One Last Ride

Switch, on.

The barely-working machine mustered up one final breath as if just to be the place of the two girls’ final memory together.

“You ready?” Frankie asked.

Katie nodded as they jumped onto the moving attraction together as it spun.

Under the pink visage above, the sisters laughed for so long it felt like they would live forever.

They didn’t feel regretful or unaccomplished in the slightest. Recalling everything they’d seen, it felt like enough to fill five lifetimes.

They held hands, and hugged.

Gravity fell apart. The ride was ripped from its hinges and even leapt into the air. Something like that. They weren’t sure how it happened. Neither of them remembered how they died. 

The creations they’d made, the rides they’d ridden- all of them were destroyed, the world reset to zero as money lost all value it still had. Equalized in our demise, we all came together as animals for one final moment before our story’s end.

Katie felt so incredibly satisfied.
