Chapter 47:

Shiori's reminiscence

Spice of Life

Madoka happily devoured all the crepes as Harumi's motorcade pulled up in front of Shiori's place.

"You're coming with me, Madoka," Harumi angrily smiled as she hoisted a protesting Madoka in her arms.

Two servants carried Rika as they followed Harumi to Shiori's basement clinic. Once they reached the door, a nervous Shiori opened it.

"Nearly gave me a heart attack when all your sedans pulled up. Thought a raid force was after me. Still not gonna go to the mansion," Shiori grumbled as she let everyone in.

"I'm merely here to thank you for curing Mimi, and to cover the medical fees for this woman that was injured trying to save my daughter," Harumi stated.

"Oh, you have connections with Mimi?"

"She's a distant relative. Has Ginkawa blood in her though."

"Oh, then that explains her fast recovery. I take it that means you'll be covering her fees then?"

"Shrewd one, but since she is part of the Ginkawa family, it is the least I can do. I'm already having a new official ID made for her as we speak."

"Huh. So what's wrong with this idiot?" Shiori glared at Rika as the servants placed her down on one of the examination chairs.

"I got slashed in the stomach," Rika mumbled in embarrassment.

"And your hand is STILL not fully healed either!"

"It felt fine. I was able to do a bunch of cook-MMPH!?"

Shirori sewed Rika's mouth shut in frustration as she began examining her stomach.

"I swear, I'm going to imprison you in a body cast to keep you from moving until your healed," Shiroi grumbled as she sowed up Rika's stomach.

"Mmph ngh mmph ngh mmph," Rika grumbled.

"I don't care. You're staying wrapped up for a week!"

"So is this the vat Mimi was frozen in?" Harumi asked as she gazed at the empty container Mimi had been brought to Shiori in.

"Yes, Rika brought Mimi to me in that. The code was a bit of a pain, but once I cracked it, I sewed Mimi back together in minutes."

"I'm truly impressed with how far you've come so quickly."

"It just came naturally. I know how to sew shit really well."

"Mmmph ngh mmph," Rika smirked.

"And that's another reason why I sewed your mouth shut. So you don't make embarrassing snides about my past!"

"I'm already well aware of your history though," Harumi interjected.

"I don't know though!" Madoka pouted.

"And I don't want you to. You'll blab it out," Shiori glared.

"WOULD NOT!"

"Ugh, since I know how bratty you can be, I'll just tell you so you don't bother me. I did crocheting and knitting."

"___. That's it? I thought your secret would be more embarrassing."

"It IS EMBARRASSING!" Shiori angrily blushed.

"Madoka, Shiori's a bit self conscious. Don't tease her. Especially not when your already in trouble for causing Miss Komachi harm," Harumi glared.

"She's the one that got in MY way! I'm the one that got a slash cause of her!" Madoka pouted.

"So that's what happened. Well, considering I don't see any wounds, I'm assuming she already chugged a storeful of milk. As for you Rika, seems you know nothing about Madoka Ginkawa, so why don't Miss Ginkawa tell you about her while I bandage you up," Shiori glared at Rika.

                                                                           ...

Once everyone was gone, Shiori sat down and let out an exhausted sigh.

"I never wanted to be a doctor, but this is just how this shit turned out," Shiori grumbled as she began to remissness.

A young Shiori somberly glared at the empty apartment she came home to.

"12 days, and I'm already getting used to it. Guess I'm heartless," Shiori sighed as she slumped down on the couch.

It had been 12 days since her parents had been murdered and life was still hard on Shiori. The scar she had received on the right side of her face was likely to stay with her her whole life. Shiori sighed and began sewing a beanie for herself. She had never been this depressed before. She had always had a gloomy, but secretly girly demeanor, but the murder of her parents completely changed things.

"Damn that normie ass fuck that killed them! It's not just me that gets messed up, but now all their patients that were relying on them are now facing a death sentence. That fucker! Gave me this damn scar and nearly killed me. All for witnessing him kill!? Piece of fucking shit!" Shiori fumed as tears began to pour out of her eyes.

