Chapter 2:

Chapter 2

Saga of Lilith Presents: CONDEMNED

The village of Caiaphas is a village that resides a few miles from the kingdom of Lindsey, and it was widely open to the public. So it was much simpler for Cassia to find a place to reside for only a few hours before slaying a group of demons. The night may have already begun, but there was rarely a chance that a demon would come out of nowhere and burn a village to the ground.

Cassia's appearance was obvious for many to not take lightly because of how much time she spent in the darkness. In a time of desolation, it would be rare for anyone to take shelter as an onslaught between a human and a band of demons would emerge before the morning sun rises again. While walking in the night, she had the assumption that she may not be so lucky to make it to the next village.

Cassia was smart enough not to run because running would trigger the appearance of demons. A demon could hear and smell an ounce of fear at least ten yards away from any human walking at night. The lonesome berserker had her longsword ready for any attack that would come towards her.

Suddenly, the ground began shaking, and an unholy roar was heard as if the moon was above the sword-wielding wanderer. The roar was from a force of nature that would make any ordinary person without a weapon tremble in fear. At that moment, a group of demons began rising from the ground as Cassia became ready for a new onslaught.

These demons wielded swords, spears, and axes as their bodies were protected by the night’s cold air. The night creatures start walking towards Cassia after emerging from the ground and raising their weapons into the air. The leader of this demonic group was aware of Cassia’s strength, so he was the first to raise his weapon against her.

“There are many of us, you lonesome wanderer. You haven’t a prayer to say against an army of us,” the demon leader said.

“I’ll take pleasure in ridding the world of your filth. I’ll send you all back to your gods. You’ll never find a place here on Earth,” Cassia said.

“Oh, but this world needs a protector, does it not? I think this man, these humans bow down to, demands a sacrifice. This Pontius fellow thinks he can withstand us all, does he not?”

While hearing the name Pontius, Cassia took a step back; her eyes were wide open, and she felt nothing but the piercing of her soul. That name was synonymous with betrayal in her mind, for this was the person who made her tremble in despair. According to her, Pontius was the man responsible for the death of Marcus and the destruction of the city she was born in. Vengeance was the only thing she knew in this day and age, and she would do anything to achieve that.

Then, her face started getting redder, and her teeth started gnashing at the sound of the name Pontius. Every time the name was said by any night creature, Cassia knew that the only thing she could do was cut anything and anyone standing in her way. Then, she pulls out her longsword and points it at the leader of this group of demons.

"Oh, what's this? You will defend this man, won't you? Pontius must be so worried about you, is he not?" The demon leader asked.

"I DON'T TAKE ORDERS FROM HIM!!" Cassia shouted.

Every demon standing behind their leader continued holding their weapons, so they could have a chance at killing this warrior. The night was getting darker, and they all needed a reason for obeying the orders of their master. The demon leader started to understand that Cassia was not a warrior who would leave without a fight.

"You have nothing to threaten me with! I serve no one, and I've heard enough of your heresy. You're nothing but a blight on humankind!" Cassia said.

"Have at you!" The demon leader shouted.

At that moment, the night creature lifted his sword and charged directly at Cassia while the other demons stood and watched. They believed that it would all be over in an instant because of how much of an ego their leader had. Cassia charges at the demon leader with her blade in her hands, as only Fate shall decide the victor.

Fate was the only thing most people on Earth believed in, and such a thing was what kept a warrior like Cassia alive on her journey. Without hesitation, Cassia manages to strike first and her blade sinks into the demon leader's chest. Her longsword is long enough to start from the creature's chest and pierce his back, which makes her able to survive against most onslaughts.

Then, Cassia pulls back her blade and slices the demon leader in two, leaving nothing behind but a mass of blood and guts. The other demons stood and watched as their leader's gore splattered across the ground. Cassia then begins to stroll towards the demons as they all wonder how she was able to defeat their leader so quickly.

It was not long before they realized they needed to avenge their leader by putting the dark crusader out of her misery. A second later, one of the demons decides to run towards Cassia with an ax, so he can go for the head. Her one eye detects how her enemies will try to kill her, yet her blade is quick enough to cease the impact before it happens.

Then, Cassia uses her longsword and kills the incoming night creature before he can try to land a blow against her. She cleaved the demon open, spilling its guts across the trail and leaving her blade stained with the blood of her opponents. She then proceeds to push forward the rest of the night creatures to finish them off before each of them has a chance to react.
