Chapter 2:
Jiyū no ya
After months of tireless travel through the rugged terrain of Eldoria, Aiger finally arrived at the grand capital city of Atheloria. Its towering spires reached towards the heavens, a beacon of hope amidst the encroaching darkness that threatened to engulf the land.
With weary feet and a heart heavy with sorrow, Aiger made his way through the bustling streets of the city, his eyes wide with wonder at the sights and sounds that surrounded him. Here, amidst the throngs of bustling merchants and weary travelers, he hoped to find solace and purpose amidst the chaos that had consumed his life.
Guided by an instinct born of desperation, Aiger soon found himself standing before the imposing gates of the Adventurers Guild—a bastion of hope for those who sought to carve their own destiny amidst the chaos of the world.
Upon entering the guild, Aiger was greeted by a receptionist named Maria, her eyes bright with warmth and kindness. “What can I do for you?” she asked, her voice gentle yet full of purpose.
“I’d like to join the guild,” Aiger replied, his voice steady despite the turmoil raging within him.
“Of course,” Maria said with a smile. “Let me get your mana scale, and then you’re good to go.”
With practiced ease, Maria retrieved an orb from behind the counter and placed it before Aiger. “Just place your hand on the orb, and we’ll see where you stand,” she explained.
As Aiger touched the orb, a soft glow enveloped his hand, revealing his mana level to be that of a wizard—an unexpected but welcome surprise.
“I see your mana level is wizard’s level,” Maria remarked. “Now, pick out your class.”
Aiger glanced through the list of classes, his eyes alighting upon the entry for archery—a skill he had honed through years of practice and dedication.
“I choose to be an archer,” Aiger declared, his voice firm with determination.
“Very well,” Maria replied with a nod. “Here’s your adventure card. And now, let me guide you to the mission board.”
With a bow of gratitude, Aiger accepted the adventure card from Maria and followed her to the mission board, where a myriad of quests awaited those brave enough to undertake them.
Among the many options available, Aiger’s gaze fell upon a quest to hunt down bandits who had been terrorizing a nearby village. It was a task that spoke to his sense of justice and his desire to protect the innocent from harm.
Without hesitation, Aiger accepted the quest, his heart pounding with anticipation for the challenges that lay ahead. For in that moment, amidst the chaos and uncertainty of his new life as an adventurer, he found a glimmer of purpose—a ray of hope that illuminated the path before him, guiding him towards a destiny he had yet to fully grasp.
As he set out from the guild, Aiger’s mind buzzed with excitement. The guild, with its promise of camaraderie and purpose, felt like a sanctuary amidst the turmoil of his past. With his adventure card safely tucked away, he strode through the city streets with newfound confidence, his eyes scanning the horizon for the first signs of his quest.
The journey to the village where the bandits lurked was fraught with danger, yet Aiger welcomed the challenge with open arms. Each step brought him closer to his goal, his determination unwavering despite the obstacles that lay ahead.
Upon reaching the village, Aiger was greeted by the solemn faces of the villagers, their eyes filled with a mixture of fear and desperation. They spoke of the bandits’ ruthless attacks, their homes plundered and their loved ones taken captive.
With a heavy heart, Aiger vowed to end the bandits’ reign of terror once and for all. Drawing upon his training as an archer, he formulated a plan to ambush the thieves and rescue the villagers from their clutches.
Under the cover of darkness, Aiger and a small band of fellow adventurers set out into the wilderness, their footsteps muffled by the soft earth beneath them. With every passing moment, the tension in the air grew thicker, anticipation mingling with fear as they neared the bandits’ camp.
As they reached the outskirts of the camp, Aiger signaled for his companions to halt, his keen eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. With a nod of assurance, he notched an arrow to his bowstring, his muscles tensing in anticipation of the battle to come.
Suddenly, the silence was shattered by the sound of footsteps approaching from the darkness. Aiger’s heart raced as he prepared to confront the bandits head-on, his senses honed to a razor’s edge.
But to his surprise, the figures emerging from the shadows were not the hardened criminals he had expected. Instead, they were weary travelers, their faces lined with exhaustion and fear.
With a sense of disbelief, Aiger realized that the bandits had already struck, leaving devastation in their wake. Without a moment’s hesitation, he sprang into action, rallying his companions to aid the survivors and tend to their wounds.
In the aftermath of the attack, Aiger and his companions worked tirelessly to rebuild the village and restore hope to its people. Though the bandits had inflicted great harm, they had not broken the villagers’ spirit, and together, they vowed to stand strong against any future threats.
As dawn broke over the horizon, Aiger surveyed the village with a sense of pride. Though his quest had not gone as planned, he had forged bonds of friendship and courage that would endure far beyond the trials of the present.
And as he turned his gaze towards the rising sun, Aiger knew that he had found his place in the world—a champion of justice, a protector of the innocent, and a proud member of the Adventurers Guild.
But Aiger’s journey was far from over. As he packed his belongings and prepared to set out once more, he knew that new challenges awaited him on the road ahead. With each step, the path grew more treacherous, the monsters more fearsome, and his own strength more depleted.
Throughout his travels, Aiger encountered a multitude of creatures—some monstrous and others merely misunderstood. From towering giants to cunning goblins, each encounter tested his skills and his resolve, pushing him to the very limits of his endurance.
But as the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, Aiger found himself growing weary of the constant battles and the ever-present threat of danger. His injuries mounted, his mana reserves dwindled, and his spirit wavered beneath the weight of his burdens.
Time and again, he found himself on the brink of defeat, his body battered and broken, his mind clouded with doubt. Yet still, he pressed on, driven by a stubborn determination to see his quest through to the end.
But even the strongest of wills can falter in the face of such relentless adversity. As Aiger’s journey stretched on, he found himself teetering on the edge of despair, his once unwavering resolve beginning to waver beneath the weight of his trials.
With each passing day, the road grew longer, the monsters more numerous, and Aiger’s strength more depleted. His body ached with exhaustion, his mind clouded with fatigue, and his spirit crushed beneath the weight of his burdens.
Yet still, he refused to surrender to the darkness that threatened to consume him. With every ounce of strength that remained, he pushed forward, his eyes fixed firmly on the horizon as he sought out
a glimmer of hope amidst the shadows.
And though the road ahead was fraught with peril and uncertainty, Aiger knew that he could not turn back. For deep within his heart burned the flame of courage, a beacon of light that guided him through even the darkest of nights, leading him ever closer to his destiny as a true hero of Eldoria.