A knock at the door put Shiori on guard as she immediately grabbed a gun hidden in the sofa before approaching the door. She stood on a stool and gazed through the peephole to spot Harumi and her bodyguards outside. She returned her gun to its hiding place and opened the door.

                                                                             ...

"Shiori-chan, will you consider going to medical school?" Harumi asked.

"Why? So I can be a replacement for my folks? Is that all I am!?" Shirori shouted.

"They were extremely talented. They revolutionized medicine and-"

"So!? I don't feel like it! I hate normies! I hate em! Normie assess don't know how to do jack shit for themselves and just reek of stupid! I ain't gonna be stuck runnin some place where I have to slap bandages on their assess for every dumb thing they do in their normie life! That... that was THEIR job," Shiori tearfully ranted.

"Your thread work talent is extraordinary though. You could become a world class surgeon."

"I don't wanna. I don't wanna. That world's too light for me."

"So you're more attracted to the underworld then?"

"___. I mean, my folks didn't care if the patient was normie or not, they had the money, they got service. But me, I don't mesh with normies. Just don't get em."

"Then how about a proposition?"

"Not going to work at your mansion!"

"Since you have some desire to learn medicine, how about I fund your development?"

"Huh? But don't you want a doc that serves normies?"

"And what's "normie" about me?"

"Never said you were normie, hell you're pretty anti-normie with all that daredevil crap you did back in the day."

"And I'm probably going to do more. Now that my family issues are taken care of, I can leave the mansion more freely. Speaking of which, I'll be skateboarding on a tightrope over the Grand Canyon in two weeks. So if I need a doctor, I'd appreciate if you had some medical expertise."

"Don't you have an army of skilled private doctors and an arsenal of milk?"

"Yes, but I'm trying to convince you take my offer."

"But what's the catch?"

"Well, you become a surgeon capable of sewing internal organs that have been sliced in the crudest of ways back together. You can even do it as an underworld doctor for all I care."

"If I become an underworld doc, I might end up healin some of your foes."

"A loss I'm willing to chance, though I'll just compensate by ensuring we eliminate all our foes that cross our path. As for your parent's patients, the Ginkawa medical corps will handle them. It will help me out just as much due to the good press it will generate."

"You're a shrewd woman. *Sigh* I guess I might as well learn how to kill people with strings. Always wanted to."

Back in the present...

Shiori let out a sigh as she began to recline in her chair.

"Well, I made due on my promise, now leave me be. I wanna rest. My sleep schedule's been fucked ever since the hotel," Shiori mumbled.

She attempted to fall asleep, but couldn't and snuck over to her fridge and grabbed some ice cream pudding she had been storing. Her girly personality bubbled to the surface as she ate and moaned in bliss.

                                                                         ...

Rika glared as she was dropped off back at the restaurant restrained in a body cast and wheelchair. Itsuki then nervously read the note Shiori had stuck on Rika's head.

"Patient's stomach: fixed. 1 week to heal. Hand: needs 3 more days to heal. Mouth: sewn shut to keep her from protesting. Can fit a straw in so she can drink. To staff: Keep patient like this until she is healed. I'm tired of her not listening to me!"

"MMPH!" Rika angrily glared as almost everyone began to laugh.

"Hey, you should've listened to the doc," Waki giggled as she grabbed a marker and began drawing on Rika's cast.

"Must you always be so reckless?" Masaru groaned.

"I don't think her bones are broken. I'm pretty sure the doc just did that to keep her from exerting herself," Mimi smiled.

"Quite the eccentric doctor. But our family doctor is quite the oddball himself," Benihime laughed.

"I guess that means I'll have to look after her," Matcha sighed.

"We could take shifts," Zuina suggested.

"No, this isn't something worthy of that."

                                                                               ...

Once everyone, but Matcha had left, Rika freed herself.

"Didn't need to humiliate me like that," Rika grumbled as she went to change out of her uniform.

"I'm still here to make sure you don't do anything stupid," Matcha glared.

"Yeah, yeah,  I'm going home. I'll still come in to work to lounge though," Rika grumbled.
