Chapter 6:

Chapter 6

Authors reincarnation

Kaans struggles found an end as Liams grip loosened. Blood finally started to flow into his forearms again and his tunnel vision subsided after intense minutes of strangling.

But his relieve lasted only for a moment as he snapped to catch the wolfkins falling body. He caught him with whatever adrenaline was still left in his system, determined to not let Kaans head get close to the ground.

To anyone else watching the fight it looked like a moment of great sportsmanship as Liam held Kaans hand, pulling the unconscious beastman up to his height.

"Out! Liam of the first year wins!"

Liam moved with a hushed haste to his backpack he placed on the floor before the fight began and reached into it. What he pulled out shocked almost all the spectators, except the five that already knew of his skill.

"I-Is that a ladder?"

"A thirty foot ladder..."

As Liam started to walk up the ladder the statement he just made became clear.

Yes, I'm a luggage carrier.

Yes, I beat a wolfkin in a fistfight.

Fucking deal with it.

As he pulled Kaan with him out of the pit, almost everyone was looking at him with different eyes. Usually someone would try to hide their skill for as long as possible but Liam just announced to everyone that he is a luggage carrier and dared them to do something about it.

No one would, no one who can beat, or strangle, the consciousness out of a beastkin is a pushover. Liam made sure that everyone knew that he isn't an easy target to pick on.

As Liam climbed out of the pit a pack of four wolfkin, two lads and two gals, were already waiting for him and Kaan. No words were exchanged, the two bigger ones took their beat brother from Liam and turned to leave. The two girls only glared at Liam for a few heartbeats before taking their leave.

Liam has bigger problems at hand than to worry about a group of angry siblings, for instance the potion in him that's rapidly trying to get out.

He maneuvered the ladders tip into his backpack and swung the ladder up with the last bit of strength the potion is willing to gift him. As he held it up at a ninety degrees angle the bag came racing down, both the ladder and Liam disappeared into the storage space of the bag.

Perhaps I should have thought twice before jugging a poisonous potion...

The moment I entered the pocked space the strong and determined fighter that managed to bend a beastkin disappeared. All that is left is a puking, crying and miserable mess.

The adrenaline was now gone.

Whimpering, shaking, alone, weak and with the taste of barf in my mouth my mind dared to wander.

What made me ever think I could do this? Reincarnated into a nobody packing mule with a pathetically low earth affinity. How in the ever living fuck am I supposed to stop the end of the world, much less survive? I'm just some guy trying to hit above my weight class.

I was able to beat Kaan because he's the weakest of the five wolf pups. His only strategy being the smelling salts. The potion made me as strong as him allowing me to fight him on an even playing field.

A sting in my right shoulder made me draw in a sharp breath. Kaan left a deep bite wound which is threatening to get infected.

Get your shit together man, calling yourself worthless won't give you extra points! I know my place in this world of mine and I have to change that place! Yeah, I'm meant to die and if I don't die in the dungeon, Elara will drag me into our mutual doom. So fucking what? The world will be swallowed by true darkness and despair. So fucking what? I will not die, I will not survive either.

I will thrive.

I won't get an infection in here, but the wound will make problems once I get out of the bag.

I reached out my hand into nothing and a potion appeared in my hand. I poured it on my shoulder, it burned but not as bad as the literal gut wrench from before.

It's the best I could afford, yet it didn't fully heal it. Yeah, that's gonna fuck me in my next fight. It's the main point of the tournament, to test how the students deal with wounds in active battles.

Alright, time to crawl out of my shell.
