Chapter 4:

Himitsu 04 - Commence

Secret Story - 小説

Kenzo is growing increasingly impatient, feeling the need for some action. So, he decides to act upon his impulse. He called his friend Hideo, and they both appeared at Jun's front door, precisely at midnight. Kenzo rings the doorbell, and it was time for some fun and mischief. Jun, who is deep asleep on the couch, jolts up, realizing that the movie he was watching had already ended. Atsuko was sleeping soundly, her head resting on Jun's shoulder. The doorbell rang again and again, incessantly until Jun started feeling annoyed. He carefully gets up from the couch, trying not to wake Atsuko as he puts a pillow under her head. Jun walks to the front door of the house, trying to make as little noise as possible. When he opens the door, he is caught off guard by a quick flash. Before he could even react, Kenzo greets him, "Good morning!" and uses a fast technique to stun Jun. Jun yowls in pain from an unseen electric shock as he falls to the ground. Kenzo and Hideo then enter the quiet home, both uninvited guests. The atmosphere was tense as they made their way inside, and it was clear that they were up to no good. "Stab him, Hideo!" Kenzo demands, not wanting to taint his hands with Jun's blood. Hideo listens to Kenzo like the obedient slave he is, hovering over Jun with an ancient and silver colored knife. Hideo stabs Jun in the heart, showing no mercy. A pool of thick crimson forms underneath Jun who screams in sheer agony. This deadly sharp knife is called Soulblade.

Soulblade is a knife that doesn't kill its victims. Instead, it teleports the person elsewhere to another dimension. Jun's body is engulfed by a bright light, and he disappears into thin air, leaving the knife behind. Hideo stares at the knife, gasping. It's due to the fact that he may have made a mistake. He had used the wrong knife. It was supposed to be the gold one. Not the silver one. It turns out that there are two types of Soulblades: Gold and Silver. The Gold Soulblade merely teleports the person to Caspien, a distant land. But the Silver Soulblade is far more dangerous. Not only does it teleport the person, but it also awakens a hidden power within them.

The power that one gains from the Silver Soulblade can be overwhelming. It can even overpower the likes of Kenzo and Hideo, two beings who are not merely human. In fact, it can even cause a full-on battle if possible. Right away, Hideo picks up the silver knife, pretending as if he did nothing wrong. Kenzo walks into the dimly lit living room, the only source of light coming from the blank and blue TV screen. As he scans the room, he spots Atsuko sound asleep on the couch, completely oblivious to her surroundings. Without any hesitation, Kenzo raises his hand,"Hideo, grab her.” He commands, snapping his finger once and forming a dark red portal which leads to an unknown destination. Hideo complies with Kenzo's command, carefully carrying Atsuko like a sleeping damsel in distress through the portal. Kenzo takes a moment to survey the living room, his curiosity piqued, but he decides to save his snooping for later.

As he steps through the portal, it doesn't close behind him, staying there on purpose. Because of Kenzo and Hideo, similar portals are located throughout the city of Okinawa. In total, there are seven portals, all positioned in unexpected locations. The first sighting is located in the back alley of Frilly Trinkets, followed by the town hall of Okinawa Prefecture, a popular tourist attraction called American Village, Lake Man, the sea of trees known as Aokigahara, Atsuko's bland room, and finally, Jun's living room. As the city of Okinawa slumbers, these seven portals begin to widen, emitting an ominous glow that is hard to ignore. The portals grow rapidly, exceeding ten feet in height and swallowing everything in their path, leaving no one behind. All those who are engulfed by the portals are teleported to a place called Caspien, a mythical location that is known to very few. Caspien is said to be a place where the sky is painted red during both day and night, offering an unpleasant sight for those who lay their eyes upon it.

Not only that, but those who enter Caspien will be consumed by their deepest desires, be it good or evil. Humans are not known to be good creatures, and in Caspien, they are free to indulge in their darkest cravings. And who offers anyone's deepest desires? Beings called, 堕天使 Daten-shi."

In the midst of her slumber, Atsuko lets out a low groan, "Nnnnnggg.....” Her body shifts slightly on the plush canopy bed. She murmurs Jun's name, her eyes fluttering open for a brief moment before closing again. As she settles back into the bed, Atsuko's initial thought is that she's in the guest room of Jun's house, but as she looks around, she realizes that this isn't the case. The walls are adorned with an embossed rose floral pattern in a soft shade of pink, and the room itself is much larger than any she's ever been in before. Everything in the room is pink - the bed, the cupboard, the desk, the bookshelf, and even the outline of the wall mirror. As she takes it all in, Atsuko gasps in amazement, feeling a sense of awe and wonder. She wonders if she's dreaming, but the vividness and clarity of the room suggest otherwise. She gets out of bed and approaches the window, drawing the pink veil curtains apart with a delicate touch. The view outside is breathtaking - her entire town lies before her, the sky a beautiful shade of dreamy blue. It's almost like a painting, and the sight is oddly calming. As she stands there admiring the view, the door to her bedroom suddenly opens, causing Atsuko to turn around.

Stab!

The person who entered the room was so fast, stabbing Atsuko in the heart. She trembles in pain, her body becomes awfully cold and tired. As her vision becomes a blurry mess from tears, Atsuko tries to stare at the culprit. There's a faint color of fuzzy green and red. As Atsuko loses consciousness, a familiar someone enters the room, watching Atsuko bleed out. He also stares at the culprit, Ms.Lia who looks devoid of emotion, her hands stained with precious blood. She's not herself, no longer being pretentious or bossy. As Kenzo observes the scene before him, he can feel a sense of boredom creeping in. He watches as Ms. Lia, dressed in a delicate pink and white maid outfit, uses her magical abilities to clean up the unconscious Atsuko and return her to bed. Despite her pristine appearance, Ms. Lia's voice sounds robotic and unnaturally cold, and her skin is an unnerving shade of pale.

Kenzo's attention is drawn to the knife lying on the floor that is covered in Atsuko's blood. The blade, called WarpKnife, is a weapon that distorts memories and is incredibly effective. Kenzo has used it before, and the mere sight of it sends shivers down his spine. As he approaches the crime scene, he notices that Atsuko's blood has an otherworldly quality to it. Instead of the usual red, it is a strange white substance that glitters in the light. Kenzo can't resist the temptation to lick the blade of the Warpknife, experiencing a deep sense of pleasure as his body tingles with goosebumps. Kenzo has been drawn to Atsuko since the moment he laid eyes on her many years ago. However, he knows that their ages are not what they seem. As a Daten-shi, a fallen angel who wants to see the downfall of humanity, Kenzo has been around for much longer than Atsuko, and his appearance contradicts his true age. Atsuko is a human known as a Lovely Paragon, and that's why Kenzo is deeply drawn to her. He sees her as a potential energy source and knows that he must do everything in his power to have her all to himself.
