Chapter 1:

Chapter 1

Saga of Lilith Presents: CONDEMNED

Dark memories of a life that was, twisted visions of a future foreseen, and lucid dreams of lives that end in misery and pain. What is real, and what is lore? Hearken to the tale of woe, because a spirit of vengeance comes to claim her prize from the goddess of Death. When the heir of an emperor appears in his majestic glory, with all his servants by his side, he will take his seat on his throne of splendor, and all the nations will be gathered together before him. Hearken to this tale of vengeance and fate, the goddess of Death awaits her worthy opponent.

On a dark trail that leads to the furthest kingdom, a young woman wearing dark armor and a red cape is seen walking on the road. Her name is Cassia of Antioch.

She is twenty years old. Her face is white and pale, and her body is impure yet still like a human's. Cassia has an eyepatch that covers her right eye, and her right eye has three scars that run down to her right cheek. She has a light brown eye color in her only eye, and with her only eye, she can see rather clearly despite spending a lot of time in the dark.

Cassia's long hair is black, and it runs to her thighs. She had straight hair, which made her appearance stand out among other females around her age. She may not look attractive, but so long as she was able to stand and wield a sword, it was enough for her to keep going.

Cassia's dark armor was sheltered by her red cape, which also ran down to her thighs along with her black hair. She has dark knight armor with the engraving of a raven on the breastplate. The gauntlets and boots were also made of steel, which made it enough for Cassia to hide her appearance in the night.

Cassia wielded a longsword; the blade was sheltered in her sheath, and she always carried the sword on her left hip. All she ever needed to protect herself was her longsword; it kept her alive and never shattered from the amount of demons she had already slain. Based on her overall appearance, she was not the type of person that some people would freely welcome into their homes. Cassia's dark attire and pale-like appearance would make anyone think twice before allowing her to make herself feel welcomed.

On such an occasion, Cassia finds herself walking in the night, and she waits for the right time to pull out her sword and fight whatever demon stands in her way. The night itself was cold, the wind was strong, and the moon was the only thing besides the stars that could be seen. Cassia then checks her surroundings to make sure that neither human nor beast is in her path.

While walking, she always had her left hand holding onto the handle of her blade. It was during this time that Cassia started thinking about the life she once had before she became a vengeful berserker. She had nothing to fear but the sound of a girl who failed to save her young brother from a force too powerful for her to withstand.

Of course, Cassia was thinking about her past; she was thinking about all the things that surrounded her on the day that she lost any sense of light found within her soul. While walking, she could hear the same cry for help in her mind, and she could do nothing to make it go away. In her mind, Cassia could see a boy running away from something that was coming to him.

"Marcus, what have I done?" she whispered.

Marcus was the name of her younger brother and the one who she saw in her mind as she walked on this dark trail. Her face starts to get colder, and her left eye starts getting watery the more she thinks about the one she could not save. Cassia continues walking, but this time she starts becoming slower than one would expect from someone like her.

Why is this happening? Why now? She thought.

All Cassia had were negative thoughts about the events that occurred on that day when she not only lost her brother but also her right eye. The lonely wanderer can only think about these events for so long before realizing that she must face the creatures of the night. Regardless, she proceeds to hold onto the handle of her blade while walking to the nearest kingdom. For just an instant, Cassia felt a nudge in her heartstrings while thinking about the one she could not save.

"I swear, I will not die. Until I have done the will of my kin, I must push on," she whispered.

Perhaps Cassia was fated to die alongside those who fell to the servants of the goddess of Death. Or perhaps it was by the hands of Fate that she must stand against the demons and do what she could to make sure nobody could go through what she went through. While walking, she can still feel the wind easing by as it gets even colder.

On this trail, Cassia now sees that the nearest kingdom is not as far as she thought it would be. Each kingdom of the world is guarded by battlements that cover the people who reside in the kingdom. But it has been so long since Cassia lived freely in a kingdom, and so she is looked upon by few as an outcast. This, however, does not stop her from seeking a place to stay before she leaves for some other area.

Midnight was soon coming, so the only thing left for Cassia to do was to find the village that was next to the city. Luckily for the young berserker, some villages were open all day and all night, despite demons lurking around every corner. Without hesitation, Cassia prepares for whatever will come her way as the night is simply beginning.
