Attack On Titan - Ackerman's Legacy

A week passed and all the efforts of Roku and Erwin hadn't led them anywhere, it was time for the trial.

Before the trial, the survey corps' important members and leaders gathered in the hallway, anxiously awaiting the commencement of the proceedings.

Roku arrived with Erwin by his side, exchanging greetings with Commander Shadis.

"I hope it goes right for us, only this time," Commander Shadis expressed his concerns.

"Don't worry, Commander. Erwin is good with words. I agreed with him that he will be the one to address the court," Roku reassured.

"As you see, Roku," Commander Shadis replied,

They then entered the courtroom, taking their designated places.

Shadis, Roku, and Erwin assumed positions on the front lines, ready to face the impending trial.

As the proceedings commenced, the higher-ups began presenting the problems and obstacles they associated with the survey corps. The atmosphere was tense, and the fate of the organization hung in the balance.

When it was their turn to speak, Erwin rose from his seat, the weight of the survey corps' destiny on his shoulders. He stepped forward, facing the court with unwavering resolve.

Erwin Smith, standing before the assembly of stern-faced higher-ups, felt the weight of the survey corps' future resting on his shoulders.

"Today, I stand before you not just as a soldier but as a believer in the indomitable spirit of humanity. The survey corps is not just an organization; it is a symbol of our relentless pursuit of freedom and knowledge."

He paused, scanning the room to meet the gaze of each higher-up, ensuring his words resonated with conviction. "I understand the concerns that have been raised about the efficiency and success of our expeditions. The losses we've endured have been tremendous, and the sacrifices made by our comrades weigh heavily on our hearts. But I implore you not to let these setbacks cloud the essence of what the survey corps represents."

Erwin's eyes gleamed with unwavering enthusiasm as he continued, "We are not merely soldiers roaming outside the walls; we are pioneers, pushing the boundaries of our understanding. Yes, we've faced insurmountable challenges, encountered titans of unimaginable strength, and witnessed the deaths of our fellow soldiers. But every setback, every loss, has only fueled our determination to unravel the mysteries that shroud our world."

He took a step forward, his hands gesturing emphatically. "Canceling the survey corps is not just a loss for us; it's a loss for humanity. It's a surrender to fear, a retreat from the pursuit of knowledge and the freedom that lies beyond these walls. Are we to cower within these barriers, living like prisoners, or shall we embrace the uncertainty outside and strive for a future where humanity is not confined by fear?"

Erwin's passion radiated through his words, infusing the room with a sense of fervor.

"The survey corps has faced adversity since its inception, yet it has persisted. We've achieved the seemingly impossible, discovered the truth about our world, and, in doing so, have inched closer to unlocking the secrets of our existence."

He directed his gaze to the skeptical faces before him, his voice unwavering.

"I propose that instead of canceling the survey corps, we reinforce our commitment to it. Invest in better equipment, provide additional resources, and support our soldiers in their pursuit of knowledge. Let us learn from our mistakes and turn them into stepping stones towards a brighter future."

Erwin's enthusiasm soared, echoing through the room.

"The survey corps is not just a group of soldiers; it's a beacon of hope for humanity. It represents the undying spirit that refuses to be shackled by the chains of fear. I ask you, esteemed members of the higher-ups, to consider the legacy we leave behind. Will it be one of surrender or one of unyielding determination?"

As Erwin concluded his impassioned speech, he left an air of inspiration lingering in the room. The higher-ups, initially skeptical, found themselves contemplating the profound choice laid before them.

Erwin Smith, with his unwavering enthusiasm and belief in the survey corps, had sparked a glimmer of hope in the hearts of those who held the fate of humanity in their hands.

"Nice speech. I told you are better than me in words," Roku whispered to Erwin as the higher-ups engaged in silent discussions about the fate of the survey corps.

Erwin acknowledged Roku with a nod. The decision had been made.

"Now we conclude our trial. The Survey Corps cancellation is obligated to be done. We, the higher-ups, announce the cancellation of the survey corps," declared one of the higher-ups, sealing the fate of the organization.

The shock among the survey corps members was palpable, and the solemnity of the moment lingered in the air.

Erwin's hope flickered, replaced by a profound sense of defeat.

Beside him, Roku's face filled with rage. The commander's disappointment and the higher-ups' decision fueled a fire within him.

As everyone started to leave the court, Commander Shadis included, Roku rose from his seat, determined to alter the trajectory of fate.

"Everybody, trust me in this one. I will make sure the survey corps continues its legacy," Roku declared with a commanding and serious voice.

Some soldiers were skeptical, whispering doubts among themselves. The higher-ups had spoken, and the fate of the survey corps seemed sealed.

Erwin, however, stood up, expressing unwavering faith in Roku. "I believe in you, Roku. Do you have a plan?"

"Yes," Roku responded with conviction.

The Commander approached them, "Both of you, I believe that you can bring change, but if anything illegal happens, it's going to get us in a worse situation, and I am referring here to you, Roku."

"Don't worry, Commander. I've got an important person who can turn the tables for us," Roku assured, leaving a hint of mystery in the air.

As they left the court, Erwin couldn't shake the commander's words. "It seems you've got a dark past, Roku."

Roku stayed silent and then he broke his silence,

"I am a murderer. I killed several men when I was in the underground," Roku confessed, his voice carrying the weight of regret.

"I think you wouldn't do it cold-bloodedly. You had a reason, I am sure of it," Erwin replied, offering a glimmer of understanding.

"Thanks," Roku responded with a soft voice, his past casting shadows on his present.

"And who is that person that can change the trial's order?" Erwin inquired, seeking clarity on the mysterious plan unfolding.

"I just remembered someone I know is related to the king, so I may have a chance to talk to him," Roku explained.

"The king? Well, that can really turn the tables," Erwin remarked, considering the potential impact of Roku's connection.

"But I will go alone. If I get into any trouble, I will be imprisoned. So, you stay here, and it's an order. No discussion," Roku declared, his determination leaving no room for negotiation.
