Chapter 47:

Missing

My Other Half

Ivaylo was wallowing in his own misery for quite some time now. Left lonely in the locked room. He tried to open it but that door had to withstand a bomb, a half-blood couldn't open it of course.

He sat in the corner on the floor, illuminated by a small light, and the rest of the room was swallowed by darkness. Arms over his knees and his head was hanging in despair. He had an itch to ram his claws into his shoulder, but... The promise he gave Paetyn a day before and could his family stand that kind of sight? He was pondering about it.

A loud explosion and the door flew open, dipping the whole space into debris and dust. Ivaylo began to cough and squint his eyes, which were hurting from the particles. Suddenly a squat of Beastmen stormed inside fully armed.

Kay stepped inside in full tactical gear, sliding his mask down from his face, shouting at Ivaylo. "Where is she?! WHERE IS PAETYN?!" Ivaylo's stomach dropped. What was he talking about? She should be home, or with him at least. Kay turned to his colleagues. "Search everything! NOW!" Then the Doberman turned back to Ivaylo. "Are you okay?!"

After Ivaylo was dragged away from the Outskirts apartment, Paetyn grabbed her phone and contacted Kay right away. He was confused about what she was telling him in a hurry. He had to calm her down and explain it to him from the start.

He heard her out and then knew, what to do. The Beastman alarmed the police department and right his ex-higher-ups about an important Beast businessman kidnapping. Kay was allowed to take part in the investigation and search.

He told Paetyn, that Marsh would pick her up to be safe. Ready, to search the CCTV cameras of the city, they quickly found the van and followed the lead until they caught the perpetrators on the way back with an empty vehicle.

After a short interrogation, they gave the address and Kay went full army Doberman style into the huge residence. Before they stormed the building, Kay got a phone call from Marsh. Paetyn got kidnapped and was now missing.

"WHAT?! YOU HAD TO PROTECT HER!" With that on his mind, he ran inside pissed, and restrained the inhabitants. After finding Ivaylo locked inside the room, he needed to find Paetyn too, but to no avail.

Ivaylo grabbed Kay after that stupid "Are you okay" question and shook with him, well, kind of, Kay didn't even sway a little. "Shortly before we came inside... Marsh called me about the situation."

Ivaylo's hands dropped to his sides. "What are you talking about?! Where is she?! What had happened?!" Now, Ivaylo pissed ran upstairs confronting his family. Only now Kay learned, that his own relatives were holding him hostage. If this comes out, it will cause a huge scandal.

His parents and grandparents never saw him making that kind of a face. He grabbed the grandfather and pushed him into the chair, as he had done to him before. "WHERE ARE YOU HOLDING HER!"

His granddad was confused. "Who?" Ivaylo pushed a vase from the table next to him. "My beloved girlfriend! The human girl!" Ivaylo's family looked at each other, searching for an answer because nobody from them didn't target her. They wanted only to put some restraints on their own son.

"DON'T LIE TO ME!" Kay sniffed out, that they were telling the truth, but Ivaylo didn't listen even to him. He began to destroy the decorations around him, to vent his despair and frustration. Why is this happening to him? The moment he feels happy, something bad follows shortly after. Is this his fault? Can't he feel happiness? Does the god of fate hate him so much? If yes, then he should be hurt not Paetyn!

The Doberman Beastman felt anxious about not knowing where Paetyn was, but at least, he could keep it together until now. After seeing Ivaylo trashing his surroundings and feeling the pain, he couldn't watch him any further.

Kay wrapped his arms around Ivaylo to restrain him from any more damaging actions. By that time his hands were bloody from cuts he did to himself, while throwing that tantrum. Ivaylo's family was stunned. Only now it set in, how deeply connected he got with that human woman.

As he couldn't move, his knees gave in and he fell to the ground with tears flowing down his cheeks. His mother couldn't hold it in and ran up to her son to hug him crying as well. "I am sorry! I am sorry! Please, forgive us!" The father joined them in the group embrace. The rest followed as well, except the grandfather on the father's side.

He was adamant not to allow his grandson, to destroy his future with a union of Ivaylo and a disgusting human woman. Kay was observing him and glaring. The grandfather noticed and dug into him. "Don't give me that look, you mongrel!"

What did that old half-blood just call him?! Kay growled. "It's your fault that Paetyn is missing! If Ivaylo would be with her, she would be safe!" That dog called her name? Does he know her as well? Thought the grandfather. "What kind of a relationship do you have with that human filth?!"

Kay walked over to that old Beastman, standing tall over him, giving him a serious "I am gonna kill you" glare. "I am childhood friends with her!" The grandfather began to laugh maniacly. "WHAT?! A Beastman and a Human? Friends?! IMPOSSIBLE! You are nuts! You are the problem, why are those creatures crawling back into the cities."

Kay got grabbed by his teammates as soon, as that sentence ended. They noticed, he was growing impatient with that old fart. Even Ivaylo tried to push his way to him, but his parents held him down.

He will never forgive him for those harsh words, because it was targeted towards Paetyn, the only one, who was his guardian angel and true love.
