Chapter 16:

#BLUR I

REIN: Nightmare Trials

1"Why am I considered a guest in this place?" I finally asked, my curiosity growing with each passing moment. The cat, number 000, responded with an air of nonchalance, "Who knows? All that is certain is my knowledge of this plant and your status as a guest.""What do you mean by 'plant', and where am I?" I pressed for answers, eager to make sense of this mysterious place.
"After all your ruckus earlier on, it seems you have finally notice my importance. Well then, that's good in its own way. You had better listen closely," the cat remarked with an air of wisdom shining brightly through its eyes."As previously mentioned, welcome to our establishment - a place where comfort meets luxury and your journey becomes an unforgettable experience. We are pleased to have you here as our esteemed guest. If there is anything that you need to make your stay more exceptional than it already is, 000 will be available at your service," explained the cat flawlessly reciting what seemed like a well-rehearsed script."I see now; so you're some kind of hotel guide," I speculated while attempting to understand the peculiar circumstances surrounding me."Idiot?! In what world do you see a talking cat as a hotel guide? Although my role falls in that category, I'm a respectable guardian here," the cat retorted, defensively emphasizing its importance within those walls."So, he does see himself as one," I thought, amused by the cat's mix of pride and annoyance."Ahem... Mr. Cat, why are you called by number 000?" I asked, attempting to unveil the mystery behind the numerical designation."Ah, another question? Let me see... You. Didn't you get a number tag before coming here?" the cat responded cryptically."Number tag?" I queried, confused."Yes, the one with the blue engravings. All guests on the plant have one like this," the cat explained, revealing a blue marking on its neck that read 000."I don't know... do I have one?" I wondered aloud."Let me see," the cat replied. With a swift leap, it balanced on my shoulder, examining my neck before gracefully landing back on the marble floor.I felt a peculiar sensation as the cat scrutinized my neck with its soft paws, and I winced slightly."Ah, there it is," the cat exclaimed, its voice filled with triumph.I touched the area the cat had been examining and felt the unusual texture. The stripes were indeed there, fixed to my skin like an intricate pattern."What does it mean?" I asked, bewildered by the discovery."Well, you do have one. Yours is the number 101. Guest, should I call you by your name, or would you prefer to be called another?" the cat inquired."Well, I don't know if that much would be imposing on you," I replied, unsure of what to expect."Don't worry. Just like other guests, your number would be yours," the cat assured, leaving me with a sense of both relief and curiosity about the mysteries embedded in the numbers and names of the enigmatic plant."If you don't mind, I can call you by your name instead". The cat seemed to sense my discomfort when referred to as a number, which didn't sit well with me."But, I seem to have forgotten my name,” I admitted."Oh, that's alright," the cat replied reassuringly. "It may be disappointing at first, but don't lose hope! Why not choose a new name for yourself? Don't dwell on the past; instead, see it as an opportunity to learn more about yourself and create new memories. It's actually quite exciting!"I pondered on the cat's words, feeling a sense of liberation at the thought of creating a new identity for myself. It was true that I had no recollection of my past or who I used to be, but perhaps this was my chance to start anew and discover myself"Alright then, let's do it," I said with newfound enthusiasm. The cat grinned, purred in satisfaction with its ability to inspire me. "Excellent! How about we brainstorm together? We can come up with something that truly represents you."And so, the cat and I spent the next hour bouncing back ideas and suggestions until we finally settled on something that felt right—at least that was what I thought.
