 and 3, the head of the company that owned the Yowie Hunt IP and Shiruka's former editor: the editor, the big man himself: Drop Bear Dumbee aka Niles Thorndyke, and Fumiyo along with a cardboard cut out of Shiruka all sat on the stage. As for the real Shiruka, he was floating around on the stage, glaring menacingly at Niles.

"We will now begin the panel," the host stated.

Things were pretty uneventful. The cast joked and answered questions, and even invited some audience members like the group from before, onto the stage briefly.

"Eh, you like the Yowie, huh? well suck the milk of Natto!" Natto said as Ray Greno began sucking on the utters of Natto's cow suit.

"Dante sez this bit ez shit!" Beans said in his funni voice.

"Eh Annie, I'm on tv! Come on stage and drink the milk. Nice and warm, eh."

"I'm disowning you," the girl dressed as Annie growled as she stormed out of the venue.

"Eh, come back stage for the photo!" the purple one called out.

Annie responded with a middle finger salute as the group began to head backstage. Once they were gone, Fumiyo decided to pull a stunt.

"Ya know, I hear the original writer of this show, my beloved Nobuto, was supposedly going to call us from the beyond to answer some questions," Fumiyo giggled as she turned towards Shiruka's general direction.

"Huh!?" everyone gasped, Shiruka especially.

"Aha ha ha! You got da best jokes my ultra mega sexy queen queen, Fumiyo," Ami crazily laughed as she began bowing with her hands outstretched.

Ami Shizumi had previously been one the most popular, and snobby actresses in the industry. However, Yowie Hunt completely broke her and she ended up going crazy and dating Fumiyo.

"You know I'm not joking girlfriend," Fumiyo cooed as she stroked Ami's hairless head and pulled her headband that had been covering one of her eyes over her other eye as well.

"Let's sex here!" Ami cried out as she attempted to strip.

Much to many of the male attendee's displeasure, security dragged her off before she could strip.

"I feel bad for that woman. Sure she was kinda a snob, but the poor girl didn't deserve to be THAT broken by Fumiyo," Kaemi sighed.

"What exactly happened?" asked Reiju.

"Fumiyo got to write season 3 which she starred in and put her through the erotic wringer. Poor girl even got stripped, shaved, and forced to listen to a diss track from the Frenchman while it happened," Chika explained.

"Oh right, you're the expert on this. Since Ghost seems to be a little busy, mind giving me the lore?"

"Weren't you paying attention to the panel!?"

"No."

"*Sigh* Yowie hunt was Shiruka- er well I guess he's Obake-kun now's legacy work. Since Grouping of Ghosts was completely finished before Yowie Hunt, but fully published after it aired, there's some debate on whether it's truly Obake-kun's last work. Espeacially when you factor in that he also helped with Fumiyo's Gettin yaoi with the Yowie. Anyway, Yowie Hunt originally came to be after Obake-kun was crunched by his editor to write a TV drama starring hot actor, Mamoru Daigoro. Obake-kun did so, but forced Daigoro-kun to dress in an ugly kangaroo suit and make him do crazy things, all to get back at his boss. Critics initially panned the work, but upon learning more about the nuances and context of it all, began to hail it as a "so bad it's good" cult classic. Praise for season 1 only grew after... season 2. Season 3 returned to the roots of the series, but was criticized a bit for the excessive ecchi scenes, which was to be expected with Fumiyo writing the season."

"For the record, I suggested forcing a beautiful female actress to shave all her hair off if my greedy former editor decided to do another season, but I certainly didn't suggest all the erotic things that befell Maddie that Fumiyo was so insistent on," Shiruka argued as he floated up towards Chika.

"How'd ya suggest it if you were dead?" Reiju asked.

"I wrote an entire script for the season before I died. Though Fumiyo modified it to make it more erotic and ecchi. Still I'll give her credit for remaining about 89% faithful to the original script."

"And what about season 2?"

"We don't talk about that one Rei," Chika glared.

"Yes, though it's sadly the reason season 3 came to be. See I naturally decided to look up how people were talking about my works online. The internet has gotten so much better in 7 years. Anyway, when I watched season 2, I truly was disgusted by how horribly my work was bastardized. I can understand why Fumiyo decided to bring light to the sequel season scripts I never truly wanted to go public. If you want to see how bad- Oh, Fumiyo's trying to continue her stunt. Well, might as well see if it works. I'd love to clear my name and expose Niles," Shiruka grinned as he dialed Fumiyo's number.

"Wow, you know her number?" Reiju snickered.

"Sadly. She was my former assistant after all."

On stage, Fumiyo blushed as she received a call.

"Guys! It's Nobuto!" she blushed as she answered.

"Hello, fuck season 2," Shiruka's voice said from Fumiyo's phone.

"Guess I'll have ta kiss a capybarra to appease the ghost," Niles laughed in Dumbee mode as he picked up a capybarra puppet drenched in vegemite and french kissed it.

"Yall just lost 2002 brain cells bitch!" Fumiyo played along.

"So, anyone got questions?" Shiruka asked.

Reiju decided to throw him a bone.

"How'd ya die? Heard you fucked up a dumb juggling act," Reiju flatly shouted.

"Nah, I can juggle knives just fine, thank you. Though Dumbee-"

Sudden;y the lights went off.

"Shit, the call ended does-"

Before Shiruka could complete his thought, Niles had slashed a knife through his neck.

"*Tch* Guess you're already dead," Niles grumbled as he leapt back on stage.

"Wait, he can see me!?" That's bad. I-"

Suddenly, the lights came back on. Reiju, Kaemi and Chika were fine, but someone else was not.

Up in the rafters of the stage above where Dumbee had been sitting, Natto was hung.

"Must be the- Oh, guess I forgot I got a vision for this. Sadly it looks like me clearing my name and exposing Niles will have to wait," Shiruka sighed.
