Chapter 29:

Feelings

My Other Half

The next evening Ivaylo traveled to the Outskirts home. He hoped, Paetyn would return and they would talk out everything, that had happened till now. The doorbell rang and he excitedly ran to open it. To his dismay, it was Rose.

She was the last Beastperson, he wished to see. He asked her, why she came. "I wanted to spend my free time with my boyfriend." He cut her off. "Please... We are not in a relationship." She got angry. "How could you say that, after everything?" Ivaylo was confused. "What do you mean? You are just constantly annoying me."

She looked into his eyes in disbelief. How could he say something like that? She was sacrificing her time for that Beastman. Ivaylo sighed and pushed her out of the entrance hall into the corridor and shut the door in her face.

She began to bang on the door and shout at the whole residential building. He tried to ignore that. Ivaylo was upset about the day before. He grabbed a bottle of alcohol and drank it all up in no time, getting drunk again.

The intrusive thoughts of his negativity began to creep up on his mind again. He undressed his shirt putting it neatly onto the bed. He had a Deja vú, sitting on the Kotatsu table, facing the kitchen. The whole apartment dipped in darkness.

As he was about to ram his claws into the shoulder, he realized one detail. His claws, they are gone. A hysterical laughter with a hint of irony reverberated through his apartment. He trimmed the only pain reliever because of a human girl.

Ivaylo was commuting for the next two weeks from the City Center to the Outskirts. He held tight to the hope, that Paetyn would come around and visit him. He was a coward because he didn't want to approach her first.

The second weekend, he had enough and went to Kay's bar. The Doberman Beastman wasn't very welcoming this time. He heard, what Ivaylo said and done. He was pretty much pissed and had to restrain himself from smashing Ivaylo's head into the nearest wall. "Leave, before I lose control!"

Ivaylo was stubborn. "Where is she?! I have to talk to her!" Kay ran around the bar and grabbed him under the throat. Ivaylo had no time for these games and pacified the bigger and stronger Kay, in just a few seconds. "I need to meet her!" Kay was dumbfounded, how he did do that? He was in the military but Ivaylo had the skills to beat him? "How?"

Ivaylo released his grip on him. "I will tell you if you tell me..." Kay straightened up, with a little bit of hurt pride as he walked back behind the bar. "Well, depends... I heard about the kidnapping and the little stunt with that Beastwoman. You couldn't hurt and humiliate Paetyn more."

Ivaylo sank into the chair. The Beastguy continued... "A maid? Getting used to the human odor? You can use any human for that purpose. Stay away from Paetyn!" Ivaylo smashed both of his hands on the bar top. "It's not like that! I didn't mean it. I had to..." Ivaylo dipped his face into his palms.

Kay leaned in. "So, how did you mean those harsh words for real?!" Ivaylo looked up into the Doberman's face. "That Beastwoman came unexpectedly and I had to lie in front of Paetyn. Rose, that Beastwoman... knows my family and they can't get the wind of it, that I meet up with humans. I had to make her believe a lie about Paetyn. The whole maid thing and odor were just a BIG FAT LIE. In reality... I love her scent."

Kay's eyes flinched. Ivaylo revealed more than he anticipated. That little detail had to stay a secret. "I can't help you anyway. She is hurt and disappointed." Ivaylo's mood didn't improve after learning that.

"How did you even know, that she was about to visit that day? I heard from Paetyn you lurked her out." Ivaylo raised his hand and showed Kay his shortened claws. Kay looked down at his claws and chuckled. "You are good!"

Kay couldn't deny the fact, that Ivaylo also sacrificed his claws for her. That meant, that same as Kay, Ivaylo had deeper feelings for that human girl. Ivaylo raised to the status of a competition in Kay's eyes. He should try his best to keep him from her.

That Beastwoman did him a service, tearing Ivaylo apart from Paetyn. He knew she would give in to Ivaylo's clumsy attempts to build up a relationship. "So, you fell for Paetyn," Kay said with a sad whisper. Ivaylo was left stunned. What did just Kay say? That can't be! He can't fall for a human woman... Were all those feelings until now... love?

I familiar voice disrupted his thought process. "You ASSHOLE!" Marsh ran up to him and began to punch Ivaylo. He didn't feel much, just some ticklish sensation on the right side. Ivaylo looked up to Kay. "What is he trying to do right now?"

Kay shrugged. "He is probably beating you up." Ivaylo rolled his eyes and pushed Marsh away. "Oh, and I can't forget... You two bastards deceived me. You never gave her my number." Ivaylo glared at both of them.

Marsh was brushing off his shirt and sat next to him at the bar. "You proved to me, that it was the best option. Yet, you had to stalk her out and kidnap Paetyn into your apartment and then tear out her heart and throw it into the trash. Stinking human maid, right?!"

Ivaylo's fist made contact with the wood of the bar, making a thud sound. "I already explained it wasn't like that. Please, give me her number or tell her to visit me and I will explain everything to her!"

Kay with his selfish intentions refused and Marsh wanted just to protect his cousin. "It was your fault. And I wasn't a fan of you bothering her in the first place." It was getting nowhere with those two. "Give us a chance to talk that out. Tell her please..." Ivaylo left home, with the hope they would do the right thing...
