Fuck the gods

250 years ago, a monster was sent to earth by a group of bored gods, and it went on a rampage. It killed everyone in sight and began multiplying as more humans were devoured. As humanity began fighting back, it was discovered that the only thing that could kill such monster for good and stop one from multiplying was by cutting deep through its flesh, and through its core. Every monster had a core. However, by the time this knowledge had been made public, about a third of the population had already died, and most of those left were either too scared or in mourning of their lost loved ones to fight the remaining monsters. Some others, however, stood up against these monsters. These people were called the bringers of light, for the only hope of the world turning back to how it was before lied in these peoples hands. As more of these monsters were killed by the bringers of light, they realised that something within them had changed. After killing a monster, a human could gain superhuman powers, though randomly. They were based off of elements, and sub-categories of the elements. Fire and electricity, water and ice, and earth and wind. One would receive an element, and if they were deemed powerful enough by the gods, would unlock the sub-category as well.

The gods were horrible, toying with these peoples lives for their own entertainment. However there was one god, Vitcran, who was on the humans’ side but had been locked away by the other gods millions of years ago. All of these years, he had grown angrier and angrier by seeing just what the other gods had been doing, and recently, they had crossed the line. Vitcran got so angry he managed to break the seal which kept him away, and decided that he would do something that would ruin the other gods plans. You see, Vitcran, while he had been locked away, had been getting stronger, while the other gods had been lazing around and gotten weaker, so he knew he could beat them. However, he wanted to be more tactical. He decided to make the other gods rage. He sacrificed his life by putting his soul, all of his power and memories into a dead baby, fusing its heart with his core. However, these powers would not be accessed until certain thresholds of the baby’s growth. This newborn baby was then technically bonded to Vitcran, although he would not find this out until further in the story. Vitcran, with a smile, dissipated away, knowing that one day, he would be alive in the boy’s core.

All creatures except for mortals had cores, including gods, so when Vitcran fused with this boy, his core was the only thing kept alive, inside the boy.

Vitcran’s goal was to make the gods rage through having his powers take the form of a mere mortal and having these gods be destroyed by a species they thought were powerless

Gods had a different kind of power, not unlike the elements, called jinxes.

After humans begin to progress and find more developed ways to kill these havoc-wreaking monsters, some gods allowed the opportunity for particular humans to gain a portion of their overall power.

These people were then called emissaries- the vessels of gods, and became worshipped as the chosen ones.

Everyone began to believe that in times of struggle, the gods would lend their divine power to help. They were unaware of the reasoning behind it all. To simply make the humans pathetically struggle more as they watched it all happen.

The Mc might be seen as Vitcran’s emissary, however it would not be accurate to say that, because although the power from the other gods could be taken away from the humans at any moment, the power inside the Mc will gradually grow to be his. Vitcran has sacrificed himself for this to happen so only his core will be intact with the boy’s body, and he will be unable to interfere with the powers he has given. Once the boy’s powers have been unlocked, only then Vitcran will be able to communicate with the boy (telepathically).
