Chapter 48:

The Bride Will Not Be Harmed!

Voice Academy Diaries

From Salieri's perspective

"Kneel right there!"

Brainwaves coursed through a speaker, unleashing a mechanical voice that resonated loudly. I fired the machine gun skyward in rapid succession.

"Aaah!"

A woman's scream echoed around us, effectively demonstrating who was in charge here.

"Who are you... Why are you doing this?" Narsha's father demanded, his confusion and fear evident.

"I have two demands," I stated. "First, stop this pathetic excuse for a wedding. Second, bring me the rabbit summoning beast right here in front of me."

Murmurs swept through the crowd.

"What rabbit? What are you talking about? This wedding is an important festival for our village; we can't just stop it..."

"Seems like you still don't grasp the gravity of the situation," I sneered, and commanded the machine, which then emitted a unique series of tones through the speaker.

Being a machine voice, it could chant spells that humans couldn't easily replicate.

"!!"

"I've just thinned the air around you. In ten minutes, you'll become disoriented and eventually suffocate."

A wicked laugh escaped me; the death of the bride's father would surely ruin the wedding.

"Why are you doing this? Answer me, Salieri!"

"Surprised, huh? How did you recognize it was me, even with this steel body?"

"I just know. Please, stop this madness!"

"If you know, then you should call off the wedding now, as I'm telling you to."

A tense silence fell, punctuated only by the rustling of leaves in the wind.

Breaking the silence was the groom, Orgo.

"I won't let you hurt Narsha. I don't know what she means to you, but you will not harm her father!"

"Ha! Playing the hero in front of the lady, are you? Perfect. I'll just have to destroy you, and your wedding dress will be stained red."

"Not if I can help it!"

He seemed to be chanting something.

Basic Water, perhaps?

"Ah, trying to disrupt the electrical systems with water, clever. But this body is waterproof! Advanced Fire!"

"Fire Shield!"

Narsha quickly erected a barrier in front of Orgo.

Such a low-level shield would be blown away in no time!

"You'll be covered in burns soon enough! Now, what will it be? Will you call off the wedding, or choose death?"

Just as I was pushing them to make an ultimate decision, the world seemed to turn upside down.

There was a malfunction in the electrical system.

It took a moment to realize that someone had blown it away.

"Who is it...?"

"Sorry I'm late to the wedding, Narsha! But it looks like I made it just in time."

The man who appeared before me was a familiar face I had seen once in the village.

"Akira!"
