Chapter 96:

Celebrating with Toasts

Voice Academy Diaries

Akira's Perspective

There were three pieces of good news. Erick and Clara, thanks to the tireless efforts of a curse doctor, were successfully cured of their curse and discharged from the hospital. Salieri's body was found during a search of Councilman Amadeus's residence, and he was successfully restored to his original form. Moreover, a ceasefire was officially announced by the government. That's all. However, the seeds for the war's resumption still remain, and the situation remains precarious.

Despite it being a bit premature, we decided to gather all involved and raise a toast to celebrate. "Cheers!" Everyone joined in the toast as Elize had promised to showcase her cooking, having reserved the academy's cafeteria for the day.

"How's your body feeling, Erick?" I asked. "Ah, it’s been a month since then. Rehab has been going well, and I should be able to attend classes by tomorrow. If there’s another chance for a swap battle, I'll challenge you. I hate losing," he replied with a challenge. "Ah, I won't lose next time," I responded. Erick chuckled and added, "Thanks to you, I've discovered my weaknesses. I've been rigorously training my long tones even during rehab. Next time, it’s my turn to rise."

We did a fist bump. It seems we have developed a good rivalry, constantly pushing each other to improve.

"By the way, this dessert is delicious. What's this black one called?" Allegro asked, sparking curiosity. Sonata quickly explained, "It's chocolate. Akira learned how to make it when he visited his family’s home, so you must try it and give your feedback. And the cookies are delicious too, make sure to try those!"

So, chocolate is not a common treat in this world. Elize had spent three days at my family's home, but I had been unable to return. Researching the magic needed to return would be my goal for the foreseeable future.

I took my time enjoying the chocolate and cookies. "Mmm, delicious." The flavors were good enough to be sold in a department store.

Like Erick, Elize also became aware of her weaknesses and strived to overcome them. "That's great! Elize will be pleased to hear that," Sonata said while looking around. "Where's Elize, by the way?"

"She said she was going to the restroom but hasn't come back yet," Clara responded.

"Let me go check on her; I'm a bit worried!" Sonata said. Since it's the women's restroom, it was awkward for me to offer to accompany her.

Shortly after Sonata left for the restroom, a scream echoed, "Someone come quick!" "It's Elize! She's collapsed! It must be the curse! Call the curse doctor!"
