Chapter 8:

Missing Link VIII

REIN: Nightmare Trials

8When I regained consciousness, my vision was greeted by the sight of a girl sprawled atop me, her inquisitive sniffing eliciting an array of sensations. She wore a white hoodie, the expanse of her white hair trailing down to her feet, while white quarter-length shorts and white boots completed her ensemble. It was Liza, in all her enigmatic glory. With audacious confidence, she declared, "I am a god, bow before me." My response wove exasperation into its fabric, "Would it kill you to learn how to avoid falling on me whenever you jump off a tree, or at least warn me before you fall off?" Yet, her answer was steeped in whimsicality, "What art thou saying? I be a god, and I do want not to compose myself known to thee."A sigh accompanied my muttered thoughts. —here comes the one that irritates me the most.An ache enveloped me, a reminder that her impromptu landings carried an air of unanticipated weight. "Well met, thou seem awfully enchafed today; what's wrong with thou?" She inquired, seemingly unfazed by her impact."Argh..." The sensation of being crushed was a trade-off I'd accept for preserving my dignity. "Oh... god. Humbly bless this person with thy presence," I muttered, inviting a playful response. "Oh. If that is what's wrong thou could hast quoth so." With a poised smile, she rose from her perch, and I brushed off my clothes, silently grateful for her eccentricities. Good thing she’s a moron, I thought as I dusted off my clothes."All right, let's get started." With our gathering assembled, the log of wood ready, I led the way to a designated spot by the river, suggesting that we start with preparing the fireplace. The rest of the group trotted after me carrying the log of wood to assist, and I added "I’d first prepare the fire place" before heading to a grass-free area by the river. The cat had previously informed us that the cloud garden was the sole location where a fireplace could be constructed for cooking. One of the fundamental lessons in evoking a command was shaping the ground to produce an object, but there was a trick to it. A prompt could only be used to create simple shapes, and using the earth elements to create a box shape would result in a solid box with no room for fire. In order to successfully create the desired fireplace, one more step was necessary.A true artist would first carve out the shape of the box, then use his tools to reshape it into a fireplace. However, for intricate structures like a fireplace, all I needed to do was picture the shape I wanted to create. It would be a good base idea to create a fire place out of the elements of earth and metal."[System] command"—Initiate command sequence. As I evoked the basic command, a virtual field appeared before me, and the earth below and the metal objects next to me coalesced into a sphere shape that was rising in the air.Contrary to expectations, controlling two elements proved to be relatively effortless. As I brought them together and steadied their motions, a subsequent prompt took shape, carving the final form of the fireplace. Another prompt was chanted by me."[Shape] Hollow."As soon as the two weightless components combined into one, gravity pulled the new object down to the open space and it transformed into a shear that was about a meter wide in diameter. The union of elements yielded a durable structure—earth forming its base, metal constructing its functional surface.A sense of accomplishment swelled within as I admired the outcome. Aria placed the log into the newly created fireplace. I signaled a command with my index finger extended in the air.[System] command.—Initiate command sequence.[five layer Commands] ——Layering commands  [Invoke] Flame. My index finger lighting a flame that danced like a candle. "[Launch]"With a final command, the flame leapt onto the logs, igniting the fire. The final preparations ensued—pot and ingredients for homemade curry rice and apple pie were meticulously set in place."Alright Aria, let’s start cooking!"I called out to her as she responded with "yeah"I then proceeded to pour the ingredients into the pot I had just made.—.The curry's sweet scent was quickly absorbed by the atmosphere, creating an earth-shattering atmosphere, as the curry began to boil. While stirring the curry with a spoon, the smell of the curry filled my nose. The scent was mixed with a distinct fragrance that resembled the aroma of freshly baked apple pie, causing my mouth to water uncontrollably. When I tasted it, it seemed like the curry had been overcooked. The apple pie, on the other hand, had been cooked in a way that maximized the taste of the fruit and the ingredients, and it was soft.Although we had just started, it was time to have lunch. The smell of the curry mixed with the scent of the freshly baked apple pie and wafted through the air of the cloud garden. The air was filled with the scent of freshly baked food and the curry's sweet aroma. As aria tasted it, she had a delighted expression on her face. The smell of the pie filled the air with a sweetness that would have made you hungry. The rest of the group were all excited by the meal, and there was only signs like beast waiting to devour their prey. There was nothing better than fresh curry on a warm day.The sweet smell of the apple pie, and the curry's delicious aroma mixed with each other.I sighed in pleasure and wiped the sweat that had formed on my forehead.
