Chapter 99:

The Ultimate Duo! The Ultimate Magic!

Voice Academy Diaries

From Akira's Perspective

Countertenor—a high vocal range that even men can achieve, corresponding to a female voice.

Men who can sing countertenor can master spells like alto and soprano magic designed for female voices.

"Are you saying you can perform countertenor magic, Eric?"

"Yes, originally, the owner of this body, Elize, didn’t want to give up female voice magic even after her voice changed. Secretly, she trained her vocal cords and mastered the countertenor magic."

"When did you learn about this?"

"Just three days ago, before the party. She confided in me."

This might just work.

The dungeon required pairs to enter, but it didn’t specify that they had to be male and female.

"Akira and Eric, the strongest at the academy, teaming up might just make a miracle happen. We might even reach the 130th floor!"

Sonata exclaimed, eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Let's go!"

With determination, we headed towards the dungeon.

"Akira, just so you know, don’t slow me down. If you become a drag, I won’t hesitate to leave you behind."

"Fair enough. It's frustrating, but I'll do whatever it takes to keep up!"

We descended into the dungeon.

Battle zones, puzzle areas, athletic challenges—one after another, we faced numerous gadgets and challenges.

As we cleared each one, taking breaks in between, the initial disconnect transformed into a strangely solid trust by the time we reached the 90th floor.

Eric healed both himself and me at a landing on the stairs.

"You’re doing well. It’s clear why you were able to defeat us."

"To surpass you, she trained me hard up to this point. I'll do whatever it takes to save her."

"I feel the same. After all, it’s my original body at risk. I can't die here, and I can't stand losing to you guys forever."

After overcoming many difficulties, we reached the 140th floor.

"I see. This must be the melody that binds a soul to the body—the combined magic of male and female voices. The pronunciation of the ancient language isn’t too difficult. The female voice part can be managed with countertenor, but the male voice part requires a sophisticated musical sense. Since losing to you, I’ve been practicing long tones every day. Akira, I’ll do my best, but I’m counting on you."

"Leave it to me."

We memorized the magical melody.

After escaping the dungeon, we rushed back to where Elize was.

"How is she?"

"She looks in pain. She might die if we don't do something. Did you get the spell?"

"Leave it to me."

Both Eric and I, layering our voices, chanted the magic directed at Elize.

Please let her be saved!
